31. #10 - Egyptian abuse and under-payment of Darfurians
William ,   Israel   (02.12.10)
Here is one example of modern day slavery. Sudanese refugees who escape into Egypt to avoid being slaughtered by Bashir's Janjaweed are treated as second class citizens by the populace. Reports by refugees that actually make it to Israel are many. The speak of being beaten by police, being beaten by their employers, getting denied payment with threats of being deported back to Sudan.... if this isn't slavery, what is?
32. #18 - A bit lazy today, aren't we Matty?
William ,   Israel   (02.12.10)
Hahaha - the HRW admitted to it! They then justified the money by saying they are just as hard on Saudi Arabia re: human rights. Kind of like saying "it's ok to take money from drug traffikers because we are critical of them in our reports"

Mohammad ,   Jordan   (02.13.10)
While i enjoyed reading your replies and the way you tortured some on this thread, i will be honest with you and tell you that you wasted your time by having a serious and logical discussion with SOME inferior minds! In my opinion , not everyone is worth listening/replying to. Whoever read my comments in the past would not find a trace of snobbery or prejudice. However, i do discriminate in the views i attend to not on basis of race/ religion/ nationality as most discussants on Ynet do, but on the basis of reason which is a faculty that is accessible to all. When i asked #5 to substantiate his claim i was not accusing him of lying, but i just wanted to see what kind of sources he uses to build his knowledge, to see if he understands the correct meaning/use of the term "slavery", and whether he was talking about slavery as a common practice or as some exceptional/ isolated cases. As i expected, his answer is not only rude "do the home work", but its the sure mark of intellectual bankruptcy (being unable to support your claim with evidence when challenged while the onus of proof is on you) so i simply added him to my ignore list!

Mohammad ,   Jordan   (02.13.10)
Would you please provide me with the link for your BBC story? is it a story about an isolated case or about wide spread phenomenon? What method/ info have you used to come to the conclusion that "child trafficking in Saudi Arabia, that is far worse than any comparable child trafficking rings in Europe. "? In relation to the Alarabiya article "Saudi activists liken child marriages to slavery" did you see the word LIKEN in the title? do you understand the correct meaning of slavery? do you question things when you read them or just accept whatever you read as the ultimate truth? Please dont take my last question as a personal attack, you can simply answer by yes or no.
35. To #31
Mohammad ,   Jordan   (02.13.10)
I am very disappointed by your answer as i consider you one of the seriouse discussants on Ynet. While there are different definion of slavery, there two essential elements to distinguish slavery from other terms: 1- Slaves are held against their will (like forced labour or debt bondage) 2- Slaves are deprived from their rights to recieve compensation (such as wages) Your example about darfurians in egypt can be calssified as "discrimination" which is a wide spread phenomenon and comparable wih the Palestinians who used to work in Israel as cheap labours. This is not slavery! While i am well aware that slavery still exist in all over the world (the onther day i watched a bbc documentry about slavery in modern UK and US), we should admit that they are isloated cases, and against or at least not tolerated by the law. If you decide to continue this discussion, i kindly request you to provide evidence that slavery today in Arabia is a common practice and worse than other parts of the world. If what you are saying that slavery in Arabia exists but similar/ no worse than other parts of the world, then you have been selective by picking and choosing examples from arab countries, and turning a blinded eye on others. As such, the whole discussion would be meaningless.
36. #20 - Where's Israel on the list?
William ,   Israel   (02.12.10)
Matty - you cited three news articles in an attempt to paint Israael as a point of slavery, despite those same articles citing what efforts Israel authorities are doing to stop it (as opposed to the Arab govts being complicit with their slave trade). I counted 31 specific violations among Muslim countries (Israel not listed specifically) and 4 of them are in Saudi Arabia.
37. #22 - even Hamas doesn't believe it, Mike
William ,   Israel   (02.12.10)
Hamas spokesperson said they will ignore the report because it doesn't really deal any hard blow to them. They cited having only several pages dedicated to hamas while the rest is against Israel. The jurist who was speaking on hamas' behalf, the same that acted as legal representation for the terrorist group and admitted to feeding the information for the report to Goldstone, basically said nothing will come of it. Doesn't sound very "fair" to me.
38. some people think
Ilana   (02.13.10)
they have the superior abilitiy of judging one as intelligent or not. Assessing one's post as worthy of their praise or disappointment. Sorry, but it doesn't work. All of Matty's posts are biased and unreliable and meaningless as they come from not a search for any knowledge or truth but from anti-semetism and hate of Israel. How one can enjoy such discussion is beyond my personal understanding, but who am I? Oh and there are plenty Matty's around us and we are tortured you are right- by lies, twists of truth, hatred, being portrayed as the truth. We like the truth. We hate lies. .
39. :: William - #32
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (02.13.10)
Blurting out a simplistic statement without any reference/link to news report/etc just shows how void of substance you are. Then again this is not new as I cannot recall any post which you have backed up any of your claims with any facts. You like Eitan accuse HRW of fundraising from the Saudi Gov therefore it is incumbent on you to back your accusation up, not me. One in innocent until proven guilty and HRW is innocent until you present actual evidence which states otherwise.
40. :: Mohammad - #33
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (02.13.10)
Thanks for the reply, I agree with your post particularly: However sometimes it is worth asking a question or challenging an inane statement even if I know the poster is incapable of answering objectively as this simply shows how shallow some posters are. The likes of Eitan and William/etc will never give an honest reply which can be backed up with provable facts because they are morally stunted and live in la-la land. For example ask most people here about the IDF using Palestinians as human shields and they will clam right up as they cannot discuss the subject as it would compromise their racism. Ie: they cannot condemn Hamas as ‘inhuman’ for an act that the IDF have also committed. Re: Hmmm, personally I would not use the term ‘inferior’ I would use such terms as ‘self-ignorance’/dishonest/racist/stupid/hateful/etc.
41. :: William - #36
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (02.13.10)
Firstly you are totally contradicting Eitan’s claim that HRW are unfairly ‘picking on’ Israel. This is not surprising as many wingnuts here contradict each other on Zionistic propaganda. Secondly you do not condemn the rampant culture of slavery in Israel, this is not surprising as most wingnuts here will overlook the moral failing of Israeli society so they can condemn Arab culture. Thirdly you have not answered my previous question: As you sincerely believe that HRW are fundraising in Saudi Arabia from the Saudi Gov you must have some solid evidence to back up your belief - what is this proof?
42. :: Ilana - #38
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (02.13.10)
Ilana you claim to ‘like the truth’ and ‘hate lies’, okay then let me state that the IDF have used innocent civilians as human shields - is this a ‘lie’ or is it the ‘truth’? It is a simple Yes or No question but you will slink away without giving a direct answer because you cannot recognize or acknowledge the ‘truth’/provable facts if it contradicts your misguided belief that the IDF are (ahem) ‘the most moral army in the world’. Don’t worry Ilana you have plenty of company here as most wingnuts are also in denial.
43. arabic problems
Amin   (02.13.10)
we all know that there is not good rights in arabic countries for gay, foreigner, woman and girl. They consider inferior. Arabics can marry very young girl against girls will. Then they have to serve the husband. Even give sex whenever he wants even while she cook dinner. Must not say no. This is slavery in my mind. Be honest and trustworthy. We must change some things in arabic ways-not good for modern life. Israel is more good to treat people more fair more trustworthy.
44. wingnut?
Ilana   (02.13.10)
low level insults will get you nowhere.Changing the subject is also a tactic. And anyhow what are you trying to prove? That Palestinians are innocent victims and Israel is wrong? Black and white? You see, once again you twist to serve your own purpose and thereby are blind to the truth. I do not claim we are 100% okay and moral. I claim we are much more moral, much more right. This is my OPINION and I can back it up with endless facts which you will choose to view as propaganda . And to drop to the low level of using insulting terms? Not for me. I won't. Now my turn to use YOUR tactics just for some fun: Do Hamas use civilians of their own as human shields-and at a high rate? Do Hamas operate directly our of schools and mosques and other public buildings? Did Hamas send over a total of 3,278 rockets and mortar shells to civilian Israeli territory (1,750 rockets and 1,528 mortar shells). Was half this amount fired into Israel in 2007? Was half this amount fired into Israel in 2006? HAVE 1,185 Israeli civilians been killed by Palestinian violence and terrorism since September 2000? Oh the list goes on and it will shortly prove why it is a waste of time relating to you. It will prove why I should not answer you and you can take it as me "slinking" away or being a " wingnut" that is just fine. You are way too annoying for me, you are too extreme for any decent conversation - I will be verbally terrorized by you, giving you and BBS and Mohammed great pleasure. So I guess I should go back to avoiding the temptation of opening your posts (what could he have come up with now? and etc) Enjoy yourself.
45. To Selma, #14
Alex Shilo ,   Washington, DC   (02.13.10)
"Butcher Ariel Sharon" The commander of the Christian militia who DID the massacre, Eli Hobeika, was he arrested, prosecuted, sentenced ? No. He was elected to the Lebanese Parliament and was even a cabinet minister for some time. Once they found the JEWS to blame, arabs killing arabs became business as usual. Three years before, Shiite militia killed Palestinians in the same Shatila and another camp: Amnesty International, HRW, BBC, all the good buddies were conspicuously silent: there was no JEWS to blame
46. To prove your point, Illana, just turn to
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.13.10)
Talkback #39 captioned "London Times" in today's article entitled "Arabs: Israel has gone too far ..." It's from "Matty Groves". He "slipped" I guess, let his guard down, and stated, without doubt, that he's a "bred in the bone Jew hater". This is not surprising. I figured this out long ago. I make it a habit of never responding to Jew haters as there is never a resolution to a problem with them, never an understanding (how could there be?) and never the satisfaction that we have truly communicated. Furthermore, as a Jew, I have nothing to prove to them, no need to prove anything and nothing to explain. I hope this short post helps. And thank you for your contributions to Talkback.

Ilana   (02.13.10)
yes you are right. I have decided to ignore those posts by our well known posters who thrive on hatred. I will not open their posts anymore. I will not be terrorized verbally by them or their methods and I truly think ignoring them is best for all. At least they support the commercials and promote ynet by coming on so often. Thank you!

Birdi ,   Israel   (02.13.10)
Is it so hard for you to google "slavery" ? There is nothing rude in telling you to google the answer yourself. If theere was no information on google about slavery,then Eitan would be unable to support his claim. Step down from your high horse as you are beginning to sound just like our 2 resident racists,Matyy & BBS.
49. # 14
Birdi (in disgust) ,   Israel   (02.13.10)
You must be totally insane to think that IDF soldiers would want to rape Palestinian females. Your post is way out of line & should not have been published to begin with.

Birdi ,   Israel   (02.14.10)
Ilana if its not you its one of us Israel supporters that Matty & BBS are trying to terrorize. They dont have a clue about Israel, tho they think they do. They are here on this forum to spread their hatred & JEALOUSY of our tiny country. They are more pathetic than annoying. BRAVO to you for your excellent post.

52. Just to assist the discussion/argument, I
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.14.10)
would refer the Reader to a video of a mass marriage in Gaza in which 450 male adults were depicted celebrating marriage with girls all under the age of ten. The men were dressed in formal wear and the girls in white dresses with eye shadow and make-up. For a westerner (retired psychologist) like me, very familiar with the crime of pedophilia and its effects on children as well as the mentality of the adult pedophiles, I found the video both shocking and obscene: thelastcrusade.org/2009/08/07/hamas-plays-host-to-pedophilia/. There is an accompanying article explaining the event written by Paul Williams which can be found at: thelastcrusade.org/2009/08/07/. I would not identify this as slavery in the traditional sense but I would call it a serious moral indictement against a collection of people under the administration of the Hamas regime. If anyone has any deeper knowledge of this social phenomenon and could explain this event in any further depth, it would be appreciated.

56. online defamation
Ilana   (02.14.10)
post #14 as well as others are online defamation. I have notified a few sources to look into these posts to see what if anything can be done. I personally am quite ready to take action as I find it appalling that such outright and hateful lies are posted. I have even notified Sharon's family. And don't give me your nonsenses about restricting freedom of speech, which does not exist in the places and people being defended here by by anti semetics. I don't buy that $%#^$%! I hope these posts and here are lots, will be deleted right away and that my post will be posted.
