Gilad Shalit has been in Hamas hands for over three years now but its only when things reach final stages of negotiations that the government decides to try rescue him.. WHY? The government has done very little to rescue Shalit through non diplomatic channels. What happened to all the talk about revoking rights of prisoners in Israeli jails... in the end nothing was done, you still have the likes of Marwan Barguti taking degree courses and taxpayer expense. The government has no right making releasing 1000+ terrorists including killers and high value terrorists for Shalit but they haven't made much of effort to rescue him.
