1. What About Egypt?!
Christy ,   Boston, US   (12.27.09)
Egypt could allow the same things as this guy calls for Israel to do. Why does he suppose Egypt also has blockades? Maybe the problems don't lie with Israel or Egypt. Maybe he should understand what the real problem is.
2. Israel-Palestine article
Barbara Hockley ,   Melbourne Australia   (12.27.09)
The International Community needs to respect Israel's right to defend it's nation and more espescially it's people. Hamas are known and registered as a terrorist group, world wide. The UN Secretary General et al need to treat them as such. The UN should be offering unqualified support to Israel. It was reported that Hamas used and uses human shields and places where they can maximize the number of civilian deaths to gain sympathy; In contrast, Israel has only ever sought to target recognized military targets.
3. hey Gaza is lucky it got bar wire fence
ghostq   (12.27.09)
from the Israeli side and not concreat wall like on the Egypt side. check your facts bank and loan no that ban ki mun, oh well they both suck.
4. A few points for Moon and his U.N.:
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (12.27.09)
(1) Gaza has a border with Egypt, too; why don't you insist the Egyptians allow free movement of people and goods with Gaza? (2) The "hopeless" people of Gaza turned out in their tens of thousands just the other day in support of 7amas. Draw your own conclusions there. (3) The "durable ceasefire" is not in place because 7amas does not and refuses to recognize Israel. Never forget: WE are the ones who voluntarily left Gaza in the interests of peace and were "rewarded" for that with thousands of rockets lobed daily at our civilians across the border. I have ZERO sympathy for what Moon is promoting. The plight of many Gazans is truly regrettable but Israel is the wrong address to be sending complaints about that to.
5. All they have to do is opt for peace. No peace, no relief!!!
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (12.27.09)
6. Another useless and hopeless UN official!
EST ,   Miami USA   (12.27.09)
Try blaming the terrorists and those who support them for a change! Oops! I forgot, Ban also supports the terrorists...it's UN policy as Muslim states have hijacked that organization. If he can accept Lybia at the security council and all of those non-democratic countries in the Human Rights comission....nothing else needs to be said
7. Bank and the UN
Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron Israel   (12.27.09)
Once again Israel is guilty! We are to blame for not having peace, never mind arabs rejected peace once and again, same as they do now. Why don't they understand that all the time arabs don't recognize Israel as the country of the Jews, the only Jewish country, they are denying our right to existence? This must be the first step! If they don't understand then they are guilty!!!
8. The UN is worthless
Michael Ezrachi ,   St. Louis, USA   (12.27.09)
Hamas and the arabs are to blame for the situation in Gaza. Israel defends her people, hamas uses it's people as human shields. The leadership of hamas is in syria, and until they are brought to justice for their crimes there can be no peace. Why doesn't the UN enforce the cease fire in lebanon where hizbollah was suppose to be disarmed? The UN only criticise Israel. Israel can't make peace without a partner, and right now there is no partner for peace. By no addressing the arab's actions against Israel, the UN and some in the world community are making peace less likely. Peace between the arabs and Israel is at least a generation away, the arabs have to start teaching their children to accept Israel as a Jewish state. The disengagement from gaza should have given the arabs a chance to show the world whether they wanted peace or war. They chose war, so the international community should let he arabs suffer the consequences of their actions. Israel has a right to defend it's people. Until the UN ends it's anti Israel policy, the UN has no part in the peace process.
9. Shut down the UN
Ana ,   Va, Spain   (12.27.09)
Its interest is to protect the terrorists.
10. Weapons can enter but no food? And what about Egypt?
Rose ,   Netherlands   (12.27.09)
Efforts are being made to combat illicit trafficking of weapons, but smuggling continues. So there is an opening to bring in goods. And besides, there is an open border with Egypt and even to the Suez channel, so which country is keeping Gaza in siege?
11. Maybe Israel Should Reenter and Stay?
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (12.27.09)
First of all, Bolton was right about everything, while he was ambassador to the UN. History shows this. Iran violated 3 UNSC resolutions about uranium and nothingis done. Hamas/Hez have both violated cease fires, after Israel was intimidated by the UN. Israel vacated 22 settlements and dozens of manufacturing plants (purchased from Israel by Jews for the Pales), only to see them turned into terrorist camps, synagogues burned, and the plants history. Egypt tries somewhat to stop the smuggling (over 1200 tunnels operating now, with profits going to Hamas using child labor). Moon is somewhere out in space guys..maybe the planet Venus or Uranus. But he certainly isn't on this world. Perhaps if the Kassams, Grads and Katy's stopped being launched..there could be a peace attempt? Hamas talks to Hez, and Mubarak, but not to the only responsible partner..Israel.
12. it's simple, ban:
(12.27.09)
stop terror, get heaven!
13. The fate of Gaza??
Takan ,   Elat Israel   (12.27.09)
85% of Gazans voted Hamas in power despite the whole world warning them of the disaster to come (even Ehud Olmert adressed the Palestinians on the eve of the elections and warned them against voting for Hamas). We'd rather have Hamas worry for food than trying to bomb Jews.
14. mr ban
j solna ,   san diego   (12.27.09)
Mr Ban, you dont know what are you talking abt, I think you should leave the UN and go back to where you came from.
15. Get the US Out of the UN and Fast
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (12.27.09)
There is an old right wing expression, "Get the UN ouf of the US, and the US out of the UN". This applies now more than ever. The UN is a complete failure, but costs 4billion/2 years, not including costs of it's policing (ineffefective) and charity given. The US pays most of the above as a good Jewish/Christian nation. While most terrorists come from the Arab League countries and Muslim countries..they are represented on UN committees and the UNSC, while the only democracy, Israel, is verboten. In the new world order, Israel cannot defend itself..(read: the Jew Goldstone and naive Jews JStreet and Soros)
16. can you change this old story?
Updates? ,   Il   (12.27.09)
these are no news and we didnt expect otherwise from UN arabs and terrorist supporters- it only is annoying to see that yo are putting that face up as an update-
17. U(seless) N(obodies) =
Nachman ,   Maale Adummim   (12.27.09)
Hopelessness in Gaza
18. :: Sanctions are needed
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (12.27.09)
Ban’s words will fall upon deaf Israeli ears as Israel is trying to create a Humanitarian Disaster in Gaza and has a long history of ignoring international law. Ban should be focusing on a set of strict economic and political sanctions against Israel as only pressure like this will get Israel to loosen its deadly grip on Gaza.
19. Not the Gazanians Fate
Dan ,   Titusville, FL   (12.27.09)
What the state of the Gazanians is not anyones concern other than Hamas. The people chose to live under Islamic Sharia dictatorship. EVERY islamic country shuns the Gazanians and even Egypt has sealed its border with Gaza. Leave them to wallow in the Islamic enlightenment.
20. To #18 Matty
Jeffrey ,   Boston   (12.27.09)
Publshers Clering House has determined you are the winner of a one way airplane ticket to Gaza. All you need to do is claim your prize when our representative visits you. What? You don't want it? You don't want to live with your friends in Gaza? Hello? Hello? Are you there?
21. It's time to tell UN personal what we think of them.
Paul ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.27.09)
They should not be allowed passage on city streets. They should be blocked bodily by outraged residents. They are here to support and aid the Arab war against Jews. Remove them now.
22. YNET agrees with Moon(bat) in every article
m   (12.27.09)
23. Hey, man from the Moon
Samsung   (12.27.09)
stop blockade of North Korea and help your poor brothers there.
24. #1 not the same; aerial and sea blockade are Israeli made
observer   (12.27.09)
even the narrow porous Egyptian land border blockade is in accordance with Egypt-Israel "agreement" against the jus cogens.
25. #4 1.5 year ago, Barain appointed Jewish ambassdor to the US
observer   (12.27.09)
Ms. Nunu has served in Bahraini parliament for three years, and is the co-founder of the Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society, a human rights watchdog group — the first and only rights organization in the region led by a Jewish woman. Ms. Nunu’s family is “considered actively engaged and well integrated in business and financial activities”, with her brother Ibrahim having served in the Bahraini Shura Council — the upper house of Bahraini parliament — and her grandfather, Ibrahim Nunu, having served as the Bahraini Jewish Community’s representative under the British authorities in 1919. An Arab Jew, like you, would find the appointment of a Jew ambassador a fulfillment of Jewish grandiose, but the credit goes in first place the Bahraini government.
26. To: No. 24
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.27.09)
Gaza does not have an airport, so your point is moot. Gaza does not have a deep water port suitable for unloading ocean-going cargo carriers, so your point is moot. Looks like Egypt is your last best option. Perhpas your only option. Israel should not, and will not, cooperate with people who are bent on her destruction.
27. To: No. 25
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.27.09)
There is no such thing as an "Arab Jew." The terms are mutually exclusive. You may, however, say "Bahraini Jew" or "Jewish Bahraini." Please do not confuse people by suggesting that there is such a thing as an Arab Jew or a Jewish Arab. What do you mean by "grandiose?" It does not make sense in the context used. "Grandeur" does not work, either. Please check your dictionary and find a suitable word -- I confess to being quite curious to have your comment come together for me, but "grandiose" is not the right word.
28. :: Sarah B - #26
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (12.27.09)
Sarah B said: Actually it does, it is called: Yasser Arafat International Airport It was closed in 2001 when the IAF and Israeli bulldozers damaged the runway and control tower. Bill Clinton was actually at the opening ceremony in 1998. Glad I could correct such an obvious mistake.
29. # 25
Birdi ,   Israel   (12.27.09)
"an Arab Jew" There are NO Arab Jews. What are you talking about? Its either a Jew or an Arab but certainly not an Arab Jew. Never has been, never will be.
30. # 28
Birdi ,   Israel   (12.27.09)
So in plain English Gaza does not have an airport......Sarah B. was correct. Stop nit picking Matty.
