1. Ah, the good ol'days
rob ,   orangevale USA   (02.13.10)
Gone are the good ol' days when an eye for an eye was a real threat when a militarized nation gets ahead of itself. There are parallels to today's war fighting nations, except that the determination of these nations to "end this" has drifted away. The Nazi's thought they could destroy without retribution, and we see how that panned out, Nations re- thought about doing that anymore. Because of that terrible campaign, Dresden is today a thriving bastion of democracy and freedom. Even the idiot Neo nazi wannabe's can spout their hate without ruining the country they helped destroy. Today or tomorrow in the middle east, there will eventually have to be the same catastrophic attack to get the attention of the idiots there that seek the annihilation of Israel. When the real war starts, there must be a final solution to the crisis. I dont mean killing all the civilians, but like in Dresden, there must be a breaking of wills. Nothing like a super firestorm to get peoples attention. The result of the refusal to do so will in the end destroy Israel as a country for the Jews. It's your country, will you let it be swept from the earth by liars, murderers and thieves? We didn't, nor did Britain. They are out to kill your nation. Shall you open the door for them? How afraid of Goldstone are you? Dresdenize Gaza,Lebanon, Syria, and Iran and they will leave you alone. You know its gonna be necessary to survive.

LEO ,   USA   (02.13.10)
I agree with everything you said,... problem is in todays, multi-cultural PC world, every side is equal,.... when in reality we all know it is not,... like in the article,.. what a Joke that the Neo-Nazi's are acting like they are the victims,... same with the Islamofascist's some how they are the lambs and the Jews are the wolves,.... Yeah, and Hitler was a Pacifist,...
3. With regard to the bombing of Dresden,
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.13.10)
one high ranking general involved said that it was a bad thing to have bombed Dresden, that we had crossed a threshold of morality but by far worse would have been to lose the war. William Tecumseh Sherman, in reply to those who accused him of immorality by burning his way through the south, said that it was far more compassionate to have ravaged the enemy in one fell swoop than to have destroyed the enemy in small indefinite steps over a protracted period of time. I think Harry S. Truman knew what he was doing when he made the fateful decision of bombing Nagasaki and Hiroshima, thereby saving hundreds of thousands of American lives fighting an enemy on their own home ground, an enemy which would never give up. And so with Israel, the mistakes we made were to stop at half measures in Gaza and in Lebanon. With Netanyahu and Lieberman, however, I don't think we will repeat those errors.

I thought I'd get killed in here by putting down the most terrible scenario on these talkbacks. Bob, you obviously have some history, and it was well applied in your response to the article. I know the horror the world feels when true, catastrophic , war ending decisions are made. Remember what the costs to the Soviets was! Stalingrad was worse than Dresden by far, By comparison, Hitler got off easy concerning terror bombing and general destruction, and a ruthless Nazi advance left no other choice for the Russians but to sacrifice a huge portion of its population. Without the reality of truly terrible consequences, the Islamofacists can laugh, dance, threaten and kill at their discretion. I pray for the nation of Israel, somebody is going to have to make the nation saving choice to end this ongoing game of death. Shalom Bob
5. 50%?
(02.14.10)
With thanks and appreciation for the stopping of this march the numbers are upsetting: 10,000 against and 5,000 for... Are the neo-Nazis that strong? 50% of the demonstrators were pro-Nazi? Frightening.
6. to #1 you wrong Britsh r the one who created both
ghostq   (02.14.10)
of the situations, including natzi Germany, they humilated the nation very badly, they helped the right wingers to gain power, they British r trying to do the same in Israel, blaming them for situation they created and that also includes the refugees camps, I hope that kingdom will go done cause it is rotten place, the pakistan India war is also their doing, Bloody nation. they make me sick.
7. to #4 get real the Russians asked for it

8. #5 100%
berlonski ,   berlin   (02.14.10)
Since when public demonstrations represent the average opinion of a population? When there were demonstrations against the war in Iraq in London and Rome, but no counter-manifestations - does that mean 100% of the Bristish and Italians were against this war? Two more numbers: The Nazi party NPD got in the last city elections of Dresden 3,7% (2009). In the last elections for the national german parliament (2009) they scored 1.5%.
9. #6 That's creative!
berlonski ,   berlin   (02.14.10)
Your very creative approach of blaming the Bristish for everything ... you know who takes this stance here in Germany? Exactly - these 5.000 neo-nazi deadheads that fortunately were humiliated yesterday in Dresden. Without the British and their fighting in WW II there would not be a democratic Germany today. And without the British who accepted an emancipated role of Jews in Palestine Israel never could have started to exist.
10. #5
Soeren ,   Cologne/Germany   (02.15.10)
10.000 anti-Nazi Alliance protestors from Dresden plus 5.000 neo-nazis from across Germany means 15.000 demonstrators in total, so one third were nazis.
11. Dresden
Gary Miller ,   West Palm Beach, USA   (02.16.10)
We should have NUKED Dresden.
12. about Dresden
Buhmann ,   Germany   (02.23.10)
- 512,234 people live in Dresden - 5000 Nazis demonstrate - only 10000 people from Dresden are agains them. sad
13. @ #11
misterhello ,   Berlin   (02.23.10)
People that like the idea of throwing a nuclear bomb at any city (no matter if it is a japanese, german, middle-eastern, american or whatever city) are not better than the nazis - ignorant, stupid and misanthropic. Maybe the decision of dropping the bomb over hiroshima was somehow understandable, but dropping the second one over nagasaki, knowing about the incredible amount of (innocent) casualties... a desaster and actually a war crime.
