1. I have voted abroad for more than 1 election
zionist forever   (02.08.10)
I have am an olleh from the UK and came to Israel about 10 years ago now but I have always made sure I was registered for a postal vote. I have voted in general elections, European elections even local ones when I was registered at my parents address because we used to live in the same town. People fight and die to get democracy so I see it as a duty to vote if you are able and feel it affects you in some way.
2. NO
dani   (02.08.10)
i have an israeli passport and live abroad. should i be allowed to vote without thinking about the consequences? ("hmm, i think I will vote for this ultra religious party that wants all women to face backwards when riding on busses...) NO.
3. Can i also vote:)
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.08.10)
Mr. Lieberman you are wrong, we would prefer you and hope to remain a foreign minister over the life of "Israel" wich we hope to be ashort
4. More power for the Right
Michael ,   Haifa   (02.08.10)
People, who will not have to pay any consequences, will vote in pseudo-patriotic fascists. Rabin knew who these wretched fall-outs really are.
5. One State Solution
Jake ,   USA   (02.08.10)
I hope this is a pre-requisite to the ensuing One State Solution (Israel proper + West Bank - Gaza = Greater Israel). The demographics are not so scary anymore, and if Pals had to simply pledge allegiance to the state of Israel in order to vote, at least half of them would refuse. I do have one question for Bibi... Why just foreign Israeli's? Why not all foreign Jews? I would gladly give up my voting rights in America (I refuse to vote for either of the 2 corrupt ruling parties here) if it were a requirement for voting in Israeli elections. Jews have an automatic right of return, why not an automatic right to vote?
6. YES! Great idea. Besides, Americans do it- many countries
Jae ,   LYNN US   (02.08.10)
do this. Just Do It!
7. I feel so bad for you
Benjamin Mizrahi ,   Haifa   (02.08.10)
8. Voting while abroad
jeremy ,   hula valley kibbutz   (02.08.10)
Finally, I hope this law passes. In the ever changing world we live in, and with all the travel aboard for work, one should not have to lose their right to vote just because they need to be aboard at the time of elections. It won't be the down fall of our country, and the battle cry of the left that there will be to many religious voting, then get out there and make sure your people vote too.
9. #5 Jake. If one cares enough they make aliyah
Jae ,   Lynn US   (02.08.10)
One needs to show the basic commitment to Israel before getting the right to vote. Who should it be different? besides most Jews barely have a bar mitzvah education. The ignorance is very strong among Jews about their own history, religion, and connection to the land. many are reform, or do not practice anything jewish.
10. #2-No-Before you critize Judaism LEARN IT!
Ana ,   Pusar   (02.08.10)
11. You just got my vote!
Dov ,   London   (02.08.10)
Bibi, You just got my vote however my wife is a leftist so I guess it's kinad useless in my families case! her vote will cancel out mine!
12. Bibi is afraid, very afraid of the right wing vote
Grizzly Bear   (02.08.10)
Now he wants to recruit all self-exiled Israelis, Jews and Arabs, to bolster the leftist vote.
13. #9 Jae. Most of the Jews you describe would not agree...
Jake ,   USA   (02.08.10)
...to give up voting rights in their country of residence, but many like myself would. I would like to make Aliyah, and in the future I intend to, but its not possible right now, and I would love to help Israel in the meantime.
14. DON'T STOP THERE ... LET ALL JEWS THE WORLD OVER VOTE!
stude ham   (02.08.10)
the jews of this world also contribute heavily to israel's strength and welfare and cannot be excluded from their connection to the lands of israel.
15. Phoney Voting .Many Recounts.Theoretical but not Practical
Roland Seener ,   London England   (02.08.10)
16. Why not
Avi ,   London   (02.08.10)
Does it matter where we live in any given time? We are still Israeli citizens. We visit Israeli often have homes in Israel. We have all spent years of our lives in the IDF and send our children back to do their service. Why shouldn't we vote? many of us still pay Bituach Leumi, Kupat Holim etc. Our hearts and minds are still in Israel. We're just temporarily abroard to make a little money so our children will be able to have an easier life in Israel. I personally am in the galut to work so my children won't have to live in the galut and can live confoprtably in Israel.
17. justice is blind
zvuv ,   US   (02.08.10)
Oddly when a Palestinian leaves Jerusalem or any other place under Israeli jurisdiction of land captured in the '67 war, they often lose any of their rights to return let alone vote. Israeli Justice is blind. I will opt not to vote. The Likud loves the opportunity of letting the so-called "yordim" voting since many of the Israelis living in the rest of the world are right wing too.
18. why shouldn't israelis abroad vote
david ,   new york   (02.08.10)
i don't need to be in the US in order to vote for a US election. why should israel be different? anyway: it would add jewish votes. perhaps they should have a limit, for example that you need to have been to israel in the past 10 years in order to vote there?
19. With Conditions
Solomon ,   Bklyn   (02.08.10)
There should be conditions assuring that you would have knowledge and feel of the local circumstances. Example- Must have lived in Israel for 10 years and lived out of the country for not more than three years. This would finally eliminate the Haredi who live full time in the US who are paid to come to Israel just to vote. It also might convince Israelis living abroad to return to live in Israel.
