32. Israelis Don't be so Cocky
Ahmad Cohen ,   Ibn Mousa HaLevy   (02.03.10)
The MIG-29's may not be as new and shiny as they were once. But I remember when we first got them and the World was afraid of us and our superior capabilities in the air. Don't be fooled by the rust on the wings and that clanking sound in the jet engines. We are still a formidable force that IAF should fear. I also remember that Syrian pilot who broke formation in 1988, defected, and flew directly to Israel. He landed in the Meggido area thinking that he had it made. USA, Israel, and others wanted to get their hands on the MIG29 technology. What they didn't expect was the Israeli Tax Collectors (Meches) got their first demanding $60 million dollars import tax. The poor guy didn't have the money and was forced to return to Syria where he was not dealt with kindly.
33. #24 correct, Syria improving, u r dropping Excstacy
LoverofZion   (02.03.10)
In 1973 Israel underestimated the Syrians and almost got their a$$ handed to them. I suggest you recall what Hizbollah did, and remember the Syrians without uniforms and weapons have had 30 years to get it together. Cockiness get ya killed.
34. To: No. 31
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.03.10)
You've been smoking way too much hashish. And listening to way too much Arab takes on "fact." Israel ran all of you candy-assed cowards right on out of the Golan. and 1967, and kicked you all the way to Quneitra. Keep it up, and we'll take more. The choice is yours. Damascus isn't all that far away, coward. Give us the chance to prove just how easily you can be dispatched. For good.
35. Theres a reason why Syria didnt retaliate BunnyRabbit.....
Papaya King ,   NYC, NY   (02.03.10)
it would have been cause for the UN to investigate the facility. Syria is not stupid, they know that UN sanctions would have followed. By not retaliating they could tell the UN to eff off when they desired to investigate the situation. Its all politics my dear. Plus Syria doesnt need to retaliate when they Hezbollah to do this for them.
36. #1 - They do not have right to expose their citizens to war
William ,   Israel   (02.03.10)
Through their support of Hizbullah terrorists in Lebanon, the purposeful destabilizing of Lebanon, supoort for Al-Qaeda insurgents in Iraq, hosting "palestinian" terrorist groups, and aligning themselves with Iran/NK despotic regimes....Syria is placing its entire population in harm's way. No govt has the right to do that, but it's not surprising. Hamas places Gazans in harm's way daily, even threatening to kill anyone who seeks medical help from Israel without consulting them. Hizbullah places the entire population of Lebanon on the chopping block when it acts unilaterally against Israel. And let's not forget - Syria has been threatening Israel with war since 1967. And if they continue to aid Hizbullah with illegal arms transfers, they are just as guilty (per Intl law) as Hizbullah when they launch a rocket against civilians in Israel.
37. #3 - a bully and his friend on the playground
William ,   Israel   (02.03.10)
This latest bravado from Syria is simply because they feel confident from the latest defense pact agreed on with Hizbullah. It's like a school kid picking fights on the playground because his new friend is a bully. The truth revealed is that despite this "pact", Syria was always going to be targeted (legally) for its complicity in illegal arming of a terrorist group and Lebanon will be targeted all over for the actions of their new govt party, Hizbullah. In Syria's mind, it's ok. They believe Lebanon and Syria are one country anyway.
38. #34 I think you got monopoly on hashish
syria eagle ,   homs   (02.03.10)
39. #14 - It's true using Arab perspectives
William ,   Israel   (02.03.10)
Even though Syria started ever war that was won against it, the true understanding of their claim that Israel lives on aggressiveness can be seen in Arab perspective. To them, Jews governing themselves and basically breathing is considered an act of aggression. And it's not the first time we've ever heard that simply by existing, Israel is considered an act of aggression and an attack on Muslim sensibilities (whatever the hell that means).
40. #16 - A'bad is really the one laughing here
William ,   Israel   (02.03.10)
Because Syria is on the front lines and will be hit very, very hard...while A'bad watches the whole thing on CNN. Assad really is unaware that he's the canary in the coal mine for Iran.
41. #21 - do you notice govt/IDF do not talk to each other?
William ,   Israel   (02.03.10)
Your own posting shows how true this is. While the IDF is working to mitigate threats from our neighbors (which has continued for decades), the govt is busy giving away the shop. Plus, it's also how democracies work. The army protects the citizens, and politicians deal with politics. No one can blame Olmert for reaching out to Syria for peace (which Israel has done for a long time now), but one can fault him and Barak for so easily capitulating to the very sponsors of terrorists who seek to kill our civilians. Israel is the biggest violator of Intl Law? Have you turned on a TV lately? Are you allowed to Rabbi?? Despite all of the intl law and human rights violations of our neighbors, Israel is technically still at war with Syria so a fly-over and targeting of a nuke facility is perfectly legal per Intl Law. Better you stick to reading torah and not to making assumptions on what the govt knows, or want. Clearly, you're speaking from no experience.
42. #21 Fake Cohen - You are no Rabbi and I can prove it
meir elazar   (02.03.10)
What is the 19th blessing that was added to the Shmoneh Esreh and its significance? Failure to repond will be considered proof that you are nothing but a fake.
43. #24 - The Americans kicked your ass in 1973?
William ,   Israel   (02.03.10)
Another Syrian fantasy like when they still celebrate launching the 1973 war on a population that was both fasting AND praying? Pretty brave of you, just like when you flattened Homa and all 10,000 civilian residents. Would this surprise of your's be the same as the surprise promised by Hamas? A $2 million party? Is Beyonce invited??
44. #31 - the Third Temple is gone? Is that what Moshe screamed?
William ,   Israel   (02.03.10)
Moshe was screaming about the Third Temple being gone? What? So what if Golda asked for weapons from the US. They are our partner, you know, and really more interested in pushing back the Soviets that were arming you tyrrants in order to take over the ME oil. That's no secret. But it was Israelis who flew those planes that eventually kicked Syrian ass. If I understand correctly, it's only Israel that both highlights its heroics and is very critical of its short-comings...where Syria and Egypt continue to celebrate the 1973 war as a huge success.
45. #11
Dee ,   GB   (02.03.10)
Israel attacked Gaza City, bombing schools, hospitals, mosques killing over 400 innocent childred ,so your saying what your government did was illegal. Also Israel unilaterally annexed the Golan Heights in 1981. The move was not recognised internationally
46. Dear Ahmad: Are you perhaps a mole
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.03.10)
for Revenue Israel trying to collect and extract the last remaining taxes due to Israel from that errant Syrian pilot? Well, it just goes to prove that revenue agencies in each and every country, mideastern, European or North American, are all the same, Sir. You do not distinguish on the basis of religion, race or nationality. You are the most equal opportunity global bureaucracy which exists. But I implore you, Sir, please stop pursuing that poor Syrian pilot. He is a grandfather now and he is now longer a member of the Royal Syrian Airforce. Please prove that revenue agencies can, and do, have a heart. Yours truly, Bleeding Heart.
47. William yes moshe screamed

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.03.10)
Umm, so, Dee in Great Britain -- how many German children were killed in the Allied carpet bombing of Germany, eh? Well more than 400. So, you don't recognize the annexation of the Golan Heights? Guess what, ace? Most of the world does not recognize British annexation of the six Northern Ireland counties either. Ooh, look! Stalemate. Would you like me to continue the rather long list of British unilateral acts which were not recognized by any other country? Shall I start with the creation of "Jordan?" How about all those artificial borders created by the British in Africa? Oh, wait -- what about carving up Europe and changing borders and allegiances on a whim following Armistice in 1918? Do I hear hunting Mau-Mau for bounty in Kenya? Wait -- killing Indians by the hundreds of thousands in India? Name you poison, ace. Where would you like me to begin?
49. :: #47 Hafez Al Wahsh was afraid to scream in '73
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (02.04.10)
being scared to death cowering in his deep bunker that IAF Eagles hovering above his palace would hear him, while destroying all military power centers in Damascus This coward was the failed commander of the brave Syrian Crow Force in 1967 Now you have the baby Crow "ophthalmologist" bumped up to Colonel rank in 5 years with no military experience required, running the minority Alawi Dictatorship show and will not do any better

You seriously think Syria has a chance of defeating Israel in a war. SYRIA Scuds from the same era as Saddam Hussains. Soviet era MIGS and probably the worst pilots in the Middle East. Missile boats & friggates that took part in the 1967 & 1973 wars TZ2 tanks from the 70s & 80s half of them have been scavanged for spare parts to keep others running. A poorly trained mainly reserve army. iISRAEL Patriot & Arrow missile defense systems along with a host of other anti aircraft weapons. Latest F15 & F16 and the best pilots in the region along with UAVS which can fire missiles. In the first Lebanon war the IAF shot down over 100 Syrian MIGS and didn't loose a single one of its own jets. Don't forget that only about 2 years ago IAF jets flew into Syria got round all your air defense systems and destroyed a nuclear site. Modern missile boats & corvettes and submarines Merkava tanks ( about 3 generations more advanced than any of the Soviet rubbish Syria has ) A highly trained reserve army equiped with the latest weapons and technology. Come on now you seriously think Israel has anything to worry about if it came to a war with Syria? Also remember this if even 1 Syrian missile hits an Israeli town and causes heavy casualties then Israel will show no mercy and not even Obama will be able to force Israel into accepting a ceasefire and the country is not being run by Olmert, Livni and Peretz this time. So if your want to be burying tens of thousands of syrian soldiers and see the country turned to rubble I am sure then go ahead fire on Israel and I am sure we will then be more than happy to help out with the destruction of Syria.

Why, yes, "Matty Groves of Fairport (Convention)" -- so I did. Thank you so, for reminding me. While I am a citizen of Israel, I am also a citizen of the United States (by birth, actually) and the Monroe Doctrine being what it is -- and Argentina being such a wonderful safe haven for Nazis as it was -- I neglected to mention the Malvinas. Do forgive me. In point of fact, the Argentinian Navy had very much the better of the British Navy (explaining Prince Andrew's rather abrupt helicoptered departure, tee hee, from his battleship) -- but, nevertheless, I trust you will forgive my tiny bit of hemispheric hegemony. Thanks! I just KNEW yo would. Why, the last thing on earth YOU would want is to engage in a debate with me .... but we all know that, don't we? It certainly would explain why you beat such a hasty retreat every time I answer your rather puerile and idiotic posts ..... well -- someone has to do it! Ta ta.

Amine & Sherkoh How about we team up against Syria, it would be a good start which would lead to an end of Syrian influence in Lebanon & Iraq Kurds can have independence, in Lebanon Hizbollah would loose a large part of their control over the country & Syrian influence over policy making would end. Go along way towards Israel making peace with Lebanon and the Kurds. Ahmed I hate to be the one that has to tell you this but the days when Syria was a superpower are long gone. You think the MIGS with the rust on their wings are any match for Israels F15 & F16s? Do you remember in the first Lebanon war when the IAF shot down over 100 Syrian MIGS and didn't loose any of its own. That was also before rust started setting in on the MIGS & Israels planes were less advanced as they are today. If you want my advice if war does ever break out go find a bomb shelter and stay out of the cockpits of your rusty MIGS. I would also just like to correct you on that little matter of the defector. The Syrian defector brought a MIG 23 not a MIG 29 and is now on display at the airforce museum in Beersheba. If you want to defect to Israel I would be glad to take you there to visit. GOOD LUCK IN THE WAR!

First of all, the international group has decided in favor of Iranian nukes. Too many liberals believe the best policy is to sit quietly and wait for destruction? Those people are not running Israel now. What I am suggesting is that next time someone attacks without provocation, that Israel (not you) actually WIN the war, and that includes putting a price tag on it for the aggressors, along with additional insurance for ourselves. As far as "the world" countenancing *anything*, SINCE WHEN did the world approve of anything Israel does? Hello? If we put an Arab mass murderer in prison, the UNHRC complains if the guys lunch is late. They covered in the MSM and the IDF does not. You were doing -OK- until the statement about Golan. Only an imposter would make such a stupid statement. I suggest you start digging and hope they don't put me in charge, or anyone else that recognizes "world opinion" for what it really is.
