4. Egyptian unions - Nasser's leftovers -yeak !
Jojo ,   PRTWASHNY   (02.03.10)
Democracy in full bloom, a la Egyptian style; with a to the point comment by Gamal Fahml " Not to punish ? , not to seek vengeance ? ". Hypocrisy at his best, from Egypt 'free press' parasites. Instead of writing garbage, maybe the so-called learned " journalists should investigate and decipher the meaning of " Peace Treaty ' from a reputable dictionary ? Webster or Larousse?
5. Why is the magazine called "October"?
(02.03.10)
Because it is named after the Yom Kippur War (October War in arabic).

9. Israelis say 30,000, Egyptians say 17,000
observer   (02.03.10)
A CAIRO court ruled May 19, 2009 that the citizenship of Egyptian men married to Israeli women must be revoked, saying that such a marriage jeopardises Egypt's national security. "The Interior Ministry is committed to revoking the nationality of any Egyptian man married to an Israeli,”legal sources said yesterday. They added that this type of marriage could jeopardise national security."The children born to Israeli women obtain Israeli nationality and serve the Israeli military. However, those children, whose father is Egyptian, are Egyptians at the same time,"the sources added.Nabih el-Wahsh,an Egyptian lawyer, had filed the lawsuit against the Interior Ministry and the Foreign Ministry calling on them to strip Egyptians who marry Israelis of their nationality."This is a historic ruling.I hope it can be put into effect soon,"el-Wahsh said."This marriage violates the Egyptian Constitution and the Islamic Sharia (Law). Moreover,it could lead to a catastrophe,"el-Wahsh added. He urged the Interior Ministry to enforce the ruling to prevent young Egyptians from "committing such a crime".A fatwa by former grand mufti of Egypt Nassr Farid Wassel forbade Muslims from marrying an Israeli national,"whether an Arab Muslim or Christian".Incumbent Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar Mohamed Sayed Tantawi had declared that, while such a marriage in itself is not haram (religiously forbidden),"in case of [the woman belonging to ]an enemy state, the State [of Egypt] has the right to ban marriage [or] revoke nationality".
10. to #9 y Egypt is planning the next war?
ghostq   (02.03.10)
in that case Israel can take back Sinai since the Egyptians have no intention to fill their end of the bargin. :)
11. Arab countries
Marcelo ,   Frankfurt   (02.03.10)
it is not only freedom of expresion but it shows what is going to happen aftre mubarak's death...peace in peapers does not mean peace with the folk. In order to promote peace with the folk the arab govenment should enforce it, but it seems it does not care, beacuse arabs in general do not believe in peace but in "no war"...at least for a while....
12. Is it 'misery in opulance or opulance in misery
Jojo ,   PRTWASHNY   (02.03.10)
Misery, misery, and more misery has been the lot of Egyptians even before Farouk, Nasser, Saadat, Mubarak. That fish stinks from the head down is not an assumption, but an accepted and resigned fact of life among the ' masses '

15. A new Verdi should write a new Aida part 2
Jojo ,   PRTWASHNY   (02.03.10)
I am assuming that the 'observer' # 9writings are accurate. --- Without reservation, I can label this ' piece of Sh...t, the egyptian peace treaty. Where does it belong ? in the toilet of course.. This pompous, stupid , idiot, arrogant GRAND SHEIK sayed tantawi has " officially " declared (finally) that Israel is an enemy State (as if we didn't know). We also know that Mubarak IS the State. Now, what do you think that a miserable, starving country does with the $$ billions it gets every year from the US ? Feed? , build?, prosper? " Penses tu ": IT buys tanks, jets, missiles in order to crush the Jewish State -- and the hell with the wretched masses. We are grateful to America for this unselfish generosity displayed towards a " neighbor " in dire need. Now we should ask this "generous" US of A to send us more arms in order to defend ourselves against allah's devotees, with the expectations that our arms will defeat THEIRS.....! UNBELIEVABLE.
16. To # 3... I Tell You Its Meaning
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem - ISRAEL   (02.03.10)
Almost everybody knows what the current peace between Israel and Egypt means . I hereby divulge its true meaning : Egypt decided to make peace with Israel simply because Egypt is already fed up with war and simply can not bear the burden of more wars with Israel , & , equally , because Egypt has finally concluded , albeit belatedly , that the Arabs can not exterminate Israel ! Besides , Egypt had to gain a lot from peace with Israel because Egypt was able to get back its Sinai peninsula only through direct negotiations and by making formal peace with Israel simply because Egypt could not get back its Sinai by war or any military means ... ! You may call the 30+ year-old Camp David Peace Treaty a temporary , rather than permanent , ceasfire and an ephemeral respite if you view it from a historical perspective although the peace has survived more than three decades already . But ink on paper could be discarded or breached at any moment when circumstances tell that the peace accord is no longer of use to either side ... ! Yes Egyptians these days do not suffer casualties from war with Israel because there is no more war , but the peace treaty does not and can not force Egyptians to be in love with Israel or Israelis or even Jews. I can safely assume Israel already knows that unequviocally . No wonder Israel's late premier Menachem Begin , reportedly , asked Egypt's Sadat : " In Egypt there is no democratic system of government . What could happen to this peace treaty if a coup d'etat took place in Egypt sometime in the future ? " ... !

22. four Jewish surviovors of the Lavon affair, 1954
observer   (02.03.10)
After fourteen years in Egyptian jails, the four reached Israel in the prisoner exchange following the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. Their presence in the country was an official secret until 1971, when Prime Minister Golda Meir announced her intention to attend Marcelle Ninio's wedding. Not until March 1975, when the four told their story publicly for the first time on national television, did an Israeli government acknowledge that they had been trained and directed by the Israeli army. Aviezer Golan compiled an authorized collective memoir, Operation Susannah (the code name for the bombing campaign), and explained that their actions did not constitute treason against Egypt because: The foursome -- like all the other heroes of 'the mishap' -- were born and brought up in Egypt, but they never regarded themselves -- nor were they ever regarded by others -- as Egyptians. . . .They were typical members of Egypt's Jewish community. . . .It was a community with shallow roots. The Jews reached Egypt during the second half of the nineteenth century or the beginning of the twentieth. . . .[T]hey could not read or write Arabic, and spoke no more of the language than was necessary for the simplest daily needs. . . .All of Egypt's Jews could have been considered Zionists -- or, to be more precise, 'lovers of Zion.' Golan, in the name of the four, emphasized the lack of Jewish affinity to Egypt. In contrast, at the press conference convened to announce the arrest of the saboteurs, Egyptian Minister of Interior Zakariyya Muhyi al-Din stressed that the majority of Egyptian Jews were loyal citizens like all other Egyptians. He claimed that some Jews approached by Israeli agents had refused to act against their homeland and that those who did succumbed to trickery or coercion. http://www.stanford.edu/group/SHR/5-1/text/beinin.html
