I am a disabled victim of the September 4, 1997 multiploe swuicide bombing on Ben Yehuda, in Jerusalem. We sued agencies and heads of the Iranian Government, and received a default judgment. For the past 9 years, we have been fighting for justice, against the very US agencies that are empowered to ensure the implementation of that justice. Our first obstacles were both Bush administrations, who did everything they could, including advocacy for Iran. Now we have to fight against the Obama administration, which holds that the Holy Land Foundation frozen assets should be spread around to all American victims of Hamas, through a program called ITVERP (International Terror Victims Expense Reimbursement Program). The problems with this idea is twofold: (1) There isn't enough money to go around. (2) This position is extrajudicial. It appears that given the Administration's policy toward Iran, they appear to be holding the victim's hostage to a delusional diplomatic process, that has proven a dismal failure. We also have a judgment against Hamas., both the US and Israel have stonewalled on honoring the ajudication of our cases. I would have expected that Israel would have the courage to do what the US administration lacks the courage to do - fight the war on terror by giving the victims their justice, and not simply use them as photo ops and subjects for political rhetoric.
