1. Way to Go judges..thank you
JayZ ,   Jerusalem   (12.30.09)
ACRI is right, the street is laid on palestinian territory, and used to serve the whole lot of villages packed their, whose main next city was ramallah. Ever since 2000, these poor villagers needed to go through long broken bumpy paths and not even streets, to reach ramallah in not less than 2 hours. where it used to take them like 20 mins max. I feel for the victims, but that doesn't mean that thousands of palestinians should suffer so that the bereaved feel better. imagine a palestinian old woman having a serious health problem trying to reach emergency in ramallah's hospitals!!. Those who terrorise the citizens should be punished themselves, and not the whole people around. You could also imagine that Shvut Rachel gets fenced and cut out of all routes, just because Teitel lived there.
2. Whose taxes payed for the road?
Dan ,   RG   (12.30.09)
3. Bizarre Ruling!
George ,   Toronto, Canada   (12.30.09)
If the road is not in Israel as the NGO's claim then how does the Israeli High Court have jurisdiction? If it is in Israel and the Court has jurisdiction then the Israeli Govt /Knesset needs to pass a new law to get around the ruling of the Court.
4. Give every motorist an M-16 and bullet proof every car OR
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (12.30.09)
release some terrorists to live in the homes of the judges.
5. nirit you are full of it. to defend this
gal1 ,   israel   (12.30.09)
decision is simply unacceptable. this is a gateway for pallies to kill more jews on the road. it's sick. it's not occupied territory , it's rightfully ours. the sooner the government gets that into their thick skulls the better. G-d bless Gilad.
6. Human Rights group?
Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron Israel   (12.30.09)
Maybe I am stupid, maybe I don't understand reality, and maybe that my education is demodee. As far as I understand, a human rights group main objective is to defend human rights, no matter whose, plainly human rights. When they take political positions as it's clear from Nirit Moskovitch words, they are not a human rights group, they are a political group who cares about imposing their view, no matter who they hurt nor which the other part arguments are. Please start describing this radical left politicians as what they really are!!!
7. 443
(12.30.09)
Upping the security of our cabinet members, who are accountable to no-one but their own ambitious selves, at the cost of the public 's purse is ok? What about the public's security? What about the safety of our men at the check posts? And NOW they authorize this, just after the attacks in the last couple of weeks? One feels for the innocent Palis. But their job is to pressurize their elected leaders away from armed struggle. On the other hand, who listens to pressure from the Israeli public?
8. WHOSE ROADS THE FAMILIES ASKING TO CLOSE ?
ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (12.30.09)
OHH SUCH A NICE. kill yourself in deep. THAN CLOSE THAT ROAD. kill yourself in deep. THAN CLOSE THIS ROAD. ... ... the families need to stop on this subject. THE COURT DID RIGHT. *** 'Unjust situation.' Attorney Yehuda PS: she looks nice. I am sure she could given better photo. her hair and her eyes are beautifull. how I wish she is my lawyer . but I have no problem with any law.
9. great reward for the recent drive shooting
pj ,   israel   (12.30.09)
what does it take for us to learn how to protect ourselves?
10. Arab villages along 443 openly display Hamas flag.
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (12.30.09)
I am really not happy with this decision. When was the last time these Judges were any where near this area? This is a major road. We've just had one death because road blocks have been removed. We've just found a bomb on 443, and these people who live somewhere far from reality think we'll be safe. We should make those judges camp by that road for a while.
11. REMEMBER: These Judges are SELF-ELECTED & CANNOT be replaced
(12.30.09)
These anti-Israel radical leftist corrupt judges have too much power. WE MUST GET RID OF THEM ONCE AND FOR ALL!
12. Shomrun vey Judea are
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (12.30.09)
disputed territories, not "occupied" ones. the latter is an Arab term and interpretation which has been taken of by the illiterate international population and even by Israelis who are ignorant of legal history.
13. IT'S NOT ABOUT PUNISHMENT, IT'S ABOUT DETERRANCE
SETTHERECORDSTRAIGHT   (12.30.09)
IT'S ABOUT PREVENTING FURTHER TERRORIST ATTACKS.
14. ACRI again shows it does not support rights of Israelis
JPS ,   Efrat   (12.30.09)
ACRI again fails the test of a civil rights group by totally ignoring the civil rights of Israelis that are constantly violated by the Palestinians. ACRI uses the excuse that it is not mandated or concerned about civil rights in other nations, and fails miserably by refusing to defend against foreign (aka Palestinian) actions that violate the civil rights of Israelis.
15. Clandestine Operatives ?
Roland Seener ,   London England   (12.30.09)
We are reaching a stage where to protect oneself , family and friends actions counter to the will of the State could likely surface.(exemplified by being "s: taking the law into their own hands ), both Arab and Jewish clashing head-on .Man Power being limited, and advantage takers making the most of it.We are heading for "Big Big Trouble".If I want to protect my loved one"s on a journey what do I do?...Leave the Road-blocks in place. The State does not pay compensation to the wounded or dead for their mis-assessment of facts that exist on the ground.,UNLESS I AM MISTAKEN
16. I defended 443
Jordan ,   Israel   (12.30.09)
2 summers ago I was a combat soldier protecting that highway and patrolling the surrounding villages. Bombs, shootings, riots, Molotov cocktails etc. If the villagers could guarantee that we would not see another attack then I could see opening the road to everyone. That WAS the original intent of the road. It is safe now because we keep it that way. Does an Israeli have to die so we can say we tried?
17. #1 - They can spend some of the millions they are given on R
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (12.30.09)
443 was built by Israel for Israelis. if they have bad roads they get money to fix that.
18. Human Rights versus Human Life
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (12.30.09)
I do not know what the definition of a "Human Right" is. I do not know who made up this term. I know what a Human Life is. I know that a Human Life is irreplaceable; once taken it cannot be retrieved. I also know that our High Court is incapable of understanding that when weighing "Human Rights" versus "Human Life", Human Life must always take precedence. What should be obvious to any rational being somehow escapes the thought process of these poor ex-lawyers. The blood of any soul murdered as a result of this decision is on their heads.
19. Unrealistic judges show their contempt of Israeli lives
Scott ,   Haifa   (12.30.09)
We cry for justice, and pray these judges' attitudes will change, or they will speedily find new jobs out of their ivory towers. IYN
20. Lack of responsibility
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (12.30.09)
With power should come responsibility. A politician who makes a mistake can lose elections. A military commander who makes a mistake gets kicked out of the army. In Israel judges have unlimited power and no responsibility. In February 2003 a judge stopped the IDF from destroying an abandoned building in Gaza. A few weeks later, four Israeli soldiers died in an attack from that building. The judge who made the ruling was never punished and never expressed any regret. If the judges insist on second guessing the military expert who closed Road 443, they should be personally financially liable for damage and death caused to people traveling on that road.
21. # 6 Ricardo - yes you are
Avi ,   Israel   (12.30.09)
"May be im stupid" so it would seem
22. #17 443 is built on their land, which according to the law
JayZ ,   Jerusalem   (12.30.09)
means that the street automatically becomes theirs. Next time maybe they will charge you for using 443 just like they charge you for using 6. and by the way, israel military commandments doesn't allow the palestinians to build good roads in the palestinian territories for security purposes.. an example is the street linking geva villages and atarot
23. Apartheid Palestine
Road 443   (12.30.09)
Ever listened to Desmond Tutu on his visits to Apartheid Palestine? He himself has said many times that it reminded him of exactly of South Afrrica - the barbed wire and separated areas of Jewish privilege in the form of Illegal Settlements. The Jews-only roads and the Palestinian water diverted to the Settlements. Swathes of land taken in order to provide "security` for the Settlements etc etc.
24. 443: TO # 11
SDB ,   ISRAEL   (12.30.09)
HOW?
25. That 'ivory tower' is the high court of justice
Israel   (12.30.09)
and we all know how much power they DON'T have - they convict killers to serve life - only to be released or pardoned by our President - our country is going round and round in circles - at least it's consistent - even if it's consistently wrong.
26. matter of choice
Michael ,   Haifa   (12.30.09)
People who make a decision to travel and or live in dangerous places, should be aware of the risks they take
27. :: Solution
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (12.30.09)
A simple solution would be to remove all the illegal settlements and settlers in the WB and for Israelis to use route 431 and route 1 to get from Modiin to W Jerusalem.
28. #24 What do you mean "How"?
Shalom   (12.30.09)
This is a "democratic" state - at least that’s what the politicians are trying to brainwash the gullible public - which means the secular left may do whatever they wish, even elect themselves as non-replaceable judges. If one dies, "THEY" get to choose someone that fits "THEIR" warped corrupt anti-Israel criteria.
29. Scott, justice was done, and ACRI is a gem...
BBSNews ,   Charlotte, NC   (12.30.09)
...in a country of people who do not know where their borders are. 443 belongs to the Palestinians along with everything else in the West Bank as even the Israeli High Court has held that the West Bank is held by Israel under "belligerent occupation" (and how!) . In other words, why don't Israelis go home and use the roads within their own country? Have you not realized yet that the world sees your brutal and repressive colonization of land that is not part of sovereign Israel as a crime against humanity?
30. Palestines?
WRONGDOING ,   Il   (12.30.09)
Sorry but they want their country they shall bisd their own roads on their side! Nothing to do with us
