Israeli critics of the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions campaign spuriously complain that BDS stifles "free speech", but they conveniently leave out the fact that Israeli universities and the Israeli state regularly stifle dissent on their own campus (with this incident being just one example) and regularly repress Palestinian universities and Palestinian students preventing them from getting a proper education at their own institutes and stifling their freedom of speech. Israeli hypocrisy on show once again...

Universities and colleges have the autonomy and responsibility to decide what classes and conferences are appropriate to sponsor. This was deemed inappropriate. Boycott Divestment and Sanction campaigns discriminate only against Israelis. Singling people out based on religion and country of origin is a form of racism. Israel does not control Palestinian universities or prevent Palestinians from getting an education. In fact, many attend Israeli universities.

The only 'democracy' in the Middle East shutting down criticism on the 'principles' of incitement against Israel. Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan will soon be ready to welcome Israel to the club.
