31. Vandals burn arab rug/books in mosque- 2 weeks of 24/7 media
Jae ,   Lynn US   (01.18.10)
ye Arabs destroying 3000 year old tomb of prophet Ezekiel???????????? This is msehuganah. I have already contact the white house by phone & email. You should too
32. #1 so whats new?
Paul ,   Trinidad   (01.18.10)
Yes, Yisraeli, what's new? Israel seized all places of worship in Jerusalem in 1067 (according to Sarah B, Israel). Why? The only difference here is that it is "reported" that Iraq intends to make the tomb into a mosque. If this is true, the course of action Israel must take is diplomacy. Unfortunately, Israel's foreign ministry does not have any senior diplomats. Tomorrow, we may hear Ayalon threaten to demolish the Dome of the Rock in revenge.
33. #30 and the art of lying; name 1. You cant. Go back 2 Arabia
Ytzhaaq ,   Jerusalem Israel   (01.18.10)
from whence you came
34. Given the opportunity they would make the Kotel a mosque
zionist forever   (01.18.10)
The muslims already say the Kotel is a holy site to them because Mohammed tied up his horse Al Burq there. There are some palestinians who say that their sate should have soverignty over the Kotel because it is a muslim holy site. The only religion that seems to have any real importance in the world to this lot is islam and its their duty to wipe out the memory of other faiths, so islam can rule the world. No international body is going to intervine because nobody wants to get involved in the Iraq nightmare create more political problems. Its just a jewish site in a muslim country which has a population of 8 jews. Pretty soon we are going to have muslims praying to Allah at Ezekiels tomb.
35. This means the Jewish sites were protected under Saddam.
Mark ,   London   (01.18.10)
36. To @26 A resounding YES!
Kate ,   ISRAEL   (01.19.10)
We'll then see the great outcry HA! Well Jae I have said it but has not been published as yet,if at all. Just asked Ynet why. The trouble is the Arab/Muslims want to obliterate the Jewish heritage/history. If I may, that silly woman from Oz has the audacity to mention it out of context too,"The Museum of Tolerance "with the same breath,in a hateful way.Wonder if her english is a bit " manke" not knowing where her elbo from her behind. I will spell it for her: T.O.L.E.R.A.N.C.E = Tolerance is a good word and it's meaning is BEAUTIFUL.to understand and applaud. Besides Raymond in DC has explained it in his own way. Though somewhat not needed I fear.
37. Actually Mark,London you may have>>>>
Kate ,   ISRAEL   (01.19.10)
You may have something there. Although we destroyed the nuclear facility and stopped it in its tracks, and Sadaam lobbed his bombs against Israel, not a peep about it. Nor did Saddam decide to obliterate OUR HOLY SITES. Only now after Obarmi came into power and Maliki the leader the fool thinks hecan behave like bofoon.Instead he should be more amenable rather than emulate the likes of Ahmedinejad and the rest of the Islamofacists that are still in Iraq nowadays. There for your short response makes one think ha?
38. For # 35 I guess >>
Stephen ,   USA   (01.19.10)
It could well be so.He did not try to dismantle any Jewish holy sites. Even though he did attack Israel. Even though Israel destroyed Osirak. One never knows with their types.
39. WHY DO JEW HATERS ALWAYS CLAIM
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (01.19.10)
THEY HATE JEWS AND YET THEY WANT THE JEWISH HOLY SITES, THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS ETC. ARE THEY JEALOUS OF THE JEWS OR ARE THEY TRYING TO TAKE THE PLACE OF THE JEWS AND CLAIM THAT THEY, THE MUSLIMS ARE THE CHOSEN PEOPLE OR THE REAL JEWS ? WHAT ARE THE INTENTIONS OF THE MUSLIMS ? WHY DO THEY TRY TO DESTROY " JEWISHNESS " AND THEN THEY CLAIM IT BACK ALL FOR THEMSELVES. BY TRYING TO STEAL ALL THE JEWISH HOLY SITES, HOLY BOOKS, AND CLAIMING JEWISH PROPHETS WERE REALLY MUSLIM PROPHETS................ IS THIS GIVING THE MUSLIMS SOME LEGITIMACY THAT THEY FEEL THEY DON'T HAVE AND THEY NEED IT BADLY. HOW CAN THE MUSLIMS CLAIM, OR GAIN ANY LEGITIMACY..................BY " CONVERTING " EVERYTHING JEWISH INTO MUSLIM ? WHAT POWERS DO THE MUSLIMS SEEK BY ASSUMING JEWISH IDENTITIES AND HISTORIES ? WE JEWS SURELY MUST HAVE SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT THAT SO MANY OTHERS DESIRE AND WANT IT SO BADLY............. AND WE JEWS MAY NOT ALL BE FULLY AWARE OF WHAT WE REALLY HAVE .
40. answer needed
Chaos   (01.19.10)
Well the simple answer is to turn the al aksa mosque back in what it was as its origin, a jewish temple.. Time for muslimls to understrand that these desert robbers are not ruling the world. Lets deliver them a painful blow
41. #33, now, lets come back to REALITY here
jerusalem   (01.19.10)
I have nothing to hide. typical israeli mentality to just""forget" things existed...i want to know what you are smoking! ; ) LOL even though a simple google search can get you the info, to give you one, Beersheva's Great Mosque. heck, if ur that lazy, go look for the documentary that AlJazeera made and aired dedicated to this subject..lol. it was an eye-opening piece.
42. to #13 nop he is just jewish who hates
ghostq   (01.19.10)
the fact of being one.
43. Israel to the world
Paul ,   Trinidad   (01.19.10)
Do as I say not as I do. Thanks for the tip on Beersheva, jerusalem
44. to #41 lol that mosque was built by Turkes
ghostq   (01.19.10)
it got 150 years, not old something and it was blast when the Anzak tropps shoot the minirate cause the Turkes use it as observation tower to snifer and send blast metal balls at the Anzak troops. so what is your point? this got nothing to do with what arab propeganda net work got to say, I saw the British documentry it's real eye opener :)
45. #2 - Moses' tomb not in Israel
William ,   Israel   (01.19.10)
Apparently, you comment more than you think. According to the Torah, Moses was not allowed to enter the Land of Israel and died outside, in what is now Jordan. I don't believe his exact tomb has been located. However, Ezikiel's has been located and is also under the care of Jewish caretakers for centuries. This action in Iraq is no less than Cultural Theft and must be stopped by UNESCO. It doesn't matter whether he is a major or a minor prophet, the fact remains that he is a Jewish prophet and is esteemed as such. Conversely, Muslims insist on control over Jerusalem, based on a rumor of Muhammed's visit (no actual proof) and have made major efforts through terrorism and historical revisionism to that end.
46. #9 - You use the term "scholars" too loosely
William ,   Israel   (01.19.10)
You're really referring to historical revisionists, like Ilan Pappe, who himself admits his writings are part conjecture and opinion based on a myriad of facts, and what he *thinks* happened. Not exactly scholarly materials. And since we're talking about tombs of prophets and not some village mosque, your claim really holds no water. For all of your bellyaching, the claims can be dispelled simply by pointing your attention to the Dome of the Rock which Israel could have destroyed, and yet returned to Muslim Waqf. Then turn to Joseph's Tomb, which is Jewish, always has been, immediately attacked by "Palestinians", burned, then claimed as their own. If it really was a tomb of some sheik, Arabs have a strange way of honoring their dead.
47. #19 - Arabs are doing just fine destroying Al Aqsa
William ,   Israel   (01.19.10)
With all of the unsurpervised construction, in an earthquake zone, it won't be a surpise what happens next. The Arabs - more like the "palesitnians" have accused Israel of undermining Al-Aqsa, yet they needed Jordanian engineers to come in and help when their construction caused a wall to bow outwards on the Eastern side. In their rush to destroy the Jewish ties to the Temple mount and build a "palestinian tradition" that wasn't there in the first place, they ignored the engineering planning needed on such project and place their hope in Allah (as he has helped them so much for centuries already). Israel doesn't need to be involved to have Al-Aqsa fall, like it doesn't need to be involved when Shias and Sunnis kill each other.
48. #20 - The Grand Mufti withdrew the sanctity of the cemetery
William ,   Israel   (01.19.10)
Kim - you're ignorance precedes you. The very cemetery you mentioned was never an issue for Muslims until Jews were planning to build NEXT to it. They're not even building on it, but NEXT to it. However, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Al-Husseini, already withdrew the sanctity of the cemetery in order to proceed on the project of building his own large home on the site. Ooops - I guess Muslims, who claim such proclamations cannot be reversed except by the decree of the issuerer, found a loop hole in their own racist laws. or did they?
49. #32 - Regarding Israeli diplomacy and the Arabs
William ,   israel   (01.19.10)
In months leading up to the 1967 war, Israel was involved in intense shuttle diplomacy, begging the world for help. As Nasser proclaimed proudly that he would turn Israel into a grave yard and soon be in Tel Aviv (exactly what Hamas claims today), the world did nothing. We tried diplomacy on so many levels, but when your enemies don't even respect you as human beings, how is diplomacy an option? Under "diplomacy", Arafat promised to protect Jewish sites, then turned around and attacked, burnt Joseph's Tomb. There is a time for diplomacy, and a time for hard action. Even the US under the appeaser Obama has admitted such.
50. #35 - unless you include the Jewish books found in a basemen
William ,   Israel   (01.19.10)
One can make the nefarious claim you just did - that Saddam protected Jewish site - until you look deeper. The US forces found and retrieved tons of ancient Jewish scripts and photos that were floating in sewage in the basement of a govt building. These were definitely NOT protected nor considered of any value. Now Iraqis demand the materials back, even though they expelled the original owners of the materials, and considering what they are doing to the Tomb, one can assume these materials are set to be destroyed by Muslims as well.
51. #41 - You'd have more credibility if NOT Al-Jazeera
William ,   Israel   (01.19.10)
"go look for the documentary that AlJazeera made and aired dedicated to this subject.." I wouldn't exactly consider anything coming from Al-Jazeera as unbiased and factual. The continue to muddle facts and manipulate context to appease their target audience - angry Muslims. You'd have more credibility if a news outlet like PBS (in the US) or RAI (Italy) made the documentary instead.
52. JESUSALEN
cristian ,   bs as arg   (01.19.10)
and jesus came and spake unto them saying all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the abba, the ben and of the ruaj ha¨emet teaching them to observe all things whatsoever i have commanded you and lo I am with you always even unto the end of the world amen.
53. #49 Regarding Israeli diplomacy and the Arabs
Paul ,   Trinidad   (01.19.10)
Then I guess you are out of luck. No diplomats. No desire for diplomacy. The archive will be heading back to Iraq, it's owner. Unless you found 112 billion barrels of oil in Rosh HaAyin.
54. Good idea...we could also do the same to Esthers tomb here..
Arash ,   Tehran-Iran   (01.19.10)
In Iran. We don't need her tomb here in our land. We have the tomb's of some high profiled jewish saint's in Iran, and it's about time we demolish them for good, using explosives.
55. #53 - So you agree world bends for Arab oil?
William ,   Israel   (01.19.10)
"The archive will be heading back to Iraq, it's owner. Unless you found 112 billion barrels of oil in Rosh HaAyin." From your comment, it is blatantly apparent that you not only see the world unfairly bending to Arab demands solely because of oil, but agree that the world does it. Using Oil as a weapon certainly isn't "diplomatic" especially after threatening further violence through nukes (Iran) and educating future terrorists (Saudi Arabia). Regarding the archive - technically it is not the property of Iraq. It was stolen from it's original owners and no compensation nor attempt to purchase leagally from them, making their ownership in dispute. It would behove the UN to ensure the protection of such documents until the family can be contacted...in Israel! Or are you against individual ownership of property if it was taken from a Jew?
56. #55 No I don't
Paul ,   Trinidad   (01.19.10)
But the point is that Israel is not the owner of the archives, "technically" or otherwise and jumping up and down screaming " I want it. I want it." is not going to help you get it. There is diplomacy (a skill israel has lost or deemed unimportant). There are the courts. There is the UN. But Israel wants to tell Uncle Sam " Gimme, gimme, gimme. It's mine". Unfortunately, the US has it in safekeeping for IRAQ which does have 112 billion barrels of oil.
57. Impossible to Erase Ezekiel
Christy ,   Boston, US   (01.20.10)
They can build whatever, erase whatever, but it's impossible to erase Ezekiel's Hebrew/Jewish roots. Ezekiel is a Biblical prophet who is acknowledged to be one of the ancient Hebrew prophets by both Jews & Christians. I know, as a Christian, Ezekiel's writings are read and studied around the world today by many, many Christians. I understand Muslims acknowledge him as a prophet, and that's great because he was. However, Ezekiel was never a Muslim prophet. There were no Muslims, or Christians, when Ezekiel was alive. Ezekiel was acknowledged as a Hebrew prophet for centuries before Muslims even existed. What do they hope to gain by trying to change Ezekiel's history, or by trying to erase the history of the Jewish people in their country?
58. #2 - Eric
MichaelF ,   Silver Spring MD USA   (01.20.10)
Moses' tomb is not in Israel, because he never entered Israel. The location of his tomb is unknown, as well.
59. #20 - Kim
MichaelF ,   Silver Spring, MD   (01.20.10)
You are misinformed. The land the Museum of Tolerance is to be built on is abandoned and not used as a gravesite.
60. Is anyone surprised by this?
MichaelF ,   Silver Spring, MD US   (01.20.10)
I guess those who brought all that crap from the Bush administration that once Saddam was deposed, the Iraqis would build a democratic government that would seek peaceful relations with Israel and would be tollerant of western values -- they would be surprised. I am not. The truth is Maliki is far worse than Saddam ever was. His government is tied to Iran, supports Hezbollah, and persecutes opposition parties. Their attitude towards Jews and Israel is on line with their Iranian masters. This was to be expected.
