1. :: Fayyad is correct
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (02.13.10)
Arab settlements and colonization of indigenous peoples lands in Israel, Middle East, North Africa and South Asia caused the ruin of all the economies of the respective countries and return to backwardness everywhere Arabs set foot
2. Also remove Westbank Pals from Israeli jobs.
Alan ,   SA   (02.13.10)
3. so he can have more Palestinians out of work
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (02.13.10)
and demand more money from the EU for them, and at the same time tell them that it's the settlers fault they have no work.
4. Why didn't Fayyad concern himself with
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.13.10)
banning Arabs from working on construction projects in Israeli villages in Samaria and Judea? Many Arabs make a good living this way. Can Fayyad replace work provided by Israelis with work provided by his own administration? Probably not.
5. #4 Because it's impossible for him to do so...
Nour ,   Palestine   (02.13.10)
He has no leverage at this time to do it. However, he's trying another approach.... You can't knoc on someone's door and ask them to stop making a living, especially if they lacked those essential requisites to be admissible into a profession. Beyond any doubt, the illegal settlements and their squatters have provided a large number of jobs to poorer Palestinians especially those without an education. Fayyad is no fool. He knows that criminalizing employment by settlers is like prematurely cutting an umbilical cord. Israel as the occupying power had historically denied (and sill denies) Palestinians the chance to industralize by having trade agreements, functional universities unhindered by cheeckpoints, etc. Rather, he is working, through the Palestine Investment Fund (the latest transparent, and centralized means of investment in Palestine's future) on the creation of jobs. Mega projects like Rawabi, Al-Reehan IT Park, and others, would lure those same Palestinians into higher paying jobs and a sense of national belonging - something which the settlements don't offer. Fayyad is a very calculating man who is about to commission another 1,000 national projects in the West Bank this year alone. I also happen to agree with him that the settlements' products are illegal and should be banned worldwide. Respect international law, or become a pariah state and face sanctions. As simple as that. What was good for the RSA is good for Israel.
6. I agree with Fayyad
David ,   Israel   (02.13.10)
Settlement products should be boycotted, those extremist settlers should learn that living on stolen land of another people doesn't pay.
7. Nour #5, thank you for your reasoned
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.13.10)
reply. Of course these economic activities must be completed in steps, so, I agree with you. Your reply was accurate as far as I;m concerned, at least on the economic front. The more economically independent are the "Palestinians", the more likelihood that a separate state can be formed. Ultimately, this will be of benefit to both parties. And it must be done organically in the way Fayyad is pursuing the matter and the way Netanyahu has suggested. Proclamations and declarations cannot and will not provide a road to success. And it will take time. I disagree with you regarding the term "occupied territories". We Jews have an ancient claim to Shomrun and Yehuda. We have as much of a claim to the Yishuvs as the 1,4 million Arabs do to residing in Israel. So what do you suggest about this situation? And do you agree to the proposal of Yisrael Beiteinu to move Arab sectors of Israel (the Triangle area) into a state called "Palastine" in exchange for land in the Westbank? Why or why not? If we are ever going to alleviate the sufferings of both Arabs and Jews, we are both going to have to make painful concessions, don't you agree?
8. HAMAS & FATAH MUST BE HAND IN HAND TO WORK ON THE ECONOMY !
ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (02.13.10)
9. #4 Because he is using Jewish rules
Carmen ,   NYC   (02.14.10)
Jewish Rule: Sell to the goy but never buy from a goy. So selling labor to Jews is fine, but buying from Jews isn't.
10. now lets play this silly game. ban all pal products.
ralph   (02.14.10)
11. we saw how they felt about settlement products in 2005
zionist forever   (02.14.10)
Remember the hot houses international charities paid millions to buy from the settlements so the palestinians but instead they destroyed them just like they are destroying all other settlement products now. The best strategy for the settlers would be to say if palestinians want to destroy our produce and encourage others not to buy then we will employ others and the palestinians can learn there are consequenses to Fayyeds actions and that means all those palestinians who are going to loose their jobs as a result know who to blame. Go on the offensive before actually firing anybody tell the palestinians as long as Fayyeds actions continue then the settlers will feel there is no option " for security reasons ' to fire the palestinians and get others to do the job.
12. UN selling settlement products
Dude ,   J'lem   (02.14.10)
in UN shop in UN's HQ in Jerusalem you can buy settlement products....
13. FAYAD IS NOT THROWING HIS CORRUPTION MONEY...
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (02.26.10)
HE DOES NOT THROW HIS CORRUPTION ACQUIRED MONEY INTO THE FIRE. THE ARAB PAL LEADERSHIP IS SO CORRUPT AND THEY CHEAT THEIR OWN PEOPLE AND THEN SAY THERE IS NOT ENOUGH MONEY FOR AVERAGE ARABS. THIS IN TURN PERPETUATES ARAB HOSTILITY. THE PAL ARAB LEADERSHIP IS GOOD AT BEING CORRUPT. CORRUPTION IS THEIR PAYCHEQUES.
