1. PERVERTED LOGIC BY SYRIA !!! - ???.
Arn. ,   SWEDEN.   (01.29.10)
George Mitchell, US President Barack Obama's Middle East envoy, discussed reviving peace talks between Israel and Syria last week with Assad, who said Israel had to "declare frankly" it wants peace. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN ???. HAS NOT ISRAEL HOLD ITS PEACE ??? A FULL ACCEPTANACE OF ALL SYRIAN DEMANDS ???. HIT SYRIA HARD ON ITS SCULL !!!. Arn.

3. Turkey offiially in bed with Muslim world. However a ruse
Jae ,   Lynn US   (01.29.10)
to show they are still western "friendly" is to "reach out" to Israel & the west every now and then. meanwhile the bear hugs between Turkish government and Syria, Iran, go on and on. Dont be fooled world, Erdogan is leading Turkey's future to be bound up with that of Iran and Syria. His Muslim beliefs are stronger than his diplomacy, and lack of it.
4. Assad: We "declare frankly" we want peace, it's up to you
Yohanan ,   Ariel Israel   (01.29.10)
if you want peace. Peace for peace. You lost your war, account to yourself your mistake of trying genocide on Jewish state, then losing. Till then "frank peace" is entirely in your lap.
5. Democratic Turkey ,yesterday
Rizgar ,   S. Kurdsitan   (01.30.10)
A Turkish high criminal court has sentenced an adolescent Kurdish girl to nearly eight years in prison on charges of hurling stones at police officers and chanting illegal slogans during a protest in the southeastern city of Batman. Police claimed that the 15-year-old Kurdish teenager, Berivan attended an illegal march in October and concealed her face behind a scarf. Berivan rejected the accusation saying that she was detained while going to visit her aunt, Hurriyet newspaper reported on Wednesday. “I did not hurl stones at police officers. I do not have any relation with the march. I noticed a crowd and walked towards it to see what it was. Police surrounded the crowd before I reached them. A policeman detained me because he thought I was a protester but I was not. I was just going to visit my aunt living in the central part of the city,” Berivan said. The court had originally sentenced her to a total of 13 years in prison - seven years on charges of committing a crime on behalf of an outlawed organization, five years on charges of attending an illegal demonstration, and one year on charges of propaganda for the group. However, her sentence was commuted to seven years and nine months because she is an adolescent. After the judge announced the sentence, the girl's mother burst into tears and shouted, “Did she murder? The murderers are not sentenced to such a long prison term.”
6. More muslim bullcrap.
Brad ,   USA   (01.30.10)
If Syria wants peace, then here is the plan. It will benefit both Syria, and Israel. 1) Syria doesn't attack Israel (including proxy groups like hezbollah), and Israel won't attack Syria. 2) Syria doesn't lie about Israel, and Israel won't tell the truth about Syria. That's it.. Anything else is bullcrap.
7. Okay
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.30.10)
I think a goodwill gesture is in order. Syria should repatriate the remains of Eli Cohen, z.l., and hand over Georg Fischer -- also known as Alois Brunner, Eichmann's (may his name be cursed throughout eternity) principal deputy and most wanted Nazi in the world. That would be a very good place for Syria to start. But Syria can forget about getting the Golan back. Syria should ask its brand-new best friend Turkey to stop damming fresh water resources that Syria so desperately needs. Good friends don't let one another die of thirst, now, do they? Eli Cohen, z.l. George Fischer (Alois Brunner) Then we talk.
8. :: How do you say "NOOOOOOOOOOO" in Turkish?

9. Golan returned to owners or no peace ever.

10. Turkey- Syria
Nick ,   USA   (01.30.10)
As Obama told Israel regarding understandingreached with Bush & Israel: If there is nothing in writing signed then ther is no agreement. Assad shuld have reached agreement with Olmert [whatever those secret talks did], but now it remains all open as no prior agreements. No need for Turkey to mediate now- direct tlks best- OR have France as co-mediator

SYRIA THE SURROGATE - Obama aide says Iran may lash out at Israel Published: 01.29.10, 23:53 / Israel News US President Barack Obama's national security adviser is citing a heightened risk that Iran will respond to growing pressure over its nuclear program by stoking violence against Israel. The adviser, retired Marine Gen. James Jones, said history shows that when regimes are feeling pressure they can lash out through surrogates. (AP) Arn.
13. Peace can be brokered only if the Golan remains Israeli!
Ron B. ,   Lod   (01.30.10)
If Syria wants peace with Israel, it should offer in exchange the Golan. There is no doubt that for Syria the benefit of peace will be tremendous. The Golan represent for Israel more security than “peace” with Syria. As “peace” with Syria will not happen, there is no reason for Israel to be generous with the Mafia regime of Assad. The Assad family has established a hereditary dynasty shored up by repression within, and confrontation and terror abroad. The rule of the Assads is not aimed at improving the lot of their people or forwarding a particular ideology. They changed ideology from secular Arabism to a seemingly impossible confection of pan-Arabism and Islamist extremism. It is pointless to “engage” Syria in dialogue except insofar as it is possible to confront them with their violations and insist that they mend their ways. 14. Turkey is wasting its time...
Marco ,   Spain   (01.30.10)
As the great President Nasser of Egypt once said "What was taken by force can only be returned by force". Hezbollah did just that when they liberated most of Southern Lebanon in2000 by force. Israel had to withdraw its forces under the cover of darkness to avoid the lethal beatings it was taken on a daily basis by Hezbollah. Way to go Hezbollah!
15. concerned
colin   (01.30.10)
Turkey was concerned with the policy of gaza.!!!Was Turkey also concerned about the kassams, rockets and the killing of Israeli citizens?? Turkey can go to hell.Israel does not need any onesided diplomat.Maybe the cowardly groveling wimp called barak will listen to the bullshit The people of Israel are wiser.

turkey's erdogan is in bed with assad, fellow sunnis in regaining ancient israel golan won fairly as repayment of turkey stealing hatay province from syria. erdogan has no role in israel and only came topass because of the the shmuck that we had as PM-olmert, a dumbell afraid of one drop of blood with crook written all over his face. he tried lto save himself as an etrog by firesale of concessions. Hshem will yet punish him. Raycep can take ermine-fire breathing arafat arabic and go to pardise to their 70 virgins. Arabs stole israeli land and that story should be told on arab news channel 24/7.
20. #5 we know risgar we know
sam ,   israel   (01.30.10)
turkey is a partner of the israeli government not the israeli people. those are much more on your side, eventhough we know very little about kurds. and in that connection i want to ask you about something that i heard. have kurds been massicaring assyrians?
21. We have a very peaceful border already
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.30.10)
There is nothing to be gained by talking with slime. The Golan was returned to it's rightful owners in 1967. Now if Syria wants to end it war against us, they can do so. Won't hold my breath.
22. #14 to Marco

24. 14 Got that right! Like the Scorpion and the Crocodile
lydia ,   Bribane   (02.04.10)
Israel can be relied upon to slaughter its benefactor. Scuttling the peace deal that Turkey was negotiating and launching "Operation Cast Lead" is only one such instance of Israels famed treachery."Fool me once ..." says the Muslims.
25. #14 and Spain
James ,   Herzeliya   (02.04.10)
The first thing you have to do marco is to return the property as well as our family's wealth that was stolen from us in 1492. I want it back with interest+damages. I want an apology from the king as well as your church in writing on the front page of El Pais. By the way.. you should return Andalusia back to the moslems.
