Didn't Dylan once convert to Christianity and make some religious albums? Then back to Judaism so his boy could be Bar Mitzvah-ed at the Wall. Then he released an Xmas album late last year. What religion is this guy? He certainly is no Jew. I loved him in the 60's -- but NO MORE!

Dylan is Jewish. He did once convert but them came back to Judaism. That is his right and thank goodness he ultimately found his way back. Many people feel a need for spiritual change and sometimes it is misguided. As for the Christmas album, this was done as a charitable project for hunger relief and Dylan did not receive one dime of financial benefit. Obviously, a Christmas album would produce the biggest charitable bang rather than a Hannukah album. Lighten up, the guy is still a genius and embraces Judaism and that is that.

Dylan seems to have a history becoming a group's "poster boy" and then ditching them. Folk music, rock, Christian music (and Christianity for a while)... I prefer my "thinking" musical heroes to be as consistent as Leonard Cohen. As for my "bigotry," some of my best friends are Christians :-)!

He said and I paraphrase when asked if was a Buddist, "I already have a perfectly good religion," referring of course to Judaism. Saw him at Radio City Music Hall in NYC last May. Amazing energy and talent.
