no chest thumping. beautiful. syria got the message. so should others.
2. We need to get along
Born Syrian   (02.04.10)
Our real enemies are the fundamentalist in both sides. Moderate want the arabs and Israel to live in peace side by side with friendsip, cooperation and good relations. No long term winner in wars just more killing our kids deserve better
3. OH OH... IS BIBI CEDING GOLAN?
stude ham   (02.04.10)
4. lepoerd doesn't change his spots
marcel   (02.04.10)
Barak injects himself into the syria quarrel to calm it but as usual offers concessioniare speech--strategic objective to detach syria from hezbollah, and is upset at some of the statements made. Barak is ok at defense but nothing else. He is a wimp politically that s who he is and that's why he forever offers olmert concessions first before hearing the other side. Liberman did the right thing warning assad and nothing more need be said. Haaretz may not like it, but jews are tired of the whole labor kadima syndrome and so am I. These are bright people for the most dominated by fear of the gentile, fear of the overlord and run cup in hand-do not hurt us.begin started the ball rolling about changing the paradigm. And Egypt respected the strength. lieberman will end up PM and I would vote for him. barak will be gone with yaalon as the new defenes emininster and vilnai will be important as well because he is good. Livni may be Un amabassador. Gillerman coudl be the new foreign minister.landau will continue. The head of mossad will be some place as he is important.ben eliezer will be out as will the whole labor gang. Mofaz will be out.Shas may even be out depending on cirumstances.
5. Recent Actions By Israeli Government Officials Show No ....
World Citizen ,   the world   (02.04.10)
One Is In Control. So much for a Israeli government lead by right wing fanatics. Not only is your vountry a pariah among the civilised countries of the world. It is a laughing stock also.
6. Bibi IS Conceding the Golan
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (02.04.10)
Considering that this is the one issue that Syria cares about, the mere fact that he's willing to sit down and negotiate makes it clear that he's going to give up the Golan Heights.
7. :: Syrian, you have a multitude of main problems
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (02.04.10)
Israel has one main problem, but Arabs have many more. Even If the Arab war conflict against Israel goes away you will then be faced with solving the real serious problems that plague Arab society, Islamic religion is only one of them. Democracy, freedom of speech, emancipation of women, a terrible infrastructure, agrarian societies, oil parasites, minority rights, allowing breakaway and independence of minorities without a country, Kurds, Druze, Alawi, Christians, Copts, Darfurians, Berbers, Saharawis come quickly to mind Then you will have to deal with the culture/mentality of corruption, changing the educational system from hating the other and denying other nationalities rights to training productive citizens, third world economies, shortages of water The task in front of you is huge and not only that Arabs haven't started tackling it, there isn't even a meaningful discussion about it in the Arab world, just read the Arab League meetings minutes for the last 60 years and find out how all this is completely ignored.
8. I was find out that part of the Golan was
ghostq   (02.04.10)
bought by jews in 1881 from bedouins, so the golan land isn't belong to syria either way. this I didn't invent it is for real, just because Syria conquered it, it doesn't mean it's theirs. I didn't find more info about Isac Loebel but he was the head of the comeety who bought the lands in the golan. so if you by something from arab it's yours.
9. #5 vountries that are pariahs
dirty shirt ,   usa   (02.04.10)
World Citizen. Is the letter c a pariah amongst the rest of the keys, or is it just not included on your islamic keyboard.
10. Every one should take the Fifth before
syria eagle ,   homs   (02.04.10)
11. take the fifth return Golan then you have peace
al khateeb ,   sabra camp   (02.04.10)
also you should return the refugee from syria and lebanon or otherwise they will form another liberation movements that will drail any peace chance why importing one million jewswhen you have one million palestinian in the camps in syria AND LEBANON
12. ..and Also Recent Moves By Syrian Dictatorship Indicate Lack
World Citizen ,   the world   (02.04.10)
of willingness to give up on their stronghold on the Syrian people by stirring up tensions in the Middle East, denying Kurds the right for independence, suffocating the Syrian economy, rearming at an alarming rate, increasing persecution of dissidents, keeping their tight grip on Lebanon, allying themselves with the dictatorship of Iran and the, and threatening Israel for no reason other than Arab greed
13. Us and Them
Born Syrian   (02.04.10)
Lets remember “Never again”. The Holocaust happened because of people not feeling each others pain. Regardless if you are Arabs, Israelis, Jews, Christians, Muslims or atheists. We are all in this together we need to stop fighting and learn to love one another, trust one another, respect and defend each others rights and liberties. Sure we arabs have a lot of problems that need to be addressed (Fundamentalism, dictatorship, water issues .. etc) We need peace with Israel that is based on Justice and respect (land swap) as well as total security for Israel (Stopping the insanity of terrorizing the Israelis, stopping the hate, complete relationship, trade, and friendship and hopefully someday open border when we stop meaning each other harm) We need to create together a better middle east for everyone. We need to stop the downward spiral of separating us from them because that when atrocities happened when we stop feeling each others pain. I wish every one in this world a good life prosperity freedom liberty and enjoyment of true love. Hate will consume you.
14. #12 You're Not Fooling Anyone
World Citizen ,   the world   (02.04.10)
Do you pretend to be Sarah too?
15. Lieberman forget that Assad family is
syria eagle ,   homs   (02.04.10)
Syria and syria shall not lose the war or its being unlike lieberman who went back to russia yo get his old home back just in case he would make run for the borders
16. Lieberman needs to remember...........
Goya's Hoya's ,   Washington D.C.   (02.05.10)
that the Russians would never allow the fall of Syria or Assad. Just as the Soviet Union threatened to go nuclear on Israel in 67 and 73, they'll end any conflict between the two if Syria is facing massive defeat. Thats why Bibi is telling his ministers to shut up. In the end you can never really end the Syrian regime.
17. An interesting solution
Paul ,   Trinidad   (02.05.10)
Since cabinet ministers, in particular Lieberman, have no clue about diplomacy, muzzle them.
18. What are you talking about?
Anna ,   Montreal, Canada   (02.05.10)
Lieberman speaks Russian but he is not from Russia. He is from Moldavia. Lieberman didn't oficially graduate from any diplomatic school. But after many years of surviving and growing on the political arena he knows exactly what to say and when. Knowing well Russian culture and mentality he understands well the threat to Israel from Syrian big friends Russia and Iran. Don't underestimate him. Because he is doing what he is saying. And there are many people agree with him.
19. Israelis, why do you even react to Syrian statements?
leo ,   usa   (02.05.10)
There is de facto peace between Israel and Syria for almost 40 years now. Be ready, of cause, but why bother replying at all. Dog is barking, caravan keeps going.
20. Syria and the Golan – We should remember the facts!
Ron B. ,   Lod   (02.05.10)
Syria controlled the Golan for 19 years, beginning in 1948, and used it to systematically shell and attack the Israeli towns below, such as Ein Gev and others in the eastern Galilee. 140 Israelis were killed in these attacks, many more were injured, and heavy property damage was also inflicted. Israel liberated the Golan Heights in the 1967 Six Day War, thus freeing northern Israel of the Syrian threat. Israel soon realized that the Golan was vital not only militarily, but also in terms of water, history, and more. The Golan was officially annexed to Israel in 1981, and over the years, 33 Jewish communities were built, including the full-fledged town of Katzrin. Today, close to 23,000 Jewish residents in 33 communities (27 kibbutzim and moshavim, 5 communal settlements and the town of Katzrin) live on the Golan Heights and the slopes of Mt. Hermon. 21. Thank you for the words of wisdom,
Anna ,   Montreal, Canada   (02.05.10)
Born Syrian. I completely agree with you. And happy to see there is a way to start a dialogue. We all need to stop the incitement against each other.
22. WAY 2 GO, BIBI!!!!!!
Israeli 2   (02.05.10)
23. An week in he life of a snake oil salesman
zionist forever   (02.05.10)
Sunday he plays Ghandi. Monday he boasts how proud he is that he supports terror. Tuesday he plays the diplomat trying to solve all the worlds problems diplomatically. Wednesday he threatens to invade and take what he wants by force. Thursday he says Israel acting as an obstacle to the peace we all want. Friday he is proudly supporting all terror again. Saturday he rests
24. The Golan is officially Israli land, NOTHING to negotiate.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (02.05.10)
Well maybe the price Israel will charge Israel for helping syria solve their water shortage or what Israel will charge syria for solving their food shortage. No charge at all for helping regime change.
25. #11 No peace possible with Syria
Cynthia ,   USA   (02.05.10)
While the Iranian Regime agitates and creates conflicts and wars against Israel. Assad Sr. used the Golan to launch bombs at Israeli communities below the Golan. Assad Jr. wants the Golan back for the same purpose. The Palestinian refugees should have been resettled in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan long ago. Over 850,000 Jews from Arab lands were ethnically cleansed and resettled into Jewish communities throughout the world. Not one was left behind in a refugee camp.
26. #13 a pathetic dreamer born in the fairy tale land
Wael ,   Syria   (02.05.10)
Israeli lahgh about naive personality like you,who doesn't understand what is really going around him.Have a history book and read the jewish history since Faraon time that makes you better understand with which nation you are dealing with . Peace?! yeah all the Israeli actions are directed toward peace no doubt .
27. I agree with you Wael #26
Sami, Syria ,   Syrian   (02.05.10)
I agree with you Wael. Born Syrian doesn’t now what he is talking about, he/she seems to live in fairytale world. We as Syrians know what Israel is all about; it is a racist entity, which peace could never be achieved with. They know it only requires one defeat and it will all be over, they think that they are superior as humans, how can you negotiate or even contemplate peace with this people. Let it be known, any war between us will reach their doors, this isn’t 67, 73 or whatever.
28. Tough Talk and emptiness.
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (02.05.10)
When will we learn that tough talk is empty of content. He who is really strong and has confidence in his strength has no need to swap "tough talk" with the local loudmouths.Pity that so many Israelies are sucked in by this superficial display of strength, it really reflects weakness and fear from lack of confidence. The politicians know this ,and exploit it ,the newspapers profit by it.
29. Reply to #28 Wael, Syria
Born Syrian   (02.05.10)
That is not true Israelis are mostly moderate and some posting here are from extremist guided by hate. The only way to go is to step out of your belief for the sake of argument and imagine yourself in your so-called enemy’s shoes see what they want and dream. Isolate the extremist on both parts who want no peace and do not allow their warped ideas carry the day. When Arabs and Israelis travel outside they tend to build with each others better friendship than with the native of the country they are visiting or currently live in. We are very close in our way of thinking but determine to destroy each others .. and for what I am not a dreamer I just woke up from a nightmare of hate.
30. #29 Born Syrian - nice post!
