5. @ Salma
AJ - Raalte   (02.03.10)
What's wrong with Jews first and foremost helping other Jews? At least, they're helping people. And it's pertinently untrue Jews only helping Jews. How many Jews live in Haiti, do you think?! OTOH, Arabs don't help anyone, not even other Arabs - except as jihadists to fight the infidel.
6. Let them in...
Joshua ,   Jersey City, USA   (02.03.10)
...within reasonable limits. I think Israelis get too caught up in the "demographic threat" of refugees. A Jewish state can still be a Jewish state and include "the stranger among us." I actually think it would strengthen Israel. Right now, the only "minority" in Israel is the Arab minority, some of which (though not all) express an identity explicitly antithetical to Zionism. A more diverse society would create minority communities that are not explicitly trying to counter the Jewish nature of the state. Obviously there are limits to the number of refugees any nation can take in, including Israel. But I don't think Israel has reached that limit.
7. Israel has to take care of jewish refugees
Vardina   (02.03.10)
and of thecountr's own hungry people. We can hardly solve our own problems and can not solve the problems of Africa. Sorry.
8. Why not Egypt, North Africa or Saudi Arabia???
Rosie   (02.03.10)
These countries don't want them. The refugees have a long term plan.....they are sent to Israel by the enemies of Israel and the enemies of the Jewish people to use's Israel's democratic system to try and destroy Israel as a Jewish nation and a democratic nation.
9. to #6 you as American should talk
ghostq   (02.03.10)
care to accept refugees from Haiti, didn't think so that is the reason the usa was the first to give them help cause you don't want them at your home.
10. People of Congo must go to Belgium and pressure Brussels.
Dan   (02.03.10)
I do understand the despair of refugees and Israel should let them in as long as it is capable of providing them a better life. But Israel has it limits and does not have enough resources. People of Congo must pressure Brussels to make them pay back. Belgium is too busy to act as a 'civilized Western democracy' to the world, though its own country's wealth is built on the blood and stolen future of the people of Congo. Belgium is trying to hide its own dirty and bloody history. How many people are talking about Congo Genocide? Belgium killed milions of Congo civilians.
11. To No. 9
Joshua ,   Jersey City, USA   (02.03.10)
The United States in fact has a sizeable Hatian population. Furthermore, all Hatians in the United States have now been granted Temporary Protected Status, which allows them to remain in the country and work even if they were here illegally. No one can credibly say that, on balance, the United States has not been open to immigrants of all types. Everyone should do their part, including Israel. It's not only the right thing to do, but will strengthen the state as a Jewish state.
12. #2 Selma, Selma, Selma...
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.03.10)
Apart from your blatant lies and dis-information regarding Israel's treatment of foreigners, do you really want me to start delving into how your Arab countries deal with these poor refugees? Trust me, you REALLY don't want me to go there.

I believe, that refugee should understand our problem too.IT IS FIRST TIME IN MORE 2000 YEARS jews got a chance to rebuid their own country.Refugee should be part of the human rights movement and fight for their right to go back to their country of origins under UN supervision, but not Israel/It is UN obligaition to help them but not Jew and Israel.

19. To: Joshua
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.03.10)
Get real. The United States has occasionally granted blanket amnesties to all manner of illegal immigrants. Not necessarily because the government wants to, either. Did you know that over 2500 illegal immigrants are deported from the United States each week?
