alan ,   texas   (02.10.10)
Arab terrorimt knows no discrimination. I extend my condolences to this fine family.
32. after Palestinians return back, where will the Druz go
observer   (02.10.10)
General Hummus (Lahad of SLA) has the answer; either to Lebanon or Syria?, to the hell or hell tops.
33. Should have listened to Jumblatt
Lebanese   (02.10.10)
Druze leader Walid Jumblat many times called on Druze Arabs to stop serving in the zionist army. Some Druze listen, others dont. The ones that listen live and the ones that dont die. It is a simple formula. The Arabs will never forgive the Druze of Palestine for their treason. Just as the christians of South Lebanon had to flee their villages and live in refugee camps in the Galiliee, one day the Druze will suffer a similar fate. Israel is a temporary experiment. It will not last forever.
34. Ihab Khatib is a hero
Sharon ,   Yavne   (02.10.10)
Ihab Khatib was an Isreali- Druze hero who was viciously murdered by a coward, only because Israel eliminated the blocking posts in order to increase the chances for peace. Ihab Khatib is a hero of peace. May the Gracious Lord rest his soul in peace! May the coward murderer be doomed to suffering and pain every second of his life!
35. #26 those million are palestinians
sam   (02.10.10)
and are enemies of our nation. the druze are our brothers. spew your poison somewhere else.
36. #32 the pals are not coming back
ronen   (02.10.10)
and as long as the druze want to be here, they are not going anywhere either.
37. condolences to family
Ilia ,   Israel, Petach-Tiqwa   (02.10.10)
My condolences to family, rest in peace brave soldier. #32, the answer to your question is simple - after Palestinians return back (to the HELL), the Druz will stay here, in our common country which called Israel.
38. To# 33
(02.11.10)
You sound as a syrian, occupying the Lebanese land. Do you really think that if hisbollah terrorists managed to run over Lebanon, they can take Israel down ? If Israel defeated all their enemies in wars waged on them 6 times, not to mention the war on terror, don't you see it by now, that not Arafat, not Nasralla or any other of your dictators, can take Israel down-Ever...And stop bullying the peace loving Arabs.....Every "dog" has his time and one day you too will answer to a Higher Authority for your actions and preferences...
39. Israel will not last forever
Ilia ,   Israel   (02.10.10)
#33, It is a simple formula - israeli Druze does not listening to Jumblat and serve Israel as Jews do, because they are equal citizens. I don't think they need forgiveness of arabs, they actually live better then most arabs, especially in your country. They are equal citizens of free and strongest country in the middle east, while arabs are not.
40. DRUZE are NOT Arabs
Fares ,   Jordan   (02.11.10)
Druze are NOT Arabs. The only loyalty Druze have are to the people in power. They fought alongside the Ottomans, alongside the British, and now they fight alongside Israel. They will pledge allegiance to whomever is in control. It is a strange part of their culture.
41. #26 - Israel IS a State of all its citizens
William ,   Israel   (02.11.10)
Yes - including the 1.5 million Arabs, who get the same healthcare, attend the same universities, shop the same stores, travel the same roads, and work the same jobs...as Jews, Christians, etc. Yes - this IS a State of all its citizens, yet some of those citizens demand services for which they do not pay taxes. Some of those citizens demand security but refuse to even do National Service (something that benefits ALL citizens, not just Jews). There are those locales that have leaders that want the Israeli Arabs to call themselves "palestinians", that wave the PLO flag, that support Hamas' war crimes against their fellow citizens, and demand the majority (Jews) not be allowed to act as the majority. If these groups both HATE the State of Israel and identify themselves as "palestinians" why would they protest if their village becomes PA territory in a land swap deal? It boils down to racism, greed, and power - nothing to do with equality or community.
42. #28 - Druze, like Jews, felt Arab racism for centuries
William ,   Israel   (02.11.10)
Druze soldiers are some of the most toughest fighters against the Arab racist terrorists. They know very well from personal experience the Arab racism and do not hide their contempt of both Israeli Arabs and the "palestinians".
43. #30 - Have you pledged allegiance to the State?
William ,   Israel   (02.11.10)
Have you completed your national service? If you did do these things, I would fight till my last breath for your rights. If you choose to follow Bishara, who's racist rants support nothing less than apartheid biased in favor of Arabs, and fly the PLO flag, then you deserve what you get. Israel is a State for ALL citizens, but but if your nature is more selfish which puts all citizens at risk then you don't deserve equality. We all have to earn it, and all have to give back to help everyone. Taking services but not paying taxes is a prime example. Do your part and you will continue to receive growing support for absolute equality - which I'm not sure what that means since you already get the same healthcare, schooling, social benefits, free movement, and access to jobs that we all do.
44. # 43: what do you mean by NATIONAL SERICE?
Labib ,   Haifa   (02.11.10)
turning Gaza into rubble killing countless women and children? become famous and be apart of a war crime report maybe even get prosecuted when traveling abroad? NO THANKS!!! you can keep your NATIONAL Service. I AM ARAB, i live in Haifa. my family has been here for generations. I am certainly not ISRAELI and not planning on it or YOUR National Service. some jews with a conscience refuse to do your national service in the occupied territories, you want the arabs to do your dirty work?
45. hateful Leb #33
Chimo ,   USA   (02.11.10)
Here you go boasting that Druze will be killed if/when Arabs take over Israel. First of all, It'll be a cold day in hell before the arabs ever drive the jews or druze from Israel, secondly Jumblatt is a lying coward who like most lebanese politicians, switches sides back and forth and has no loyalty to anyone. Lebanon belongs to Hezbollah now, and everyone (including Sa'ad Hariri) tows the line becasue their master's tell them to.
46. #33 - Way things are going, Lebanon might disappear first
William ,   Israel   (02.11.10)
Remember, Syria still maintains it holds absolute claim over Lebanon as part of the larger Syrian land - The Levant. With the turmoil you have there, civil war, Shia rebels funded by Iran, Syrian killing your PMs, a terrorist militia in your govt, Al-qaeda cells popping up north and south, and unrest in "palestinian" camps....you might disappear before Israel does. Remember this - before the partition of land between Britian and France, Lebanon was just a footnote in the Bible. Druze are well aware of the racism of Arabs and hated them well before Israel was re-born. Jumblat was a supporter of these Druze though now he seems to have been bought or threatened by Syria, because now he sings their praises.
47. @Tayfun_Turkey #9
lochem ,   jerusalem israel   (02.11.10)
PA security personnel have no jurisdiction outside of PA areas and therefore may not legally carry firearms outside those areas. the site of the attack was a checkpoint in the samaria, it was nowhere near any area of jurisdiction for PA security/police. if he was seen approaching the checkpoint carrying a firearm he never would have gotten close enough to the checkpoint in the first place. he had to hide his weapon (the knife) in order to carry out his attack.
48. To: #26 and #33
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.11.10)
#26: Yes, Israel is the state of all its people. Arab citizens have the same rights as Jews, including the right to vote, the right to run for parliament, freedom of expression and all the social services. Although there is indeed some inequality, Israel is working to end it. Still, Israeli Arabs have it much better here, than all the Palestinian refugees living in all Arab lands. Furthermore, Israeli Arabs enjoy favorable discrimination: they do not have to serve in the army, they pay few taxes, they live mostly in houses (instead of high apartment buildings in Israel), they drive like madmen, extort businesses and terrorize Jewish neighborhoods with the police doing hardly anything to them. As for the "deal" with the Palestinians you mentioned, no "transfer" is involved at all! Nobody intends to uproot these Israeli Arabs, they would get to keep their homes and lands. Only under Palestinian sovereignty instead of Israeli. After all, they've always viewed themselves as Palestinians, and "second class citizens" in Israel, so what's wrong with them living together with their Palestinian brothers? #33 "Israel is a temporary experiment. It will not last forever." - Isn't that what you Arabs said 10, 20, 30, and 60 years ago? Have we gone anywhere? I think your words have proven much more truthful regarding the history of your own miserable country.
49. And one more thing, #26
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.11.10)
Which I forgot in my previous post: the Druze people are loyal to Israel and love Israel, unlike many of the Israeli Arabs. They are NOT Arabs, and they have nothing in common with Arabs, aside for the language. Hence there is absolutely no "deal" planned to make them live as Palestinians. They view Israel as their home, and that's how it's gonna be.
50. Tragic simply tragic
Yoav Naor ,   Haifa Israel   (02.11.10)
Tragic that they lost a son.Tragic that they are being discriminated against.
51. Remarkable Family

May the True Creator & Sustainer bring comfort to the family & friends of this young man. What a terrible waste of life! What a remarkable family! Blessings and comfort be with you!.
52. israel - state of the jews AND the druze
dani   (02.11.10)
why not? after all, there is not a druze state? and these heroes have contributed immensely to the security of the state.
53. i want to cry very hard
(02.11.10)
for this poor man, for his devastated family and for the honorable and decent son they lost. may hashem be with him forever. may he and they know no further pain and may he rest in peace in god;s hands. amen
54. #40 not strange culture but honorable.
Asymetrical Bob   (02.11.10)
Not taking sides is wise. The Druze don't demand their own state, they dont rebel for the sake of taking power so they must have land to raise families, and if the Governing power is in trouble then loyalty, a trait that is part and parcel of their makeup, deems they fight for the Governing State. This is why Israel should always take care. Always give the Druze the benefit of the doubt. All they have is land and that's what we must respect In return they give you their blood and their childrens blood to also defend your land well. So its not to much to ask to be extre sensitive to them. Better a million Druze Knesset members and no Jewish ones then an all Jewish 1 with a treacherous Arab sitting there. I
55. Stop With the Slurs
NJ ,   the old north road   (02.11.10)
Seriously, a few of these talkbacks are insulting, whilst living along the northern border people like this soldier were my closest neighbours along with Maronites and all rural Jewish communities. This soldier was not just serving his country but his family, his home and all his neighbours irregardless of their origin, because they form a larger community of their own through a shared experience and environment which may not be understood by those in larger population centres. Many Druze soldiers are just protecting their homes and families from the same kind of terrorists who bombarded northern villages for years, they should not be unfairly maligned for doing so especially when many I have spoken with also expressed the wish to help any civillian regardless of which governmental authority they fall under.
56. Condolences
Northern Light ,   North of Israel   (02.11.10)
We cannot thank the Druze enough for their contribution to the security of the State of Israel. They are an honorable and fascinating people with a rich culture, and much misunderstood by outsiders. My heart breaks for the Khatib family. What a tragedy in addition to the other tragedies that befell them. My deepest condolescences. What a sad, sad loss.
57. GEE! I WONDER...
Yitzchak ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (02.11.10)
I wonder if all you leftists and Jewish Jew haters would be making such an outpouring of sympathy if indeed this had been a Jewish soldier who was killed? You would have said that he and his family "deserve" it, wouldn't you have?
58. my heart goes to the Druze family
ghostq   (02.11.10)
they r one of the nicest people I ever talked to I even heard that some Israelis jews r very active for their communities. they contribute in many ways even to the economy since they work. again may he RIP.

60. to #14 quit whining and stop politicies
ghostq   (02.11.10)
