1. Finally A Great Opinion Article
Hesh ,   Bet Shemesh   (01.14.10)
I guess even Yediot prints something good every once in a while - this article is true to every word, the only thing it does not address is why there is so much hatred for the Kahane name. Rabbi Meir Kahane is vilified repeatedly, and mostly by people who did not know him, never read one of his books - many horrible views, ideas, and statements are attributed to the man, and almost all are untrue, or taken horribly out of context.
2. Excellent article, my sentiments exactly
Jamie   (01.14.10)
3. apology is the new fashion ......end
nancy   (01.14.10)
4. Civil war in the making
m   (01.14.10)
War against "settlers of Israel". What would the old "setters" say if they could see what's happening today? Remember "homa u migdal"?
5. A feeling of deja vu
Kylie ,   Cambridge, UK   (01.14.10)
Compassion? What about feeling compassion for the palestinian farmers who legally own the land which is being stolen in order to build these settements? I am pro-israeli, but really its obvious that in the end, they will have to leave judea and samaria
6. Bibi is bad for the Jews
Norman   (01.14.10)
7. A security service for the Jews?
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (01.14.10)
B"H Whereas I agree with 95% of what you write here Yoel, I cannot help thinking your piece is based on the Kahane kid's arrest and release articles' talkbacks, published two weeks ago. Those talkbacks clearly show that this time the public did not buy this KGB ooops shin bet (Israeli not-so-secret service) ploy and so for you it was safe to submit your article for publication. It seems it took them two weeks to have it cleared. This country has matured and many have learned how its dirty tricks departments work. The 5% I don't agree with? One of your last sentences. You write: ".. those responsible for arresting him and those who spewed hatred towards him should do some soul searching and offer this kid and his family a public apology". You show yourself naive here Yoel. The "people" who arrested him have no souls to search and thus can not offer this superb young man or to his family any public or private apology. Even if they did apologize, it would have no meaning whatsoever: they are like service dogs and are ready to bite without thinking again, on command from their handler. If you want the services to retain, as you put it, a searchable soul, you have to allow for what is incorrectly reported as “insubordination”. In reality what we are talking about here is allowing rather simple, Jewish morals to squeak into the system. The fact that the Netanyahu-Barak-Aharonowitz regime fights this idea is of course a terrible sign of the incredible deterioration of a security service, that originally was established for the Jews. Today, they are working against them.
8. AWSOME OPINION ARTICLE!!!
KACH 613 ,   Judah, Israel   (01.14.10)
Wow I never thought I would say this but awesome opinion article by Y Net. The reason why we have this incitement against us is because they know that Kahane was right, they we have the most public support we had in the history of The State Of Israel. There will be a day very soon that Kahane’s views will be main stream, if we haven’t reached that point yet.
9. Great Article
Rod ,   Fargo U.S.A   (01.14.10)
As long as Israel is in the grip of leftists whose Children run to foreign countries or get Psychological deferments for a price. As well as take orders from groups who call themselves Jewish or Zionist but receive money from Arabs ,Muslims and the E.U..this situation will remain the same.
10. Important point
Danny ,   Tel Aviv   (01.14.10)
It seems the point the author made about having compassion for an orphaned kid is so important. Although personally I don't agree with Rav Kahane's ideology, I am amazed and appalled at the hatred that is spewed towards him and his family. Although as a people we can disagree amongst ourselves, there is no room or need for such hatred. We're supposed to be a compassionate people and care about each other, whether we're secular Israelis like myself, or Bnei Brak haredim, or followers of Rav Kahane in the Shomron.
11. shabak
Yisraeli   (01.15.10)
I look forward to the day when theres a real change in government led by real jewish people like Moshe Feiglin and one of its first duties will be to arrest all those working in the "Jewish Dept." of shabak and bring them to trial for working against their own people. Israel is not theyre place, gaza is better suited for them. I hope I will live to see this day. The once proud legacy of shabak serving its country has long been tarnished by these few vermin in our midst.
12. Israel needs "incitement" to follow the rule of law?
BBSNews ,   Charlotte, NC   (01.15.10)
Why? Just kick the illegal squatters out. They never belonged there in the first place, Israel made an existential error in sending them there, and the state of Israel bears full responsibility for the calamity that the various and sundry illegal occupations have brought upon Israel. Kahane has nothing to do with it. Israel breaking the law by enabling the illegal squatters, does. Those who were "disengaged" from the Gaza Strip had nothing wrong "done" to them. They should have known the entire time that what they were doing was illegal, immoral and wrong, stealing always is, and that eventually reality would catch up and they would have to leave their ill-gotten digs. And so it will be with the rest of the squatters. Even if Israel has to be dragged kicking and screaming to do it.
13. The media needs to be regulated
Fred ,   Holon, Israel   (01.15.10)
The main media outlets unfortunately are controlled by the same forces that betrayed Deputy foreign Minister Daniel Ayalon by revelaing his commnets made to them in Hebrew concerning the meeting with the Turkish Ambassador. ''Pay attention that he is sitting in a lower chair ... that there is only an Israeli flag on the table and that we are not smiling.'' Their report caused a further crisis.
14. Excellent column, Yoel. Thank you!
Marcella   (01.15.10)
15. To # 12 - Give me a break!
Ellen ,   Boston   (01.15.10)
Why do you have to spew more hatred here? In addition to being totally wrong, your comments have nothing to do with the article. This kid, whose parents were murdered by Arab terrorists, was harassed without sympathy simply because of his family name in order to create incitement against fellow Jews. In Judaism, such an act is really, really bad.
16. Are there no limits?
Natan ,   Haifa   (01.16.10)
Assuming that the author is right and this was incitement (it sure looks like it), are there no limits? Leave the kid and his family alone, they've suffered enough.
