1. As subtle as a bull in a china shop
Ty ,   Haifa, Israel   (01.13.10)
It would seem that we are losing our grace with each passing public act done on behalf of our government representatives. I wonder if there is such a thing as ettiquette school for ministers and public heads of state - it would be wise to send the whole lot to such a finishing school
2. So Erdogan can say what he likes ?
DT ,   TA Israel   (01.13.10)
Forget the "diplomacy". Tell it as it is and as Ayalon did
3. Diplomacy means....
Talula ,   Israel   (01.13.10)
Not talking so loud so everyone can hear you!!!!
4. jewS ın turkey ıs not well, we are lıke slaves
ıstanbul   (01.13.10)
5. To #4- My jewish friends and family members dont think so.
Ibrahim ,   Ankara Turkey   (01.13.10)
6. Turkish diplomats act like primadonnas
Cynthia ,   USA   (01.13.10)
With Erdogan leading the pack. Turkey pollutes their media with government approved anti-Israel propaganda then expects royal treatment from Israel. Diplomacy is a two way street and Erdogan is obviously conflicted over Turkey's relationship with Israel. Iran wants closer ties with Turkey and is likely pressuring Turkey to cut ties with Israel. Before Iran entered the picture, Israel and Turkey shared good relations.
7. Foreign Ministry
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (01.13.10)
The Europeans rejected Turkey's attempts to join Europe and the Americans have downgraded Turkey in favor of the Saudis. The Turks have no choice but to look for other allies. Erdogan, an Islamist and Arabist, decided to go for the Saudis so he consistently attacks Israel in a crude and primitive way. But the Turks are a great nation and won't agree to be Saudi subjects. Soon Erdogan will be gone and Turkey will return to be a secular state. Israel's Foreign Ministry should not have fallen into Erdogan's trap and attacked Turkey, but should have condemned Erdogan and his racist policies.
8. ayalon
eddy ,   istanbul   (01.13.10)
is a total amateur.
9. Enough of him
Sara   (01.13.10)
That his Deputy should now offer future clarifications "in more diplomatic means" shows just how un suited he is for the job too. Has he and his boss calculated the cost to Israel of a Turkish-Iranian alliance? Do the math! Turkey+Iran+Syria= RED LINES CROSSED. We are in the hands of dangerous incompetents who are adolescents as men and as politicians. These are the kind of people who cause wars.
10. Turkey is so understanding with its own struggle with terror
Yaniv ,   Israel   (01.13.10)
We beat Turkey by far in freedoms and human rights issues (according to freedomhouse.org agrees) but yet they have much to say about Israel. Although I am pro-Kurdish independence, I have understanding when PKK attacks civilians and agree that PKK should be hunted, jailed and killed, but these hypocrites of the Turkish political elite and majority of Turkish population, just can't see through the eyes of Jews and our state. Turkey is supposed to be a strategic ally, but today I don't see anything strategic keeping them as a friend. They, like all Muslim states, voted against Israel's independence. They only like us when we have good hardware to sell them, so they kill Kurds and raid N. Iraq, a place more democratic than their own state.
11. ayalon
Rinda DiLibda ,   Africa, The Sudan   (01.13.10)
Is a totally professional politician. There is nothing to apologize about. What he did was justified, he made the clarification, and the PM accepted it. End of story. The Turkish side has a lot of clarification to do also regarding the continuous anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli slanders and foreign politics especially from their hyper-anti Semitic arrogant Erdogan. He showed his true colors, true intentions, and there is no diplomacy about that. Stop being hyper sensitive about a country, politicians who made it clear, they are in another Islamic path against Israel. No more allies, but foes. Ayalon did nothing to be ashamed of nor he ruined his career. The Turks needed to know the dissatisfaction from the Israeli side against their continuous hatred. To me, ayalon represent the Israeli dignity, something Lieberman emphasized on since he was appointed as an FM. Now, when you'll hear the next Turkish hate speech, you'll understand that you need to let go of Turkey for a while, it is a deep strategic decision which they have made on a long time ago, with or without ayalon's encounter with their ambassador. Just Move on already. Or you forgot how ordinary Turks targeted the Israeli ambassador and threw eggs on him.... Did they apologize yet for that?
12. Ayalon to behave:
Turkish   (01.13.10)
Ayalon issued a statement: "My protest against the attacks on Israel in Turkey remains valid, It is not my way to disrespect ambassadors' honor and in the future I will clarify my position in a diplomatically acceptable manner."
13. VIVA AYALON!
Zad ,   Mbabane, Swaziland   (01.13.10)
Israel needs patriotic citizens like Ayalon and his boss Liberman. Erdogan who has become worse than Ahminejad needs to be told off. What is Israel waiting for to end diplomatic ties with Turkey until the Government of Erdogan collapses. Viva Ayalon, Viva Avigardor, Viva Israel Beitenu.
14. Shame on YOU Jews
Emre ,   Istanbul   (01.13.10)
The first country which is recognized Israel State was USA, the second one was TURKEY in 1948 .... Shame on You all that your FM is treating our ambassador , so to all Turks like this...
15. Rubbish!
Yaakov ,   Jerusalem   (01.13.10)
So IF Turkey were "inching toward Iran", of course our top diplomats, Thug I and Thug II, should make sure that they are treated disgracefully, not even shaking the hand of the ambassador. Absolutely BRILLIANT diplomacy! We need to get Lieberman, Ayalon and that whole disgusting party out of the government and out of politics.
16. imbeciles
tuli ,   Framingham, MA   (01.13.10)
Imbecile people, elect imbeciles politicians. it's like peeing against the wind. God save His people from themselves
17. Behaving diplomatically in the future means apologizing NOW!
(01.13.10)
Mr. Deputy Foreign Minister Ayalon you have been rude and crass, you have been rude and crass publicly and it is your responsibility to apologize publicly! It doesn't how the Turks have been undiplomatic in the past. I for one am still disappointed by their behaviour toward our President Mr. Peres. But you as a diplomat even if you are just the number 2 diplomat of our nation need to apologize for your rude and crass behaviour so that the next time this or that nation is rude and crass to our nation you will have the moral high hand and will be able to request an apology!
18. Ayalon's "Bubble Fumble" obfusgates the real issue!
(01.13.10)
The whole business started over an anti-Israel, anti-semitic film that the Turks were funding and thanks to Mr. Ayalon's poor behavior we have lost the point! What an amateur this man is!
19. And what about the State French TV ?
Michel ,   Jerusalem   (01.13.10)
Broadcasting pure anti-zionist-antisemitic films and no protest again the French govt ?
20. No proper solution
Berkay ,   İstanbul   (01.13.10)
What is Israel's FM going to do, when another movie like this would be broadcasted in Turkey. Propablly the Turkish ambassador must crawl on his knees then.
21. what to do when anti-semitism is growing
samuel ,   israel   (01.13.10)
rampant in the arab and muslim world, including turkey, and it's leaders don't seem to give a damn? that is ongoing disrespect, and it is a problem that doesn't seem to have much a solution
22. #19, can't compare France to Turkey
David   (01.13.10)
France only broadcasted these movies, Turkey funded them. I disapprove of both, but they still aren't the same thing.
23. Mr. Ayalon forgot to behave with dhimmitude
bob ,   potamac md usa   (01.13.10)
Mr. Ayalon should know that as an Israeli he is required to grovel before all Muslim authorities, including those from Turkey. Bad dhimmi!
24. #20
Yaniv ,   Israel   (01.13.10)
Your acting as if Turkish anti-Semitism hurts us more than it hurts you, as if we the Israeli people are the ones who have to solve your internal problems for you. I'm a great believer in statistics and there are overwhelming statistics that any nation suffering from widespread anti-Semitism, eventually falls under totalitarian control and millions die. Why? Because the Jewish people are the pillars of Western civilization and greco-roman judeo-christian culture, so wide-scale attacks on Jews is an attack on the West, freedom and democracy. So if you have an intellect, survival instinct and care about any of these most superior values and the culture of the West, you would be alarmed any time you see anti-Semitism pop up its ugly face.
25. #16 you touch the point.Very true comments ,short and says
Sami ,   Lebanon   (01.13.10)
it all
26. reprimand
colin   (01.13.10)
FANTASTIC WONDERFUL Ayalon you have brought back pride to Israel Do never back down like the cowardly groveling wimps presently in the Israeli leadership, This language is the only way these anti Israel swines understand.
27. To #4
Hakan Caliskan ,   Ukraine   (01.13.10)
Jews in Turkey living like slaves? hahah If you are unhappy open the door and go (there is another word to say but I am a kind person). So If you have no money to back to Jerusalem (sure you have) Turkish government or me will help you. What are friends for.
28. #22 If someone has already said what you want to say
Yaniv ,   Israel   (01.13.10)
why say it yourself when you can quote someone else? Because Europe wnt to far with their anti-Semitism and Jew hatred has become politically incorrect in Europe, what does a modern European anti-Semite do? He publishes/broadcasts the work of non-European anti-Semites. Or did you really believe there's such a thing as anti-Zionism that is not anti-Semitic?
29. Idiotic Behavior
Barbaros Oner ,   Sydney/Australia   (01.13.10)
Turkish ambasador is not Erdogan and is representing me, more than Erdogan and Bibi is not much better than Erdogan in that sense, if not worse but; this imbacile, idiot Ayalon is not the person to represent Jewish people...
