One of the basic requirements of citizenship is to protect your country. The problem here can be put on the backs of our education system. History classes need to include the history of the state and not end in 1948. Importance of Israel as a country must be taught and emphasized Basic citizenship must also be included in education from elementary school onwards. Basic Jewish ideals must be taught without being just about ritual and doing mitzvahs. Youth must be made to realize that their heritage is important and Israel isn't just another country.
