Their antipathy toward Israel has been evident for many years, and their disgraceful behavior is unequaled in other countries to which these State Department flunkies are posted. Hopefully, Israeli officials don't sweep this incident under the rug, because not only is it an important security issue, but it's also symptomatic of a mindset that produces American ambassadors (like some who served in Syria and Iraq, for example) who'll rationalize any anti-American behavior on the part of Arab countries, while treating Israel as if it's America's enemy.

Israel should request the diplomats who acted like children be replaced with adults. This guy is not a diplomat, he is a regional security officer, probably a marine. His training is in combat, not diplomacy or history. It sounds like he was overruled by his civilian commander and it was agreed that foreign nationals would be search while diplomats would only have to show their credentials. Obviously it is unfortunate that he spoke this way, but certainly we could find Israeli security guards who would make uneducated and undiplomatic comments. While highly educated Israelis and Israeli diplomats might know something about say, the man who assassinated the American President J.F.K., it is unlikely your security personnel would.
