6. Hamas is the controlling authority in Gaza and is ...
Ron B. ,   Lod   (02.02.10)
Hamas is the controlling authority in Gaza and is responsible for what happens. First, Hamas should be crushed to the ground : the leaders as well as the common murderers should be eliminated. Not breaking the resistance force of Hamas today means that hundreds of thousands of Israelis will be brought within range of Hamas rockets later. A ceasefire agreement with Hamas means that we will soon receive a stronger, more protected, better-armed and better-trained Hamas. Diplomatic and locale arrangements with Egypt and/or the international community will come next, after the total political presence in Gaza of the Hamas doesn’t exist any more. 7. again we reaction (weak) instead of action
Jhan   (02.02.10)
Israel has agreed to be on the defensive, weak leaders who are deliberate two-time war losers, a bibi-booboo who has accomplished zilch, terrorists marching in the streets in Lod, the army destroying its own officers, in short - a disaster.
8. Muslim-Arab organized terror against the Jews...
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (02.02.10)
...of Eretz Israel (Land of Israel / Palestine) goes back to the early 1920s; long before the Gaza conflict, "settlements", "occupation", etc; long before the June 1967 Six-Day War and Israel's independence of 1948. The goal has always been to ensure that no independent non-Muslim and non-Arab independent state is set up in Eretz Israel, the national homeland of the Jewish people. This latest devise of acts of terror is simply the latest attempt to bring about the demise of Israel and the wiping off the face of earth any trace of Jewish existence in the Land, be the means full-scale war - attempted in 1948, 1967 and 1973 - or through the means of terror and "diplomatic" stages.
9. Floating explosions...
James ,   Beer Sheva Israel   (02.02.10)
It was sad to read this report about floating explosions hitting the Israeli beaches. That means some more IDF officers will be "reprimanded", another few million dollars will be paid to the "U.N.", the E.U. will condemn Israel again and threaten more embargoes against Israel. For the love of country, I can't understand why we don't just kick their asses once and for all. WHY? WHY? WHY?
10. #7 almost all-time war losers
observer   (02.02.10)
Arabs started only one war, in 1973, and were victorious then. The Jews won only one war, in 1967, because they perfidiously attacked without declaring the war.
11. #10 correction
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (02.02.10)
In 1948, irregular Arab forces and the Arab countries initiated their war of extermination against the Jewish civilian populace as soon as the British left Israel. In 1956 and 1967, the Arabs blocked international waterways to Israeli shipping. As you very well know, according to international law blocking international waterways is considered the same as a declaration of war and armed attack. In 1982, Arab forces attacked Israel from Lebanon under supervision of Syrian forces that illegally occupied Lebanon at the time. As for 1973, would you consider the Egyptian/Syrian attack on Israel honorable and heroic, or perfidious?
12. the navy must be given more than left overs in the budget
zionist forever   (02.02.10)
Right now the army and especially air force between them get 99% of the annual military budget. The navy either makes do or scrounges around like trying to get good deals like it did on the Dolphin subs which the German government agreed to pay the bulk of the cost for and even gave 2 free. Now they are trying to get 2 old German corvettes in the Gulf for cheap because even US military aid was considered not enough to buy the new US littoral combat ship they were originally interested in. They need to be given their fair share of the military budget not just the left overs after everybody else has had their piece of the pie. They are not as glamourous as the pilots in the F16s or the tough soldiers in their Merkavas but they play an important role and there is a threat from both conventional warfare and terror from the sea so they should be given money to do their job.
13. #11 Tiran 67, Sinai 73; opposite to your inverted correction
observer   (02.02.10)
Egypt, which had a mutual defense pact with Syria, asked the United Nations to remove the Emergency Force from the border with Israel. U Thant, the Secretary General, had to comply with the request because the force was stationed on Egyptian sovereign territory. But he also decided, on his own hook, to remove the Emergency Force from Sharm-el-Sheikh, which the Egyptians did not request. Once the fig leaf of the United Nations Emergency Force was removed from Sharm-el-Sheikh, Nasser had to close the Strait of Tiran to Israeli shipping for domestic political reasons. Imagine what would happen today if an Iranian vessel sailed down the Saint Lawrence seaway into the Great Lakes and the United States government did nothing to stop and search it. After Israel's occupation of Sinai in 67, it started daily artillery shelling of the three large cities of the Suez Canal region which urged the displacement of 1.5 million civilians from the region. The Israeli air strike frequently into the depth of Egypt got everywhere for six years. So, how to declare war for true self-defense and restoring legitimate sovereignty, if the state of war had never been stopped throughout the six years? Sinai is three times the size of Israel
