31. Mida K'neged Mida
Mitch P ,   La Jolla, USA   (01.01.10)
The Clintons have not been friends to Israel. The US is no longer a supporter of Israel. It is time for us to open our eyes.
32. many Jews are so easily fooled
Ran   (01.01.10)
Some Jews lack the emotional intelligence to distinguish between friends and foes, that is true also in the case of this extreme left-wing author.
33. overblown
alexi   (01.01.10)
Intermarriage is increasing because current monetary jewish values are inhibiting within race marriage. As long as jews raise their kids jewish, then a non jewish wife will do. I have done it, my kids were converted to judaism at bar mitzvah time and had jewish education as well. They know who they are and support Israel. A non jewish wife can be an even greater supporter. Was Moses' wife not jewish? other ways can be found. The idea is to increase the number of jews through education and social programs.
34. #26 You are talking about yourself
Keren ,   IL-BR   (01.01.10)
But what about your wife?Do you think that she doesn't count in the formation of your children? If you say that she is not Jewish, and that she apparently decided to keep being so,your children will get also her espirit (if we can say so). If she was not raised Jewish as you,if she was not born Jewish as you,do you think that she deeply feels like you ?
35. Didn't Hillary claim Jewish roots?
William ,   Israel   (01.01.10)
She once claimed Jewish ancestry on her maternal side. If true, than this is nothing close to a mixed-marriage. Either way, love is love, no politics or religion needed, so butt out of her life.
36. #22 - Learning begins at home
William ,   Israel   (01.01.10)
"I would worry that we are losing our kids to hatred instead." Considering some of your past self-righteous, very damning posts on people you disagree with...perhaps you need to start work immediately in your own home.
37. #18 - Einstein didn't disregard Judaism, Zionism
William ,   Israel   (01.01.10)
He supported both but was a man of science, with an obvious disinterest in religion and politics. You can't make the claims you did simply because Einstein refused to be the State's first president. In his circles and for his goals, getting a Nobel Prize is worth so much more.
38. Chelsea Clinton's Bridegroom
arlene ,   chicago USA   (01.01.10)
I disagree with this point of view and wish Chelsea and her family(ies)Congratulations and the best of luck.
39. How are Bill and Hillary Clinton friends of Israel?
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.01.10)
The author makes many valid points about the perils of intermarriage. Naturally, liberals, who gravitate to all things dumb and destructive, seek to glorify intermarriage. However, it is clearly a highly negative and destructive phenomena. I would like to ask the author by what criteria she considers Bill and Hillary Clinton friends of Israel? Neither of them (especially Hillary) have acted in Israel's best interests. Logically, the Clintons can only be considered friendly to Israel in comparison to Obama, the most hostile U.S. president Israel has ever faced. Yet Hillary Clinton agrees with every anti-Israel Obama utterance.
40. Why aren't we encouraging Chelsea to convert?
Josh ,   San Jose, USA   (01.01.10)
If we want to avoid going extinct, we need to reach out to every goy married to a Jew and bring them into that community. The phenomenon of mixed marriages could strengthen us rather than lead to our extinction of we could just get our heads out of the sand.
41. Chelsea should ask Caroline Kennedy Schlosberg if
Rivkah   (01.01.10)
she is happy married to a Jew and if not, why not. Much of Christianity is not the faith Rabbi Yeshua or Moses taught, so Chelsea should seriously consider converstion to Messianic Judaism. Maybe it Caroline had done that, she would not be so unhappy. Boaz married Ruth in the Bible, but Ruth became Jewish in her faith. The Christian Savior is Jewish, but you would not know that from what the religions have become.
42. You think this is a problem?
Bubba Stankmore ,   Dallas, Texas   (01.01.10)
Just wait until Obama and crew finishes with Israel. You are about to recieve "change" you won't believe and a new understanding of what "self-loathing" means to these Austro-Marxists.
43. Crap
Inyaki ,   Bilbao, basque   (01.01.10)
This is crap, we live in the 21st century. We now allow the same sex marigies, so why not mixed. We can't demand race purity on one hand, and then brag about Sarkozy`s jewishness etc. Get wiser. Stop preaching, this is a purely family, not a national matter.
44. mixed marriages
riana ,   tel aviv   (01.01.10)
We have been married for 15 years and have 2 boys - unfortunately my children have been rejected by the rabbanut, even after following the orthodox conversion process - people like my husband feels betrayed and rejected as a jew - they don't realise the hurt and damage caused to jewish souls- very upsetting - I walk with a constant pain and I believe Hashem hears my prayers.
45. The price y'all pay for leaving the ghetto
Cameron ,   USA   (01.01.10)
You might as well rage against the tide coming in. At best, this irresistible process will result in a much looser interpretation of who & what is a Jew in coming decades.
46. It's so naive, it's embarrasing to read
m   (01.01.10)
"When Hillary spoke, as first lady, on the Yitzhak Rabin Memorial Day, she began her address with quotes from the weekly Torah portion."--It's scripted. "Bill and Hillary Clinton are true friends of Israel and the Jewish people."--Oslo destruction? "Some may say I am old-fashioned and racist. "--Racist? Wow! I'm impressed by the lack of Jewish knowledge in Israel's new generation and superficial thinking.
47. sometimes, it's best to keep quiet!
7azon yesha3ya   (01.02.10)
yes, you are a racist old-fashioned person. "Do you really think that you have the right to interfere?" in our israeli shtetl, many are accustomed to stick their noses in other peoples posterior and to judge others. this is none of your business. if the price of jewish survival is bigotry, we are better off, not surviving.
48. Trumps daughter converted.
LIliane ,   Brighton, UK   (01.02.10)
At least Trump's daughter converted.
49. 1/2 Jews don't generally identify as Jews
Elly ,   VIenna, Austria   (01.02.10)
Most children who are1/2 Jewish don't feel Jewish. INtermarriage will make the Jewish people in Europe and USA disappear.
50. He's from such a good family too-
Moishe ,   NY   (01.02.10)
Only the one felony conviction but it was just white collar.
51. From a 24 year old secular Jewish male here...
Justin ,   New York City, USA   (01.02.10)
I can say wholeheartedly as a Jew, whose parents are both Jewish I'm not surprised. I wasn't raised with much religion passed my bar mitzvah, and what would be the reasoning to marry Jewish, especially if I don't practice the religion I was supposedly born into. The orthodox have portrayed themselves in such a bad light IMHO that who would want to emulate such ways..... It's not so easy to say "just marry a jewish girl", which is what most parents try to push on their kids, even though there is no reason for such marriage. The only arguement I hear is... "If you don't marry a nice Jewish girl, well then your children will not be Jewish...." Now, I understand this is important to somebody who feels Judaism is an integral part in their life. For someone like me, who for all intensive purposes is Jewish only by name/ethnicity there really is no common denominator to make dating that much harder. This should give you a clear view on how most of my fellow Jews my age feel about such things....
52. If Chelsea.......
Self Hating Jew ,   New Mexico, USA   (01.02.10)
.....Is a true American, which she is,she could not care less about her husband's religion.Proud to be a Jew married to a great "Shikse" for 23 years in the great Us of A.
53. RACISM PURE & SIMPLE
John ,   Robey   (01.02.10)
The lady writes, " The number of mixed marriages in the Diaspora has increased by 200% in the past 50 years. About 55% of all white marriages are mixed ones. In one-quarter of families, the children of the next generation will no longer be White, and at best will have a loose connection to their White roots. A look at the future shows that within a number of generations, American whites will nearly disappear..." All I did was change white for Jewish
54. 6..u r clueless and a biggot
(01.02.10)
55. 46...her heart is in the right place...it's just that she is
(01.02.10)
a head in the sand, pc liberal who hasn't woken up to the reality facing am Israel yet.
56. #40 - Yiddishkeit is not Judaism
Pat Gunn ,   Pittsburgh   (01.02.10)
We are part of humanity - the ideas of Judaism are not all there is to Yiddishkeit. Cultures are always moving, and religion is dying on the vine, but the impact of Yiddishkeit on the rest of the world is very broad. Not all goys want to convert to a religion at all - speaking as a goy with some hebrew blood in my ancestry (not Jewish by halakah, but I have cousins and ancestors who are), we can take the good ideas and values from the pasts of many cultures to form the values of future culture. I could not convert because I don't believe (and think belief is irrational), but there is much to learn from my heritage and humanity's heritage in all their varieties. I celebrate intermarriage. I am happy when I hear of it, between any and all cultures. Variety helps us first break the hard hand of tradition and then appreciate its beauty when held more lightly. It allows us to break with the bad but keep the good, to celebrate more intelligently, and to seek new goods rather than what was available with limited vision in the barbaric past.
57. #41 Rivkah
Connie ,   Virginia   (01.02.10)
Hi. I got on ynet to see if they had a story that was on cbn.com. it was about Israel reconizing Christian zionists who support the state I haven't come across it yet but it was nice to come back to y-net for a visit. : )
58. Wthin intermarriage the only goal is to salvage what is left
JMK ,   NYC   (01.02.10)
If the Jewish spouse is female to fight for Judiasm and a real Jewish education. If the Jewish spouse is male, the fight is against the Jewish spouse's apostasy and conversion by educating him that Christianity is a complete human fabrication, that Gospels are fiction and to effect his children accordingly so maybe they won't grow up to be anti semites.
59. It is a good thing Boaz in the Bible did not listen to ...
Rivkah   (01.02.10)
people who objected to his marrying a Moabitess named Ruth. People spoke well of Ruth, in fact, which was curious. Kind of like the way people speak well of Chelsea Clinton. Where would the fallen Christian women be if the Jewish men did not come to their rescue and marry them like Edwin Schlosberg marrying Caroline Kennedy? She became a wonderful mother and a not so wonderful wife, but you don't see him leaving. Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka just married a Jewish man after converting to Judaism. A good compromise would be Messianic Judaism for Chelsea Clinton and her fiance.
60. In wishing to preserve our Jewish identity,
vered ,   israel   (01.01.10)
we sometimes forget why it is important to remain Jewish: the message that Judaism gives to the world: to honor the ten commandments, to be a better person, to behave the way God wanted us to behave. Being Jewish is not an end in itself. So, if the people in a mixed marriage behave in a righteous manner, isn't that what is important to God? Isn't that the overall purpose?
