1. with friends like Turkey who needs enemies?
zionist forever   (01.31.10)
They have signed all sorts of military cooperation and intelligence sharing deals with Iran. They have even committed themselves to providing Iran with air force support if Israel bombed its nuclear sites. The refused to hold wargames with Israel but for the first time ever herld them with Syria. In talks with Syria Turkey has never acted like the independent mediator they promised to be they were just telling Olmert he must accept all Assads demands and thats what they want to do again. Use Turkey for whatever we can get out of them and leave the relationship at that don't look at them as a friend. As soon as yo start looking to them as an ally whose advice you take it will be used against Israel when the time suits Turkey. Remeber when it comes to Israel muslims stick together.
2. Things must not be going well in Turkey...
Micha ,   World   (01.31.10)
All you ever hear from there is "Israel is doing this wrong and that wrong..." Perhaps, it's time to concentrate on one's own country. Hey that'd be good for a change. (psst, Arab world, time to fix your own house....)
3. Well said Erdogan.....
Marco ,   Spain   (01.31.10)
Thanx Turkey for transcending politics and speaking your conscience....
4. Not really
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.31.10)
With a "friend" like Turkey, Israel may never need an enemy. Turkey cannot both work towards closer relations with Iran and Syria (both state sponsors of terror) and simultaneously act in supposed good faith brokering an arrangement between Syria and Israel. In other words -- the faster Israel distances itself from Turkey, the better.
5. what a scumbag!

colin   (01.31.10)
Now where is the groveling cowardly wimp calling himself barak. His friend agains degrade the IDF and Israel. Lieberman and Ayolon must again call the Turkish diplomat ,seat him lower than before,do not have the turkish flag and tell him that when this anti-Israeli anti semite from his country apologises Israel will talk again.
9. during Gaza offensive in January 2009
Rudi ,   Belgium   (01.31.10)
Turkey, Iran bombard Kurdish rebels in Iraq: PKK Blacklisted as a terror group by the European Union and the United States, the PKK took up arms for self-rule in Turkey's Kurdish-majority southeast in 1984, triggering a conflict that has claimed some 44,000 lives. 44,000 lives, but as no Israelis involved, who cares ? Not the lefties of course.
10. Viva Sultan Erdogan
Ahmet ,   Turkey   (01.31.10)
11. excellent! keep isolating yourself Israel!
Joe ,   Canada   (01.31.10)
Isolate yourself further from the world! Exit and leave israel now, before its too late and the war starts in the next 2-6 months! Israel will be attacked on 4 fronts! The U.S. empire and econo. is crumbling, nobody will help Israel out!
12. Turkey will back Hezbollah in the next war
Steve From Raleigh   (01.31.10)
In fact it should not shock Israelis if if Turkey uses their own troops, planes, missiles and ships to attack Israel soon. This is why Israel must cancel whatever is left of their UAV deal with Turkey and immediately work to have a closer relation with NATO. It's unlikely that NATO would tolerate Turkey, a NATO member, attacking Israel in that context. Turkey is gone. There's no point in wishing it wasn't so. Turkey is now part of the Greater Iranian Confederacy.
13. Instead of focusing on the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), the
Oren ,   Ashqelon, Israel   (01.31.10)
Turk should focus on his soldiers mass murdering Kurds in eastern Turkey and northern Iraq. But of course there is no discussion about it in Turkey. In fact, it would be considered illegal to mention Turkish behaviour during present military actions, let alone during the 1915 genocide against the Armenian people.
14. Maybe it's Turkey who should worry
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (01.31.10)
about losing a friend like Israel
15. Doesn't the man have any other hobbies?

16. Human rights? Like annihilating the Armenians?
Ben Yisrael ,   Tel aviv   (01.31.10)
17. A SELFDECEIVED HYPOCRIT !!!.
Arn. ,   SWEDEN.   (01.31.10)
Turkish PM criticizes Israel's conduct in Gaza yet again, saying 'we cannot close our eyes when innocent civilians are ruthlessly killed, struck by phosphorus bombs, infrastructure is demolished in bombing and people are forced to live in an open-air prison' COULD THIS SPEACH IN PRINCIPLE NOT MEAN THE ARMENIANS AND KURDS ???. "We have done our best for Israel-Syria relations. But now we see Benjamin Netanyahu saying ‘I do not trust Erdogan, but I trust (French President Nicolas) Sarkozy’. Do you have to give a name? This is diplomatic inexperience, too. Because when you say this… How can I trust you if you say you don’t trust me? SELFDECEIVED HYPOCRITS CAN NEVER BE TRUSTED. Erdogan told Euronews, "I am telling the truth…And I will keep telling the truth. Turkey has an age-old history as a state. When you talk to such a state you must be careful. SURE THING - YOUR CRUELTY,EVILNESS AND UNRIGHTOUSNESS IS WELL KNOWN. we can not see this as compatible with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, simply human rights, and we can not close our eyes to all this happening," he said. DO YOU MEAN THE ARMENIANS AND KURDS ???. GO TO HELL TURKEY !!!. Arn.
18. rockets
alexi   (01.31.10)
erdogan omits 10000 rockets shot at israel from gaza. His pro arab feelings blinds him to reality. When turks kill kurds for less provocation, it is okay but israel should not respond to erdogan's tirades. No, barak and beneliezer and peres are wimps politically. ayalon was wrong but not lieberman. if turkey cancels relations it will be as bad for turkey as israel but israel does not have to take it like a shtetl jew wchich barak and peres are-weak olmerts, especially barak who is supposed to be a military genius. he acts like a wimp.Yes, do not insult the ambassador but you respond directly- 1) erdogan-you are a liar, gaza provoked the cast lead and hamas fires from civilian areas 2) You will lose from cancelling relations 3) israel has to be spoken to with respect 4) Consistently you attack israel with vile comments and heat up your moslem population 5) israels, cancel any ideas about holidays in Turkey 6) Erdogan, you are warned about furthur anitisrael comments or diplomatic response will be given. That's what you do because kissing up to turkey leads to more erdogan rants. It might be time now to kick barak out and replace himwith yaalon. I am sick of his wimp style.
19. Open air prison
Len ,   USA   (01.31.10)
The entire Middle East with exception of Israel is an open air prison. No respect for minorities, religious freedom, women's rights, gay rights, differences or dissent. These places are despicable places of forced conformity. Culturally they are backward. They love their honor killings. They are jealous at the success of the Jews who have no oil, but are an example to the nations. They will remain in squalor until they reject the propaganda from their leaders. These should look in the mirror and ask why are we the most backward people on the planet. Do not blame others for your situatiion. You need to reject everything you were taught, say yes to no and no to yes, and you will save your children form your predicament. Give up your hate and start respecting the success of others. You are an embarrassment to the human race. Every technological advancement you enjoy was given to you from others. You are takers and not givers. We pray for you that your children one day will enlightened. The Jews left Gaza, but you threw rockets. You are dumb asses and everyone with common sense know this. G-d bless you that one day you will be awakened and overthrow your mullahs and leaders.
20. a pot calling the kettle black
observer   (01.31.10)
after the Turks genocidal record again he Kurds and other minorities, they have a bit of a cheek to say the least. Rather keep quiet in such circumstances.
21. How did Turkey kill thousands of Amenians????
Lioness ,   Israel   (01.31.10)
22. Losing a "friend"?
Steven ,   London   (01.31.10)
They are not acting like friends, that is for sure.
23. Barak and Sancho
Ricardo Macher ,   KarneiShomron Israel   (01.31.10)
The problem is not Erdogan, even a small child understands that he is not a friend of Israel and probably more than that. The problem is people like Barak and his friend Sancho who just don't want to see. They will declare now that we will keep doing business and SanchoFuad will travel to Turkey to eat lokum. Sad, it's really sad that people like this represent our country!
24. Turks should criticize Erdogan openly.
Nםרש Tקך Aהןה   (01.31.10)
Don`t worry Turkey. Erdogan comes Erdogan goes, Turkey stays. Israel will wait for brighter days with Turkey.
25. turkey
Yaniv ,   uk   (01.31.10)
Its about time Israel cut its ties with turkey, who needs so called allys like them. Turkey has one of the worst breaches in human rights history so i think they need to sort out themselves first, instead for pointing there fingers at others. Mr Erdogen talks about the inexperience of israeli diplomacy but has he forgotten how rudely he spoke to Shimon peres at the Davos meeting 2009!!! what a hypocrite..
26. Turkey's hands are stained with Armenian blood
Torontonian   (01.31.10)
I wonder if Erdogan sees Turkey's slaughter of 1.5 million Armenians as "compatible with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights". I wonder if Erdogan ever considers his nation's refusal to acknowledge the Armenian genocide when he says things like, "we can not close our eyes to all this happening". True, he can't close his eyes to ALL that happens... only the parts he'd rather not see.
27. "Innocent civilians?"
Steve   (01.31.10)
Gaza's citizens brought the Hamas regime to power in Gaza. The Hamas government (regime) was elected in free, open and fair elections according to former US president, George W. Bush and Secretary Rice. Hamas supports Israel's annihilation. Hamas supporters are not uninformed. Hamas charter states: "In The Name Of The Most Merciful Allah....Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it" (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory)." During the second world war, USAF and RAF bombers fire-bombed (terror-bombed) German cities, reducing them to rubble; incinerating their inhabitants. Some 800,000 "enemy civilians" were targeted in an all-out effort to destroy German morale, so as to end the war more quickly. FDR and Churchill waged total war, unconditional surrender. I cannot speak for England. Americans are proud of their part in the second world war. Americans, in general, have no regrets. Should a government or regime / nation like Hamas / Gaza -- Iran for example -- fire missiles into or detonate bombs in US cities, we would expect a similar response from the Americans. Americans would consider such a nation / regime, not innocent civilians, but enemy civilians just as Americans considered Germans and Japanese enemy civilians during the second world war. When Hezbollah launched rockets into northern Israel during the second Lebanon war, the Olmert government should have made clear that Lebanon itself at war with Israel. Like Netanyahu wrote in his book, 'Fighting Terrorism': "The first and most crucial thing to understand is this: There is no international terrorism without the support of sovereign states (i.e., regimes). International terrorism simply cannot be sustained for long without the regimes that aid and abet it. Terrorists are not suspended in midair. They train, arm, and indoctrinate their killers from within safe havens on territory provided by terrorist states. Often these regimes provide the terrorists with intelligence, money, and operational assistance, dispatching them to serve as deadly proxies to wage a hidden war against more powerful enemies...."
28. Reagarding "diplomatic inexperience"
Maurice ,   Montreal   (01.31.10)
A good case of the pot calling the kettle black! If there is someone without diplomatic inexperience it is Erdogan himself. Just remember his shameful outbursts in Davos, and all the other tactless statements against Israel. He's got bloody nerve to call Bibi inexperienced. What an idiot!
29. Time for Israel to start aiding the PKK, no more turkish
