The result is that most Orthodox furiously try to distance themselves from the NK while the secular Israelis view it as more evidence that "the religious" are the enemy. This is the most compelling and illuminating reason for the predominantly Israeli secular political and media insistence on heralding the infamy of NK. Otherwise, they would have no significant impact. Misojudaic seculars who publicize their prized example of "religious fanatics" to the rooftops are mindless hypocrites for then throwing rocks at them. If they were serious about combating NK they would, first of all, limit coverage of them to about 2 informative sentences--like most of the foreign media does--and then ignore them… instead of publicizing them with glaring headlines.
