and not the other way around. As long as there are questions unresolved about the IDF's handling of Cast Lead there must be a public inquiry - so that the IDF is accountable to us and to itself.

If Barka makes "peace" by surrendering the Golan heights, then ther will not be an Israel after the war- since they will not be able to take back the Heights in such a war, and will lose more territory to Hizbolla and Syria.

we will never return the Golan. We fought too hard to grasp it from Syria. It will never be used by Syria as a launching pad again. Incidentally, if you haven't been to the Golan, it will open your eyes even wider as to its strategic importance. If you have been there, well then it must have become utterly obvious to you, as it did to me, why it's necessary to keep the Golan secure. In actuality, it has a certain rugged beauty and a good deal of agriculture and farming and is underpopulated, a place for a young Israeli family to make a home.

enough already with poltical statements. Just do defense and forget about political stuff. If war with syria will be, so be it. You don't make peace out of fear. That's what you had with olmert who was afraid of one drop of blood so he would not commit forces, did not think to adjust strategy as he was paralysed. Barak acts like olmert. Also, what is this with moral army. If the IDF behaves ok, fine. Who runs down the street saying we have a moral army. Judaism should strike light unto nations and moral army from the books even if god said it. One shouldn't boast about it. Even ashkenazi said it. Its absurd to say it.

Barak seems to think that a peace agreement with Syria will prevent another war. This is absolute nonsense. Syria will start a war based on it's determination as to whether they will gain anything. Giving up the Golan makes it more likely that they will think they canm win a future war. A peace traety has never stopped future wars and with Syria it is meaningless and dangerous if the price is the Golan and Syria on the shores of the Kineret.
