In real estate the land ownership or a parcel of land and its borders are referenced along the neighboring parcels of land. When there are no neighboring references how can the ownership be determined or claimed as Palestinian Arab? Title ownership, police powers, zoning regulations, etc. are defined by a sovereign entity. However, there has never been a sovereign Palestinian Arab entity in the history of this planet. Had there been one the legality of ownership would have been present but again there is none. Historically, it is the Jewish land but the Arabs just as so many other neighbors where the Jews lived claim what is definitely Jewish. Whether in the name peace, Palestinian traditions or a Palestinian Arab state it is still not their land. Just because the Arabs want it to be their land or the enemies of Israel want it to be the Palestinian land it is still NOT so. If the Arabs can build their communities/settlements on that “disputed” land without the legal sovereignty so can the Jews. However, what we see is that everybody is pointing the finger at the Jews while the Arab building or unauthorized occupation of the “disputed” land is totally ignored.

Ariel is not a collection of 20-30 settlers living in caravans and surrounded by hostile arabs. Its legally classed as a city and has a population of around 30,000. was founded in the 70s long before we started talking about palestinians or using buzz words like occupation and illegal settlement. All thats happening is we are giving an existing institution a new title so why the sudden interest. Ariel University also has both jewish and arab students it does not bar arabs. They have already tried the academic boycotts before and its not changed policies. Calling for a boycott of Ariel university won't change anything students will continue to go there and study and the only people an academic boycott hurts is academics who won't get invited to conferences at expensive hotels. NO #27, I'm not talking about a boycott, but about academic recognition which every university acquires because of its level of accomplishments and not on the basis of its political nationalistic goals. It will be like certain Lithuanian universities or those that sell degrees on the internet. A student who studies for 3 years or more deserves getting a degree that is worth something everywhere. Like Alice in Wonderland, calling something a university does not make it a university.

Yes, I am so proud of the Israeli settlers, who manage to set up institute of higher learning. That is college and eventually university. Yes, very surprised about fulmination of Hain Bereshit against recognizing of Ariel College as a university. He must have lost his mind. Well, let us support the settlers in their efforts to incorporate Judea, Samaria and Aza into Eretz Yisrael.
