1. Safed chief Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu is talking nonsense
Avi ,   Israel   (02.17.10)
Safed chief Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu also participated in the panel and defined homosexuality as a disease. "There is a solution…it's not part of who you are" As a gay man i can tell you that is total nonsense and a false accusation. In the year 2010 it is a well known fact that you are either born hetrosexual or himosexual and nothing on this earth is going to change that. A hetrosexual cannot possibly understand what it is to be gay. This kind of false statement is a complete lie and and incitement to hatred.
2. Sitting Shiva for daughter
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (02.17.10)
My sister married a goy. My father and mother sat shiva (my mother doing it only as per father's wishes). My father didn't speak or acknowledge my sister thereafter - till he was dying. Then he wanted her attention - and she laughed at him. So parents, please remember, what YOU GIVE IS WHAT YOU GET.
3. Ultimate nonsense
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (02.17.10)
Back on 11.09.09 Avi claimed NOT to be homosexual: "Reply to # 2 there isnt a ghost of a chance Im gay, i love women my best friends are women and yes the mother of my children is a woman ! (ynet; Rabbi Yosef condemns Women of the Wall 11.09.09)
4. #1
bubba ,   nyc   (02.17.10)
It is a well known fact that in 2010 , science has shown that there is no such thing as a gay gene. Such a false statement is a complete lie and incitement to hatred.
5. Sitting shiva because some decides not to follow Halacha?
Ilan ,   Ariel   (02.17.10)
That seems out of character for Froman. People decide to do all sorts of foolishness and even worse, but no one sits shiva for that.
6. Vacuum
Lisa   (02.17.10)
Vacuum, what a perfect name for a program- the vacuum is in the rabbis head- how dare he talk about a human being like this- what a condescending horses ass. this woman's sexual orientation is none of his business. I pray that one of his children will be gay or lesbian- he will experience pain- I hope.
7. #2 Marrying outside the faith is a bummer
Al   (02.17.10)
disowning a kid who does so is insane. With marriage failure rates of approx 50%, chances are your sister will kick him to the curb and join the rest of us "once married".
8. Gays
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (02.17.10)
So, this self-described primitive implies that God made a mistake that needs mourning, Oh, wait! Lesbians and homosexuals can be cured, because they have a disease. Then again, maybe it's just a "dead-end reality." To top all of the above, the Torah says it's an abomination; at least, as it applies to guys. Did somebody like girl-on-girl action or did God not consider females even worth mentioning? Could it be that there are millions of human being, who, for no particular reason, but only because it makes their daily lives so much easier, get up one morning and decide to be 'different," because they just know that it'll thrill their families, and especially their parents, to no end? If gays can find the courage to come out of the proverbial closet, why can't religious leaders find the courage to admit that maybe, just maybe, God wired some people differently for reasons they can't figure out, stop the BS and help these people to deal with a mostly hostile world? At least, some future "authority" on God wouldn't have to make all those lame excuses, when. 20, 30 years from now, science will prove incontrovertibly that there are, indeed, people, who are wired differently than the majority.
9. 3 pakeed is making a list, checking it twice
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.17.10)
naughty avi's getting a lump of coal in his stocking from santa pakeed. that reminds me, i knew someone in elementary school who was the class tattle-tale, writing down and reporting to teachers everything the kids did. she had deep obsessive psychological problems and expressed severe anti-social behaviors. still does, from what i hear. not sure if she ever sought professional help, should have if she didn't. sad.
10. To #9
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (02.17.10)
Your tb just explained why the Santa I saw last December looked a little peculiar. He was wearing a kippah and prayer shawl, neither of which matched his red outfit. Since he was hanging out in the parking lot of the local Jews for Jesus synagogue, maybe it wasn't too strange. Hahahaha
11. DISEASE!!
(02.17.10)
Alcoholism a Disease. because you can be cured or work on. why even comment or asks Rabbis what they think? you think your going get the answer you want? but why even care? if you want your life to be like then. go do it stop trying to make that the rabbi give you a blessing for it.
12. 10 - did he say 'ho ho ho'?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.17.10)
if the person you saw did, it wasn't our raanana friend - this one has no sense of humor.
13. To #5 - Not really
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.17.10)
14. To #5 - Not really sitting shiva
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.17.10)
I know people use this term a lot to denote the disowning of one's own child, but it is never done literally, and this interesting looking dude doesn't mean it literally either. Not now and not in any time in the past or future can one get a minyan to come to their home in the morining and evening for seven days. They will not bring a spare sefer torah to read the portions on Monday and Thursday. They will not shuffle by reciting the standard condolence while the parent sits on a stool. And they will not remain in shul during any other part of the year when such a parent is reciting "the last kaddish" of the prayers - all the while knowing that they saw the child whom is being mourned at the supermarket that day. The concept is absolutely figurative. Where it real, you are right, it would be extreme. But it has never happened nor will it ever happen for real at least.
15. This guy is a crazy loon who kisses up to terrorists
avraham ,   nyc   (02.17.10)
16. I believe what Rabbi Froman meant to say
Israeli 2   (02.17.10)
Most talkbackers here are very uninformed or gays. Suggestion to you all: Read "The Pedophile Sham, Undermining the Torah Matrix" and find out how you have all been described. It is scary indeed.
17. Mourn for homosexual relatives because they are eternally
Rivkah   (02.17.10)
doomed unless they repent and forsake what is abominable to the Lord. We did not create ourselves. The Lord created us and His rules are what matter. Pray for homosexuals to be delivered from the demons that possess them and cause them to do what is loathesome to their Maker. Better for them to suffer the loss of a homosexual partner now and to grieve than to be cast into the lake of fire where sorrow never ends. If only the wicked could see what the Lord has shown me in visions of the singing and joy and celebration and music of heaven when one person repents and is saved eternally from the fires of hell. If only they could hear the music of heaven I have been able to hear by the Lord's direction of the jubilation and singing of another song for the soul of a dying saint. It is so beautiful and wonderful that the hope of being welcomed there one day by people who love you and always will, keeps me from many an error and sin.
18. Rabbi Froman
Judith ,   Israel   (02.17.10)
Rabbi Froman lives in a different universe. He has no right to tell a parent to sit shiva for a child who happens to be gay. Being gay is not a crime. Shame of Forman. He should know better.
19. Parents: love your children, differences and all.
David ,   Hartford USA   (02.17.10)
G-d made us the way we are. Period. Since G-d, by definition, can't make a mistake, gays and lesbians are as fully Jewish as anyone else. Disown your child for marrying out or for being gay? Are you crazy? Don't be a child having a tantrum because life isn't what you expected. Grow up, be nice, be accepting, and love your children. Now go make up.
20. To #12
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (02.17.10)
Actually, it sounded more like oy vey, vey, vey.....
21. sexuality is not a sin its how you act that matters
zionist forever   (02.17.10)
There is nothing wrong with being homosexual and being attracted to members of the same sex your just not supposed to act on those urges. Same way straight people are not supposed to have sex with somebody before they are married homosexuals should not have sex but their sexual attraction cannot be changed. With this woman in the story, her parents should not sit shiva for her. They have no obligation to make her lesbian partner feel welcome or invite her over for Shabbat but their daughter is still very much alive and the parents should appreciate that fact ands acknowladge her. There are some people who can't have children and would welcome a lesbian for a daughter if it was a choice between that and having no children at all. One of my good friends has been disabled since he was a child and cannot have children and he would love to have a child homosexual or not. Accept the child for what she is, maybe even try and get her to give up the lesbian lifestyle but at the end of the day she is still their child.
22. if I have a disease...
Israeli gay   (02.17.10)
can I call in gay for work? If I chose to be gay, can I next choose to be left handed? If I am an abomination, aren't also those who eat seafood and women who wear jeans? No one ever seems to coment on that. Amazing how so many hetros think they know everything about us because they read it somewhere. And if you are asking why Ynet covers gay issues so often lately, it is because of comments like Froman's and others who have no idea what they are talking about.
23. Rivkah #17 - apparently there's a mistake with you!
David ,   Los Angeles   (02.17.10)
"If only the wicked could see what the Lord has shown me in visions" Oh really.
24. Which is the greater sin?
Jew   (02.18.10)
Being gay or marrying a non-Jew?
25. To #17
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (02.18.10)
What kind of singing do you hear? Is it rock, hip-hop, easy listening, opera, rap, country or some sort of yodeling. I have to know, because if I get there and it's anything but rock, I know I'm in hell. Oh, and what's the language of all that jubilation? That, too, is important. There's nothing worse to my ears than, let's say, Bon Jovi, My Chemical Romance, or The Pixies in German. Oh, Elvis is out, too. Since I'm obviously picky about my jubilations, do you think I can bring my own mp3 player or request instrumentals only? Please, no Kenny G or Lawrence Welk. Damn'! Here I was prepared to just head for my designated place and now I have to worry about all that jubilating.
26. to 19
Denise ,   Shawano, Wisconsin   (02.18.10)
So G-D made Pedafiles, rapist and murders too? When we are born and placed in our moms arms only G_d knows our future choices. Some of them make him happy and some make him very sad. G_d said what sin is and since he is the righteous judge, why not let him do his job? It is our job to Hate sin but love the sinner. Pray for repentent hearts and changed lives.
27. # 3 , 4 More false accusations

28. To #24
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (02.18.10)
According so some people, marrying a gay Jew would be just as bad. But if I had to marry somebody, can I check out the Jew and the Goy before deciding?
29. Somebody needs to sit shiva for Froman....
AJ ,   Washington, DC   (02.18.10)
He looks like a cadaver!
