1. So long as big fat America meddles, there will b no peace
Nour ,   Palestine   (01.16.10)
and the reason is very simple, American is not playing its expected role of peace broker, but is acting to protect Israeli interest above its own. End of story. In the meantime Palestine can't complain, because an Arab majority from river to sea will check injustice and reverse 100 years of bloody Zionism. Time's on our side. Mitchell - STAY HOME !
2. Mitchel RUINED talks by promises to Abbas that he would hand
Alan ,   SA   (01.16.10)
over everything that Abbas demanded. He made unrealistic promises about settlements. Not even Arafat demanded a full freeze!Of course, it was on Obama's orders.
3. Perhaps you could respond, Nour,
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (01.16.10)
with regard to the research of Yoram Ettinger's demographics in the Israel/Palestine region. One of his conclusions is that Palestinian population figures are wildly overexaggerated. He submits that the scientific enterprise has been perverted for political reasons. He also concludes that the Palestinian population does not threaten the Israeli Jewish population, demographically speaking. If this, in fact, is the case, then your own conclusions are based on faulty (untrue) research.
4. World knows
Ian ,   Ireland   (01.16.10)
Israel took Palestine with the help of America, Britain and France They took the land of Palestine by force, it might take the Palestinians six hundred years but they will win, because they are the rightful owners of Palestine. Force does not mean you’re right. Israel will fall because they are in the dead wrong. We have a saying in Ireland when you’re in trouble in the hole STOP digging.
5. #3
Nour ,   Palestine   (01.16.10)
Just who is Yoram Ettinger? This is not the first time I see you, and others, quote him. Ettinger is not a scientist, nor is he a demography expert. What he seams to master is to provide a few weak arguments based on mere speculation, to serve a political agenda. Even if Ettinger is right, which I doubt, what will still obtain if the status quo is maintained is apartheid. Check the definition of the word again, it doesn't mention an oppressed majority, but: "...context of an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one racial group over any other racial group or groups and committed with the intention of maintaining that regime."" If you ask me, today's situation is full-fledged apartheid. If you disagree with me, you won't tomorrow when Arabs will constitute 50% if not more of the population beyond the Jordan River. It's amazing how denial has become reality in Israel.
6. Victimhood Keeps On Paying Well, eh?

7. Mitchell visit re peace talks
Robert Cabitt ,   Boston, MA, USA   (01.16.10)
The rockets will continue to rain on Israel until they elect a prime minister who has the will and the courage to drive the Palestinians and Hamas out of Gaza and the West Bank. When George Bush gives back his Crawford,Texas ranch to the Native Americans is when peace will come to Israel. To the victor goes the spoils. Americans killed thousands of Indians during the conquest of the United States. The Indians that survived were placed in concentration camps euphemistically described as reservations where alcoholism and unemployment reigns. Since the Bureau of Indians Affairs has granted gambling casino licenses, some Indian tribes have prospered. Maybe gambling casinos are the solution for the Palestinians.

tom ,   toronto, canada   (01.16.10)
"The letter of guarantees must include a clause according to which the international community recognizes a Palestinian state with the 1967 borders, including east Jerusalem according to international law.?" oh, please! abu mazzen and his crew are such bold-faced liars. international law never recognized the 1947 armistice lines as final borders because of illegal ARAB aggression, but it does recognize the 1967 borders as legal conquest in a defensive war. that includes east jerusalem, which is half of israel's capital, and has NEVER been an arab capital, ever. the capital of arab palestine is in amman, as it has been since 1923. the capital of fatahland is ramallah, and the capital of hamastan is gaza city. how many more capitals do they need?
11. Peace Pimps
Marcel ,   Florida   (01.16.10)
After 16 plus years on the same failed Road to disaster the pimp for peace returns to squeeze more life out of Israel. Jews are soon to be directed to live in only UN approved ghetto's SO THAT THE iSLAMISTS CAN HAVE THEIR 23 STATE. And Israel still plays this game of lose.
12. The big lies.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (01.16.10)
Peace will never happen without realism and truth. And realism must begin with rejecting the big lies and manipulations, (the big lie about Jerusalem, the big lie about the refugees, the big lie of the Palestinian peoplehood… ), before it shatters any hope of peace not just for Israelis and Arabs but for the rest of the world as well. The center of the dispute is not Hamas or the Palestinians but the West and Islam. The historical and political truth about rights and legitimity can be read in its 5 parts at :
13. The Arabs are unwilling to make any concession.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (01.16.10)
When the enemy is an Arab entity unwilling to make any concession whatsoever, and when the world expects Israel always to give and the Arabs always to take, then to continue along that same path to nowhere, becomes an Israeli self-delusion, leading to worse: Self destruction. It is high time for Israel to be making demands upon the Arabs, starting with territorial concessions from the vast Arab world. To put things right :
14. #13 You're exactly on, spot on!
Nour ,   Palestine   (01.16.10)
Abbas the moron has absolutely nothing to gain from the so-called "talks". You lie and say the PA and Arabs extended no concessions. The PA had given up '48 Arab lands, and effectively settled to negotiate over the remaining 22% of historical Palestine DESPITE an inevitable Arab majority beyond the Jordan River. The PA's concession didn't stop there. They waged war on Hamas and the resistance factions in order to stabilize the situation and offer a conducive environment for the so-called "negotiations". 20 years of this charade and what's the result? 300,000 settlers flooded Palestine and East Jerusalem cleansed of its Arab inhabitants day after day, while the world watches. You think we want to talk? I'd rather watch a soap or peel potato. NO TALKS. NO CONCESSIONS. YES to the PALESTINE SOLUTION from River to Sea. Time's up, and it's on our side anyway. Tick tock tick.
15. #12 Interesting
Nour ,   Palestine   (01.16.10)
It's quite interesting, your questioning of our 'peoplehood'. The last time I checked, "Israeliness" was a synthesized term use to describe a collective of ethnicities who have nothing in common (race, culture, etc.) except a claim to a bogus "Jewish" identity. If anyone should could be concerned about the legitimacy of their nationality, it's you! In the meantime, we're here, we've been here, and we'll remain here forever. Centuries and millenia have proved it. You on the other hand can't say otherwise, so be careful with your chest-beating. You live in the ME today because the US, Britain and France say you can.

17. To 5 & 14 Again, a Failure to Accept Reality....
The Dude   (01.16.10)
Wow, I'm always impressed to read self-delusions of these grandeur. But even this surpasses what I believed humanly possible.... Your apartheid argument is quite simply, daft. Looking at the definition you prescribe "...context of an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one racial group over any other racial group or groups and committed with the intention of maintaining that regime." The fact is that Arabs who hold Israeli citizenship receive, full rights to vote, to serve in the army, represent themselves in public offices (Go ask Bishara, oops bad example!), and so on as any member of Israeli society. The Palestinians do not hold Israeli citizenship, hence they do not fall under these rights and privileges. The same way the US, the EU, and whichever country does not extend privileges and rights to non-citizens, even long standing alien residents. Your arguments of 'systematic' only stand up in your head where I'm sure the laws of gravity and physics don't apply as well... In regard to demography, I am not an expert, but your argument of a majority between the 'ocean and the sea' is ridiculous. The fact is that it doesn't matter how many Palestinians there are in non-Israeli controlled areas, they do not have citizenship and hence have no right to vote in Israeli elections. This isn't which 'group' has the largest population in a geographical zone and hence 'wins', if that was the case, technically China wins the area from the Urals to the sea.... And now onto your other arguments. The statement that the PA and the Arab world have given up the 48 territories is a flat out lie. School children are still taught that one day they will liberate, Haifa, Tel-Aviv, Akko, Ashkelon and so on. This is (very alleged) irredentism at its finest. It also ignores the fact that in the 48' war of independence the infamous comment of the Arab League Secretary General. "This will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre which will be spoken of like the Mongolian massacres and the Crusades" The fact was that this was not only about territory, but about attempting a second holocaust, one the Arab world boasted about 3 years after the first holocaust. Then you lost and now have the audacity to demand 'reparations' for a war you started and refuse to take responsibility for. The argument that the PA has waged war against terror organization is still crap. The reason why rockets are not landing in Tel-Aviv is because the IDF sits there Judea and Samaria. The PA has only shown it's willingness to fight other organizations for the sake of keeping power, such was the case of Gaza, except they were overwhelmed by Hamas and thrown out. The 'stabilization' you talk about is due to operations Defensive Shield and Cast Lead, nothing the PA or it's Praetorian guard "Dayton Forces" have done. And the fact is that Fatah has been more responsible for the killing of more Jews than Hamas and still actively supports the Al-Aksa Brigade and Tanzim forces. So much for stopping 'resistance' forces. And your argument of a "Palestine Solution"... what is it exactly? What honestly will you do? Declare a state and that all territory that Israel currently holds is yours? Drive the Jews to the sea? Vote us into Kafir status, hence making an Arab enforced Apartheid? How exactly will you go about this? Will you invade and wipe us out? Gas chambers at the ready to take care of the civilian population that doesn't die in bombing raids? Declare war? What exactly will you do differently to destroy Israel than fail as always like the past 60 years?
18. I see that as always there is no pressure on the Arabs
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.16.10)
Despite our resident Gobbels wantabe Nour, the Arabs have NEVER given any concession. Nor have they EVER fulfilled a single obligation. Nor has anybody ever put any pressure whatsoever on the Arabs to do any such thing. They continue to get a free ride and attack us every chance they get. The reality is that we will have to destroy the PNA and deport the illegal squatters back to their own lands EAST of the Jordan
19. Nour and the rest of his tribe
Glenn ,   Earth   (01.16.10)
It amazes me that the Arabs consistently tsalk about liberating the land belongoing to Palestine and that the jews "stole"it from them. Why does the 6th Century not count when the arabs invaded Palestine in order to create their Islamic Empire. There were no arabs there before this and there certainly was no palestinian land before Israel. These terrritories belonged to Egypt and Jordan. JORDAN IS YOUR COUNTRY. GET THE HELL OUT OF ISRAEL.

21. The Dude says it all-very eloquently as well!!!
22. this is the first responsible approach to talks taken by Oba
zionist forever   (01.16.10)
The only reason Abbas is playing hardball now and making all these demands as a condition of honoring us with his presence so talks can be held on the possibility of creating a state for his people is because of Obamas attitude running around the islamic world letting them know Israel is the enemy of his administration as well as the arabs. As a result Abbas has been given the impression that all he needs to do is draw up a shopping list and Obama will get everything on that list for him. It probably has more to do with the fact that there are midterms coming up in November & the Democrats don't want to anger jewish voters & Mitchel made on Obamas behalf the empty threat on withholding loan guarantees. Whatever the reason though its the first time that the Obama regime has taken a responsible & practical approach instead of an anti Israel idealist one.
23. To nour and many others : Did you say a “Palestinian people”
Ron B. ,   Lod   (01.16.10)
According to Zahir Muhsein, the leader of the al-Sa'iqa Organization : “The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a PALESTINIAN STATE IS ONLY A MEANS FOR CONTINUING OUR STRUGGLE AGAINST THE STATE OF ISRAEL for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct 'Palestinian people' to oppose Zionism for tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa. While as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem.” - Zahir Muhsein, the leader of the al-Sa'iqa Organization revealed the truth in an interview to the Dutch newspaper Trouw (March 31 1977). 24. @ Nour 5, 14 re: Apartheid
blash ,   Los Angeles   (01.16.10)
Take a look at the definition you quote - it very clearly defines that the oppression has to be conducted by one "racial group" over another "racial group". So let's ask the relevant questions: are Israelis a racial group, and are Palestinians a racial group? Israelis are NOT a racial group. There are people of many races who have Israeli citizenship - Jews whose ancestors were Eastern European, Jews whose ancestors were from the Middle East, non-Jews who are family members of Jews (i.e. if a Jew married someone of Indian descent), Bedouins and other Arab minorities who arguably do not have a different racial makeup than many Jews of Middle Eastern descent, Ethiopian Jews, etc. etc. Ergo, there is no ONE racial group that defines Israelis. "Palestinian" is NOT a racial group, it is a national identity. There are Muslims who are not Palestinian, there are Arabs who are not Palestinian, there are Christian Palestinians, and there are Israeli Palestinians (people who share both an Israeli identity and a Palestinian identity in the same way that there are people who, like myself, hold both American and Israeli citizenship) - and all of their ensuing racial backgrounds. So is the situation apartheid? Absolutely not.
25. 4 state solution
ezer   (01.16.10)
The truth is that there is no 2 or 3 state solution (counting Hamastan) but the only solution is a 4 state solution including resettlement & citizenship rights & confederacy to Palistinians withing Jordan which itself is 90% palistinian. Any state set up in the West Bank for palestinians is a recipe for disaster and likely to be a basket case terrorist state that will endanger Israel.
26. Dour Nour
Marcel ,   Florida   (01.16.10)
The difference between the koran and the Tanakh is that every prophetic word scribed by the Jewish prophets has come true ,Every, dot, every word. That is why Israel is still there in a sea of impotent Islam and you're still crying. Here is what you can expect shortly,Nour. I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD. Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end: Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: since thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.
