31. obama just wants what's good for obama...
HarryO ,   Nashua NH USA   (02.02.10)
he doesn't care who or what he offends. Besides, the Chinese have a copy of his birth certificate and a copy of his college transcripts, they can make him snap to in a heartbeat.
32. Oh No!
James ,   Davis, CA   (02.02.10)
How terrible that China will stop cooperating on political issues...wait, when did they ever cooperate? Never, that's when. The government of China are habitual contrarians regarding anything desired by the West, especially if it might in some small way conflict with their own economic and political goals. The Chinese people are pretty cool, generally speaking, but their government is living by the rules of Sun Tzu...and morality does not figure in.
33. What shameless liars the Chinese are!
Keir ,   Peking, CHINA   (02.03.10)
I live in China. My students struggle to complete the IB programme because EVERYTHING is blocked in this fascist country that aims to keep its people stupid so a corrupt elite can continue to rule. How can people quote Chinese representatives who look people in the eye and say "the Chinese internet was open"?! This is a country that allows fake google and youtube sites to operate and discriminates against foreign companies. My own blog I use for my students is blocked simply because it's hosted on Blogger- www.tracesofevil.blogspot.com
34. Obama, China
William ,   El Paso, TX, USA   (02.03.10)
Obama seems always to make a good first impression. It is when you realize he is nothing but an empty-suit, socialist dog. It is then when you really understand he is of sub-normal intelligence, but with a insanely self-centered drive. He completely fooled the American people, who are beginning to wake up and realize they were duped.

Glen ,   El Paso USA   (02.03.10)
China is not a superpower. Only in your dreams.
36. China, Tiawan and US arms sales.
John S. ,   Toronto   (02.03.10)
I've followed Zheng's career for quite some time, if you followed her as long as I have you wouldn't take one word from her mouth seriously. The US has been selling arms to Taiwan since and probably before the 1949. It's a ridiculous position to state that this arms sale is anything but new. She would have more leverage if she was honest and said, "Look, China has tolerated arms sales in the past but things are changing in China both internally and externally, the PRC can no longer accept the sales of arms to a province which may threaten the stability of the region." Instead she uses common communist propaganda BS that Taiwan is part of China and US is interfering in internal affairs. Does China think the rest of the world is this stupid? I remember when Powell announced that the US couldn't support Taiwan independence but would continue arms sales... China was elated!
37. Zhang Xiao'an the LIAR
bropous ,   Anytown, USA   (02.03.10)
Yes, Communist Thug mouthpiece Zhang Xiao'an is a LIAR and a CRIMINAL against humanity. He is a mouthpiece for the greatest murdering regime ever to curse the species Homo sapiens sapiens, the Chinese Communist Party, a political organization with the blood of over ONE HUNDRED TWENTY MILLION HUMAN SOULS ON ITS HANDS. And this bloodthirsty murdering scumbag has the unmitigated gall to lecture the one nation that has laid down more of its own citizens' lives in the pursuit of the freedom of the citizens of other nations than any other nation in human history? Go back to your kennel, Zhang Xiao'an, you communist DOG. THIS American citizen calls you out for what you are: A lying apologist for the most bloodstained regime ever to stain this planet.
38. Hey Bill van
bropous ,   Anytown, USA   (02.03.10)
"I wonder if the yet to be (publicly) released news about the US salting the Chinese gold with tungsten has anything to do with the deterioration in the relationship between the countries?" If this is true, Bill van, I will personally kiss the GENIUS who executed this strategy! SCREW the Communist Chinese! Long live the Republic of China on Taiwan!
39. China knows Obama is weak
Robert ,   Houston, USA   (02.03.10)
China is always posturing....even worse than the other countries. I think they sense Obama is weak (basically a Peace-nik) and they can hold this Taiwan thing over his head to get their way on other things. On the weapons to Taiwan, if Taiwan chooses to use them in a conflict with China, that is not the fault of the US. Just like it won't be China's fault if Iran uses Chinese technology in a conflict with the US. I love the fact we sold the weapons to Taiwan. That is one thing Obama got right ... even though I think it was in the works long before he was president.
40. ok
C ,   king   (02.03.10)
Can't say I am sorry to here that China might stop sending parts or toys are way. Might mean that the US make the parts and toys we enjoy once again.
41. Schikelgruber and China
Zvi Hazakiyahu ,   Shaitan Cruz, USA   (02.03.10)
USA sells Free China (Taiwan) weapons. Communist China halts military cooperation and helps Iran. USA raises tariffs on Chinese goods. Communist China stops buying debt. USA prints more money. Communist China's investments becomes worthless. Adolph Schikelgruber , Arizona, USA (02.02.10) but, why stop there... The price for a loaf of bread in Schikelgruber's town grows overnight to $25,000, just above Schikelgruber's yearly income from selling petty paintings of Arizona desert A gallon of gas in Arizona goes to $300,000 Store shelves become empty overnight, because all the existing goods (all made in China) are gone. Robert Mugabe offers the United States to switch to Zimbabwean dollar: it depresates at a lesser rate than US we can continue ad infinim...
42. underminers
Matt ,   NYC   (02.03.10)
So the so-called conservative sock puppets on this thread are only for supporting strong foreign defense when a Republican is talking tough? I would never suspect these folks of actually being traitors who only respect the primacy of markets and cheap labor. No, never, they're patriots.
43. Malarkey!
steven C. Jackson ,   newark Ca   (02.03.10)
China from day one has ONLY acted in the Wests interests when they had no orther recourse. Either because their was no way to minimize our interests importance or because it was what they already found needed doing to meet their own self interests! They talk out of both sides of their mouths on this subject. They do not fool ME!
44. Comm. China needs to be open
Scott ,   USA   (02.03.10)
The USA is and has always been about FREEDOM. That is what we are and how we came to be. Surely the Chinese know this. Join the rest of the world and stopp being so repressive. The Dali Lama is harmless and a nice person, also wanting freedom. Clean up or the US public will stop buying chinese products!
45. Can't Trust Chinese or American Communists
SharpShtik ,   USA   (02.03.10)
America can't trust America's enemies within and without, including communists, socialists (including progressive/fascist Third Way brand socialists) and Muslim fanatics. Enemies include Obama, the bulk of his admin, Democrat representatives and Senators and, by your own ridiculous words, you Bill van from Sonoma.
46. "Chinese Internet is Open"
kirk ,   usa   (02.03.10)
Another heaping spoon-fed lie predictably served up by the oppressive Chinese regime. Their internet is so open that our friends in Shanghai haven't been able to communicate using facebook since last summer... It may be an easy sell to the 1.3 billion Chinese who don’t know better, it certainly doesn’t fly with the West…
47. Ignorance
kirk ,   usa   (02.03.10)
Why is it that the Chinese talk about angering their government when the population has been beaten into submission for decades on end?! Why isn't your anger directed toward your own tyrannical government, which is responsible for the deaths of millions of your country men? Pathetic.
48. Great Idea
Michael ,   St Petersburg, FL   (02.03.10)
I think that is a Great Idea and I am sure China would think otherwise.
49. China Bashing
Brod ,   USA   (02.03.10)
Those who bash China do not really know what they are talking. Far from being Communist, China has become a Capitalist state-market driven economy. It has overtaken Germany as the the third largest economy in the world. And it is poised to overtake Japan as the second largest economy. There is no point reverting to the past in talking about China. The old generation had passed away. The new generation of Chinese is highly educated and competitive. They may not have Western style democracy. But they thrive on Meritrocacy. This should be respected.
50. Paper Tiger
Kerebos ,   Wilm, DE   (02.03.10)
There are many things to admire about China and her resurgence--their authoritarianism, human rights violations and utter contempt for the environment aren't any of them. China is gravely mistaken to confuse itself with a superpower, at this point. No nation with 70,000 mini "revolutions" a year, lack of natural resources, a dearth of food and water and inadequate blue water navy has a very bright future. China's lifespan has even dropped 10 years in the last quarter century. China does have "one up" on the US, due to owning it's debt, but that can be a liability, too.
51. doctor.j@mindspring.com
Jeffrey Burch ,   Marietta, GA, USA   (02.03.10)
It's Jintao, not Jinato. And we've been selling arms to Taiwan for decades.
