3. :: No other nations..?! What BS!!
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (01.26.10)
“There are no other nations with strength, willingness, dedication, determination to help in this way.” Col. Itzik Kreis stated while patting himself on the back. “There are no other nations with strength, willingness, dedication, determination to help in this way.” Really? Lets look at Cuba. Like Israel Cuba is a very small country but is much poorer than Israel yet it has sent more doctors/health specialists to Haiti providing much the same aid and medical expertise as Israel in four locations in the capital of Haiti and also in several locations outside the city, in total the Cubans have 11 medical programs running in Haiti, approx 25,000+ earthquake victims have been treated by Cuban doctors. Cuba had hundreds of doctors in Haiti *already* helping the people of Haiti long before Israel took a notion that helping the people of Haiti would be a good PR move to improve Israel’s international image. After the earthquake Cuba sent more doctors. The Haitian Prime Minister while thanking the international community singled out Cuba for its assistance. In short while the Israeli mission did superb work and saved many lives a tiny country like Cuba has and will continue to do more for the earthquake victims than Israel did in its short stint in Haiti. Therefore can we please dispense with such erroneous and self-gratifying statements such as: “There are no other nations with strength, willingness, dedication, determination to help in this way.”

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.26.10)
To all those Israel detractors out there who scoffed, derided and dismissed Israel's contributions in Haifa (despite international acclaim and despite on-site reporting from all manner of printed and visual media sources), here are the statistics with respect to Israel's medical team: "The medical team from Israel released its last patients before the ceremony. Up until it closed, the hospital treated 1,111 residents of Haiti, performed 13 regular births and three Caesarian sections, and did 314 other surgeries." I don't know the final statistics for Israel's search and rescue teams and K-9 units, but I am certain they are equally impressive. Moreover, contrary to the naysayers, the extraordinary Israeli response to the disaster in Haiti was entirely humanitarian. Israel has responded before, in other countries, to other disasters, with equally laudatory results. Here's why international appreciation or acknowledgment for Israel's efforts, while graciously accepted, is irrelevant to Israel: http://www.aish.com/ci/s/81440012.html Jews do, after all, answer to a higher authority.
6. I hope the day will come
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (01.26.10)
I hope the day will come when the hardest job that the IDF has to do is help people in distress around the world. Last summer I drove by the city of Adapazari east of Istanbul. The small neighborhood built by Israeli effort after the big Marmara earthquake (named as Israeli village at the time) is still there with people living inside. Great job Israel and IDF.

TO MATTY GROVES You are such a big pain in the backside. You prowl these sites day and night, picking up on every tiny nuance or innuendo, that might be a fraction positive toward Israel, and you bash it to bits. You have such a terrible axe to grind. You must be an extemely hateful, bitter, disappointed person. I have a suggestion: Buy a plane ticket for Tel Aviv, and come here and see for yourself what a wonderful beautiful happening little country this is. I DARE YOU!!!
9. Yes, Matty, let's look at Cuba ... whose doctors' families..
EST ,   Miami USA   (01.26.10)
are kept hostage in Cuba lest these good doctors decide they want the freedom to choose where in the world they'd like to live. Let's look at Cuba, whose doctors volunteer to go spread the Cuban doctrine as goodwill emissaries only because then they can send the basic foodstuffs home to their wives and children...basic foodstuff that normal Cubans living in the island cannot get. Let's look at Cuba, a country whose citizens would much rather take their chances in shark infested waters than stay under the Cuban dictatorship... but I forgot, you support terrorists and terrosist regimes...
10. MATTY GROVES
(01.26.10)
you have crossed all bounds of decency and humanity. first, you do not provide a link as to your lies and inane propaganda for cuba, which has really, in retrospect, only sent 21 medical doctors, 17 rescue workers and about one and a half tons of medicine and food. the cuban field hospital was an actual clinic, not a surgical full equipped hospital, aided mainly by un representative doctors, not working independently, but in conjunction with un doctors. further, cuban the clinic was not in any way equipped to perform complicated surgeries and that is why un doctors worked in conjunction with the cuban medical team. the un representative in the cuban clinic had to send its severe cases to other hospitals on the ground including the israeli field hospital for lack of supplies and lack of surgical teams and experience and equipment. this was in the news, of all places, the bbc and guardian, which are not in love with israel as you know. please stop posting unfounded facts. and if you do post those unfounded facts, one must conclude that you MUST PROVIDE A LINK AS PROOF. talking is cheap. substantiating your post is essential, EVEN IN YELLOW JOURNALISM. OTHERWISE IT IS CONSIDERED PROPAGANDA. as i have mentioned, your stated facts just fail to corroborate the news around the world and no newspaper up to now has wrote what you wrote. actually, cuba was blasted for being so near haiti, yet doing almost zero to help their island neighbor. that criticism was also in the news. but you may have skipped it in your hateful posts. what israel did there, they didn;t have to do. what israel did in turkey during the marmara earthquake they didn't have to do. what israel did for the tzunami victims they didn't have to do. do not begrudge the israeli jews their rightful conciousness and help. THEY DID AN EXCELLLENT JOB AND IF THEY WANT TO COMMEMORATE THEIR EFFORT, THEY DO NOT BEGRUDGE OTHER COUNTRIES THEIR EFFORTS AS WELL. finish your hate. end your jealousy and bigotry because it is starting to have an effect on your health, i am sure. there are so many other productive ways to spend your time (do you have a job?) than come on this web site to spew your hate and antisemitism. i suggest you quit when you are ahead of it because it puts you as an individual in a very negative light. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER EXCEPT HATE. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER EXCEPT BIGOTRY. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER EXCEPT LIES UNSUBSTANTIATED BY ALL NEWS REPORTS WHICH PUT YOUR CLAIMS TO SHAME AS LIES AND PURE FICTION. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER EXCEPT NEGATIVISM IN THE FORM OF OBVIOUS BIGOTRY AND SHAMEFUL HATRED OF JEWS. your posts are more of a reflection on you as a person that on any israelis your are talking about. shameful individual that you are. and this, from a muslim iranian who understands what you are all about. i suggest that instead of worrying that israel didn't do enough in haiti, you could have taken your lazy butt out to haiti and prove yourself there rather than sit on your chair spreading lies. hameed aboughaze, iranian on the other side

This is not about geographical location this is about stupid statements as I highlighted in my previous post. Ie: “There are no other nations with strength, willingness, dedication, determination to help in this way.” Only an idiot would believe that Col. Itzik Kreis statement was unique to Israel. I have clearly demonstrated that Cuba is such a nation who has previously helped the people of Haiti and continues with strength, willingness, dedication and determination to help the earthquake victims. Yes of course geographical location meant that Cuba was able to set up two field hospitals on the 13th Jan, days before the Israel mission arrived on the 15th but this is besides the point. The point you seem to miss Charles is that Cuba has, for years, helped the people of Haiti and will continue to do so long after Haiti disappears from the headlines in the Israeli media. More importantly the Cubans are not using the Haiti disaster as a PR coup. The nub pf the point is this: Israel is not unique in the aid it supplied to the people of Haiti, plenty of other countries assisted in this humanitarian effort all with *equal* ‘strength, willingness, dedication and determination’. Certainly it is called the internet, check out news media sites particularly cubaweb.cu

Thank you for your short post denigrating the Cuban Gov however you fail to explain how your rant diminishes the fact that the people of Haiti have, for years, been received greater support and aid from Cuba than Israel?

15. #11 Jealous?
Jake   (01.26.10)
Considering the size and population of Israel and distance from Haiti, the Israeli contributions per capita to the relief efforts most likely the greatest. By comparison, what were the Arab contributions? And I give you another example. During the 2007 Greek fires, Israel contributed 55 firefighters on the ground, who battled the most severe fires around Olympia, plus a team of burns specialists with firefighting planes on standby. The Arab world, despite being next door and on traditionally friendly terms with Greece, did not contribute so much as a wee-wee to fighting those fires.
16. #8 Right ON! A suggestion for a new tourism sector...
Ozraeli ,   Australia   (01.26.10)
This is a great opportunity for free enterprise and the ME entreprenurial spirit to work here! BTW, for a compilation of Haiti-Israel media references: http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2010/01/praise-for-israeli-mission-in-haiti-only-ones-operating-israeli-field-hospital-earns-accolades-as-on.html I have often thought that it is worth developing a new industry sector-"BirthWRONG Israel-Tourism for Anti Semites and Israel Haters". A lot of things would just positively blow their minds, not to mention, hopefully, dispel their delusions. Show them "The good, the bad, the ugly". Introduce them to a few "refugees", & later, ask them if, as tourists, they prefer to interact with Israelis or "Palestinans". They"ll go home realising that people in Bed-Stuy, Compton, South LA, or Roxbury are probably worse off than Gazans-certainly receiving far less aid per capita, & with less opportunities directed at them. Just think-those devious, nefarious Jews (and Arabs), making money off all the haters who come to validate their "preJewdices", and on top of everything, possibly twisting their minds to support Israel! Worthy of a Shin Bet or Mossad conspiracy theory...

18. Israel's unique capacity for narcissism
Tarik ,   Boston, MA USA   (01.26.10)
"There are no other nations with the strength, the willingness, the dedication, to help in this way." Actually, there are no nations that congratulate themselves as much as Israel. In fact, many nations contributed much more aid and support to the reconstruction than Israel. How this man arrived at the conclusion that "no other nations" showed such strengths is a testament to Israel's unique capacity for narcissism.
19. Wouldn't the hospital be more useful

treating to children in Gaza the IAF burned with white phosphorus? What was this in Haiti, a PR campaign? Why only two weeks?

phew! For a moment I thought your were going to accuse me of selling my birthright for a pair of jeans and a Big Mac. You are right I should really be the only poster here who includes footnotes in his posts. Whoa Hameed you did not include any links to back up this claim. Here let me: “Cuba: 60 doctors to add to its 400 medical staff already in Haiti”. (reliefweb.int/ - HAITI - Earthquakes - January 2010) Again Hameed you provide no link or reference?! Why are you demanding standards from myself which you do not apply to yourself? Let me help you out again: “The Cuban official said the Cuban doctors, nurses and health technicians have already set up two field hospitals, where more than 800 patients have been already assisted and some of them have even undergone surgery.” (“Cuba Considers Helping Haiti A Priority” Jan 13 - cubaweb.cu) All over the news you say, do you mean like this: "Until Wednesday 20th of January the Cuban Medical Brigade had assisted 14551 patients and performed 1252 surgeries, at 21 health centers in Port au Prince, around the capital and in others departments. Besides Cuba still holding there 14 rooms of surgery with 16 surgical teams." ('Cuba stands by the Haitian people' Jan 24 - scoop.co.nz) Look Hameed I have already corrected you on the nonsense you posted without links or refs regarding the Arab/Muslim aid sent to Haiti, remember you kept shouting that the Arab/Muslim nations didn’t send any doctors/etc? I tell you what, if as you claim I post ‘unfounded facts’, why don’t you prove a such? You are a big boy now why don’t you disprove (using checkable refs) the facts I post here? I have given several refs on this post and I have about another 5-10 other links/refs to back up my facts. What links or refs have you provided over the last few months to back up your ‘claims’? Zero, zip, none. Really? Provide a ref or a link then? Hmmm, been to Iran lately Hameed?

22. #11, oh yeah, big help the Arabs are being, how much money?
David ,   Boston, USA   (01.26.10)
Almost nothing from the Arab League to help Haiti. Almost no medical help. Jordan has a lot ot be proud of, an apartheid state with laws banning Jews from land ownership and citizenship and keeps its own majority population down. Real country to be proud of, it you are proud of apartheid.
23. Matty Groves, pull out your handy dandy World Atlas.
Jake   (01.26.10)
Cuba is closer to Haiti than even Puerto Rico. It also has more inhabitants than Israel. The geographical situation, which you -ahem- "forgot" to cite in your lengthy "analysis", might explain why "Cuba had hundreds of doctors in Haiti *already* helping the people of Haiti long before Israel took a notion that helping the people of Haiti would be a good PR move to improve Israel’s international image." (It's funny, you even question Israel's motives in lending a helping hand.)

Some time back, Israel constructed a hospital just outside a Gaza checkpoint, but Hamas refused to allow any Gazan to seek treatment there. Your question should be addressed to Hamas.

i dont want to burst your bubble, but this isnt exactly the land of OZ if one wants to come and look for any wonderful happenings this country is...you'd be disappointed ..the palestinian-israeli conflict is enough of a disappointment. this country is beautiful nevertheless, and i thank God that i have the privilege of living in it.
27. There is no other nation with such arrogance
Marlene N. ,   New York City   (01.26.10)
with strength, willingness, dedication, and determination to destroy a people, which accounts for the suffering, devastation and losses inflicted upon the Palestinians. This is all a show for Israel's public relations image. If it cared at all about humanity, it would be not be creating man-made earthquakes against the Palestinians whose homes it has turned into rubble for the past few decades leaving families with little children without anything, and just about destroying their lives. There is nothing to say "Bravo" about...only shame, great shame.
28. "Narcissism" (Tarik)
Marlene N. ,   New York City   (01.26.10)
What other nation in the world congratules itself for being so humane and ethnical, and having the most moral army in the world as they continue their path of destruction and ethnic cleansing? Narcissism hardly fits Israel's image, but it has become more of a severe mental disorder.
29. Israel Haters
Tamir ,   Los Angeles   (01.26.10)
there is no point in arguing with these idiots since no matter what Israel would do they would find a way to spout their evil lies and downgrade it. The point is is that us jews should be very proud of our little country and it only serves to prove more and more that we are a peaceful country that only wants to help others and in turn live in peace. Let the haters hate, that is the only thing they are good at since thay cant seem to make a positive impact on the world.
30. To: No. 18
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.26.10)
Narcissim? Really? How do you account for all the lavish praise that has been heaped upon Israel by quite a few countries and virtually all of the international community of journalists in Haiti? Israel is a small country, yet it sent several medical teams, search and rescue squads and K-9 units. Israel sent heavy earth-moving equipment -- one of only three countries to do so. Israel's field hospital was fully operational within hours of the Israeli medical teams' arrival in Israel. The fact of the matter is that besides Israel, only the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and several members of the European Union -- most notably France, Germany and the Netherlands -- did credible work in Haiti. Of course, if one person was pulled alive from rubble, then the country who contributed the rescuer is to be congratulated on a job well done. But the fact of the matter is, the lion's share of the work following rescue of people who were in the top portion of the rubble that could be cleared by hand was done by countries that knew enough to bring heavy earth moving equipment or, to lesser effect, bulldozers and backhoes. Truth be told, the teams from nearly one-half of the countries that provided rescuers went home by January 19. Israel did a brilliant and thoroughly professional job in Haiti. For you to suggest otherwise is both churlish and infantile. All that remains is for you to stamp your foot and stomp off. Not a half-bad idea, actually, and certainly in keeping with the aggrieved tone of your post.
