The blockade is more about forcing Hamas from power than anything else. Once Hamas and the PA rejoin then Egypt will lift blockade. One problem is that Hamas gains more control of the people because of the blockade since only they are getting more than basic supplies by way of the tunnels. This blockade is simply wrong but Hamas is too dangerous to leave in control. Gaza can not feed itself due to fishermen unable to fish except close to the coast, most greenhouses, gardens, fruit trees and the flour mill were destroyed in Cast Lead, which was mostly done in the last days of the operation.
