31. A better man than Marwan Bargrouti
Ilan ,   Ariel   (02.04.10)
Not much of a compliment, but clearly someone guilty of one murder is less reprehensible than someone guilty of 5 murders.
32. When you deliberately take the life

of another human being, you give up your rights, period. The fact that Samir Kuntar should have rotted in jail forever does not mean Yigal Amir shouldn't. Amir is a hero to some people? Whoop-de-do. Kuntar is a hero to other people. This has nothing to do with heroism. Both of them make me very, very sorry that we don't have the death penalty. Amir's child may be innocent but his wife certainly isn't. If keeping him in solitary confinement wipes that smug smile off his face, that's fine with me.
33. Reason: To stop his becoming a politicized voice for the

extremist right that is violent. There exists a small group of Kahanist wannebes who are perfectly willing to notch it up and develop a terrorist faction that implements violence. This is very dangerous to the diplomatic agenda of the State of Israel. The issue of solitary confinement is a legitmate one for someone who could have instant credibility and a voice. Thisman's answers indicate he has more to say in a philosophic tone. He cannot be allowed to publicize his views and inculabte in a prison. Jonathan Pollard has become a fine example of how a criminal can manipulate his image and turn himeself (with the help of a marketing savvy wife) into something he absolutely was not. Neither man didanything for the state, and both men are willing to lie to justify the lies they beleive now about themselves.
34. #32 - why his wife is not innocent?

zionist forever   (02.04.10)
The fact the man has some radical views and was willing to kill a politician doesn't make him a threat to anybody. How many arabs are there in prison with radical anti Israel views support he idea of killing Israeli politicians and have killed but they don't get kept in solitary for 15 years and called a security threat. The law even bars the president from giving pardons to Israeli prisoners whilst terrorist killers who have done alot worse can be released as goodwill gestures. Vanunu who was a real threat to national security only spent 11 years in solitary. So the man who told the world some of Israels most sensitive military secrets gets 11 years solitary and is now free but you have a man who has not done anything other than murder 1 man gets 15 years and may be going back for another stretch. The only reason Yigal Amir is treated this way is spite because he is an Israeli and he killed an Israeli PM How many people are there in Israel who although they didn't actually kill anybody believe that he did the right thing killing Rabin? I have seen plenty of them on the various discussion sites like Ynet, Jpost & the various other discussion sites. Amir is locked up it doesn't matter if he has remorse for what he did or if he still believes in that political ideology because he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Just put the spiteful feelings aside and let the guy out of solitary its not a big thing for him to want.
36. Kol Hakavod Amir!

As a result of the Rabin killing the Knesset passed a law barring the president to give a pardon to any Israeli who has committed murder. There are only two reasons that they would have introduced a law like that. 1) The GOVERNMENT has something to hide and as long as Amir is in solitary they can keep their little secret. 2) Spite Amir killed the PM so that makes him worse than the likes of Samirt Kuntar and all the other killers in jail and so should be treated different. Why did Vanunu who knew all these secrets about Israels nuclear program get only 11 years in solitary and Yugal Amir has spent 15 years there and he will probably be thrown back into solitary for another 15 years?
38. let him rot in his jail cell

39. to #19...you're the one who's got it mixed up....
Elinor ,   beit shemesh   (02.05.10)
and Meir, #6, is 100% correct. yigal amir's wife is as sick as he is. As for their son, poor kid, to be stuck with the genes and the name of this wretched murderer. He should rot in jail in solitary til his last breath.
40. Where is the Civil Libertarians ? (rhetorical question)

41. DONT 4get the Alterlena!!!!
KACH 613 ,   Judah, Israel   (02.05.10)
I don’t think that Y Net will have the guts to put up my post, but if they do good for them because we do have freedom of speech. I’m sick and tired of all this love for Rabin, this man personally was involved in the murder of a family member of mine on the Altarlena. In my opinion Yigal Amir killed Oslo which saved hundreds of Jewish lives. I want to stress that people should never take things into their own hands, instead Rabin should have been put on trial for treason and murder for the Altaerlena.
42. #30 & 39. Amir merits a new trial. This is not justice.
Chaim   (02.05.10)
Amir's ridiculous trial was as close to a show trial as Israel has ever seen. How can we have confidence in a verdict based on hundreds of inconsistencies? Moreover, as other posters have noted, why is the establishment so eager to silence Amir? What are they afraid of? They have no problem honouring Arab mass murderers of Jews. This situation stinks to the highest heavens. Amir merits a new trial and the Rabin assassination merits a true investigation. We can't keep pretending this is justice.

Avi, Tel Aviv   (02.05.10)

45. good morning police state of israel!
alan zheimer   (02.05.10)
democracy my ass! the legal system dances to the tune of the shabak. this country just can't afford democracy. true democracy requires checks & balances. this is nowhere in sight. right mr. president? ;)

47. Why the bullet holes weren't his
Shalom Hartman   (02.05.10)
Amir was set up by GSS. He was urged to kill Rabin (and this is why they think he did it). However the position of the bullet holes, plus the video showing that Rabin was alive and unharmed at the time he got into the car, show that from Amir's angle, he could not have been the culprit. Again I say the same thing - ask Peres. The same way as the dirt about Teddy Kolleck only came out after his death; the biographers are going to have a field day after Peres' demise.
48. champagne for Amir
Zuri ,   Sydney Australia   (02.05.10)
What the hell does he expect, good conditions and some benefit? Amir has murdered in cold blood Rabin who was working hard for the nation to achieve peace If Amir murdered in cold blood, and believe in his twisted principles- then no problem-He should be able to understand that this kind of action carry maximum punishment. He brought shame on his family and country, he should stay in jail Forever!!! with no parole and no exemptions
49. That's right Yigal
agi   (02.05.10)
You are not a threat, but you are a piece of human excrement, and as such you should be treated till your dying day. My advice to you would be to try and find your own way out, thus relieving yourself of the pain and us from you.
50. Shame on Israel for treating him worst that arab terrorists
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (02.05.10)
who have killed multiple Jews. So it was wrong to kill a Jew but Rabin tried to give Jewish land to terrorists and he should have been stopped by some means other than killing. If arab terrorists can be released, then so should he. I would hire him or his wife or his son and his wife and child come with perfectly clean hands.
51. To #34 from #32
Haifa granny   (02.05.10)
Amir's wife is not guilty of pulling the trigger, only he did that. She is not guilty of ditching her husband, lots of women do that for a variety of reasons, and it is perfectly acceptable. She is guilty of being party to all those stunts, publicity and otherwise, they pulled, sneaking his sperm out of jail, or whatever, and she is guilty, guilty, guilty of the kind of education she is going to give her son. I am perfectly willing to be convinced: explain to me what the difference is between what she is going to tell her son and what the Hamas kindergarten teachers say. That it is acceptable to kill a Jew? That if you disagree with someone, it is OK to kill them? That if your politics are different from someone's you kill them? That Yigal Amir is a shaheed? Even Kahana knew better. When one of his followers suggested killing Yossi Sarid (ridiculous in retrospect, not so at the time) he said "We don't spill Jewish blood." Peace with the Arabs? Not in my lifetime and probably not ever. Should we keep trying? Morally, yes, but I don't know how much good it will do us. Give up one inch of Eretz Israel? I'm very much against it. Does that give anyone the right to take someone else's life because he has a different opinion? Only the extreme right wing thinks (and acts) that way. I have three red lines, and two of them have been crossed. One is Bibi as prime minister. One is letting Samir Kuntar out of jail. The third is letting Amir out of jail, and if that happens, after 50 years in the country, I'm out of here.
52. He is worse than Kuntar. Amir murdered
Vardina   (02.05.10)
our\his elected prime minister, therefore he should rot in isolation for ever. I wonder that so many like you, do not understand the difference between Kuntar and that cursed beast.
53. I believe Yigal Amir. Listen to his words:
JPS ,   Efrat   (02.05.10)
Yigal Amir himself says it perfectly. It's right there in black and white in the article: " I don't have a right to anything" He admits it. He accepts it. I support him in this. May he sit in his cell for the rest of his days and do tshuva for his sin.
54. Amir must sit
kevin ordon ,   tel aviv Israel   (02.05.10)
Yigal Amir is a cold blooded killer anyone who can take a gun and shoot a human being because Yigal does not like him is a killer ROT IN HELL YIGAL AMIR U Broke the 10 comandments Ass***le I hate you and wish you the worst
55. The murderers of Jewish babies, children
jason white ,   afula,israel   (02.05.10)
and pregnant women were pardoned and freed. Those with the blood of many Jews are soon to be freed, but the alleged killer of one old man is held in solitary confinement by a vicious government, g.s.s. and court system. The terrorists are treated better than Yigal. Maybe he should have killed Jews or sold state secrets to our enemies? Then he would have had better treatment. Did anyone ever figure out that more Jews have been killed since rabin signed that phony oslo death accords with the arch murderer arafat than in the two previous decades? Any normal country would have not honored rabin, even after death. Any other people would have hounded peres, beilin and the others for this. A trial for the disasters that oslo brought upon us should have resulted in long prison terms for those that sold us out to the enemy. Yigal should not have to sit in prison alone, put the traitors of oslo there as well as those that actually murdered rabin.
56. #51 - sorry - I miss your point
Arthur ,   SF, CA   (02.05.10)
So - you already know what she will tell her son? And she is guilty , guilty, guilty??? So - you take a position of a moral judge? How about judging Rabin for killing innocent Jews on Althalena?? Is it wrong to kill a Jew? Of course.. But tThose - on Althalena - were not killed: they were murdered in the cold blood. And Ben Gurion said - "bleesed be the holy cannon' that killed them. If anything - Rabin met his destiny. And the weekly parsha Pinchas - tells us a lot about killing vs murdering a fellow Jew.
57. Look, Rabin was gonna sell us out.He had to go.There was no
