Why are we on the Golan Heights at all? Because in 1967 Syria attacked us, together with Jordan and Egypt. They did it again (without Jordan) in 1973. Syria has never expressed regret about starting 2 wars with us, has never expressed a deep desire for peace, only a demand to return what they lost in wars they started. In addition, Syria is fuelling all the fires in Lebanon. Only a fool would relinquish the Golan Heights under such circumstances.

If the Syrians want peace, they should talk with us, Israeli directly, and through talk and negotiation should reach an accommodation of peaceful coexistence: peace for peace. We, Israelis, are eager to reach such an accommodation. Are the Syrians...??

The Golan is part of Israel and always has been. The British illegally transferred the Golan to the French in Syria. So you can't return your own property to a thief who stole it just because he wants it. In 1967 Israel launched the war and attacked Egypt ( our air planes were grounded) we on our happy day 6 of October 1973, got our land back. Syria will have to do the same if it wants its land back. You know that very well.
