Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (01.14.10)
Aside from the fact that Arab/Muslim nations were assisting in the UN stabilization mission in Haiti before the earthquake (Israel did not take part) I think you will find that there will be far more ‘Arab aid’ to Haiti that what Israel can muster. I can confirm however that the UAE is setting up an air bridge to take humanitarian supplies to Haiti. It is still very early days and pledges and aid transfers are still in the works but give it a few days and you will see that Arab/Muslim nations will assist in a far greater way that Israel’s token gesture. I am reminded of the Tsunami disaster a few years ago and reading Israeli posters patting themselves on the back for their country’s ‘generous’ contribution to relief efforts however after a month or two it was shown that Israel was around 5th last in the table of nations who assisted in relief efforts and aid donations. I suspect that this will be the case again.
6. :: Simple stunning!
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (01.14.10)
"[...] based on the Jewish tradition of assisting other human beings". Would it not be more apt and less hypocritical to assist those human beings that have been under brutal Israeli occupation for decades? Personally I would like to see this ‘Jewish tradition of assisting other human beings’ applied to the people of Gaza and the WB. Obviously the best way to assist these people is to stop the illegal occupation and land theft. The fact is that Israel is sending a team half way around the world to help alleviate a humanitarian disaster while for years Israel has actually been trying to *create* a humanitarian disaster in Gaza. The hypocrisy is simple stunning.
7. To 5 Oh lets point out somethings
The Dude   (01.14.10)
Stabilization mission? Good job they were doing there. Your subtle jab at Israel not taking part is due to two reasons. 1. Israel isn't allowed to be grouped in its region for the UN, and hence cannot be part of security council missions, 2. Israeli soldiers always have their hands full dealing with terrorists. Guess whose fault it is? Really, Arab/Muslim nations will give greater? In what proportion, a country like KSA could give 10 billion dollars now, without any harm to there GDP. The fact is that relative to what Israel has, it gives far more. Also this 'token' gesture of a field hospital is far more appreciated than a getting a 'check'. Because guess what, after an earthquake you want to see a doctor, no promises of money that you might not see tomorrow. Also your attempts at with the Tsunami example are fallacious. The fact is that Indonesia the hardest hit country, doesn't recognize Israel and refused to take aid, that limits what you can give. Also Israel gives something a lot more valuable. First responder help, getting people out of buildings and saving there lives. The fact was that what made the difference after the Tsunami were American helicopters dropping in food, and Israeli doctors stitching up people, not Arab/Muslim countries writing a check and then forgetting about it. But I suspect that this will be the case, coming in late, and not doing any of the heavy lifting. Typical.

At the moment only the UAE and turkey have sent aid. Pakistan already had a team there working for the un who are now helping for survivors.Checked on wikipedia.

Dear sir, I am impressed for your excellent talback. It is accurate and wise. But, with all my respect, I will give an advice to you Please do not spend your time with this guy Matty. I was reading all of his posts here, and after a deep thinking, my conclusion is that he is an Psicotic Anti-Semite and Israel-Hater with no hope in changing his idiotic mind, like the oprobious Goebbels, Hitler or Eichmann Respectfully- Dave from Argentina
10. There goes "Matty Groves", one week
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (01.15.10)
out of commission and now back to the same old stale points. Really, I would have thought that with a vacation, he could have come up with a fresh perspective. "Matty", like his counterpart, Michael Hess (BBSNews) is actually a self-righteous bore.
11. Whatever aide we give which, after all,
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (01.15.10)
is charitable, should not be made fun of as "observer" has done. "Observer's) two postings are just witness to his/her clumsiness and ignorance . On the other hand, we needn't be bragging about our own good works. That, also, is rather distasteful. At any rate, the best kind of charity is that which is done wiothout any fanfare.
12. Do not fight with each other. Everyone GOT to help..........

Good job The Dude, #7. As to the victims of the Haiti earthquake, may things get better soon bezrat hashem. I am glad to see Israel is investing what resources it can muster to help.
14. Seriously?
Todd ,   USA   (01.15.10)
Great job, everyone! Three million people who need help, and we complain because someone does or does not show up to help in the way we think they should. Put a check on your attitude! Helping these people is neither a competition nor a merit badge, neither a political nor religious ends. It is simply human. Would that Christian, Jew, and Muslim could stand shoulder to shoulder to face those in suffering with love. How about after the crisis is mediated we all get together and have a slug fest? Until then, whoever shows up in whatever fashion and whatever help in whatever quantity they decide in their hearts to give, may God bless you for your service. I have a boy in Haiti I support through Compassion International. I don't care who helps him, just please help him and his people. It's not about how great we are, it's about how needy he is.
15. #8, Turks and Pakistanis aren't Arabs
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (01.15.10)
And the UAE is populated by over 50% non-Arabs.
16. to #5
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (01.15.10)
I haven't heard of any Arab country announcing that it is sending aid in the media. I think that the help Israel is sending is quite a lot considering the small size of our country. You can't compare us to the US or other countries with 10 times the population and resources.
17. Now the death toll is closer to 100,000 the tv news says...
Rivkah   (01.15.10)
It is curious watching the events how many Ambassadors to Haiti and orphanage directors and missionary heads were away from Haiti when the earthquake occurred. One orphanage director said this was his first visit to the USA in 10 years. President Franklin Roosevelt said that when something happens, it is planned. When an underground nuclear explosion occurred in Mexico City in the 1980's killing 3500+ people, Mexico signed a mutual defense treaty with Russia it had been unwilling to sign before that. A week or so before the 2004 tsunami that killed 250,000 or more people in Indonesia Vladimir Putin of Russia said Russia would not be restricted in its war on terror. Baneh Aseh was then the headquarters of Al Qaida near the epicenter of the curious flash of light on the ocean and then a half mile water spout before the tsunami, just like a nuclear under ocean explosion. Of course, some think it was a methanol explosion from exploration of methanol beneath the ocean. But would methanol cause a flash of light and a half mile high water spout like a nuclear explosion? Events are getting curiouser and curiouser.
18. Why no air-drops?
Raoul ,   Herzlia   (01.15.10)
No helicopters, air-born troops. It was known that the small and damaged airport would not be able to cope.
19. what Jews brought to the Black slaves
observer   (01.15.10)
"In that day shall messengers go forth from me in ships to make the careless Khooshim (Negroes) afraid, and great pain shall come upon them, as in the days of Egypt" (Ezekiel 30:9), "And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations [of black Africa], and will disperse them through the countries [via the slave-trade]; and they shall know that I am LORD." (Ezekiel 30:26). Noah cursed Ham's descendants to be servants of servants in the house of Japhet and Shem. Does Universal Yahweh curse the Black race?
20. 17 correction: Methane gas exploration, not methanol.
Rivkah   (01.15.10)
21. #19 What help is your country sending?
Cynthia ,   USA   (01.15.10)
