jews, not askenazis jews who see it as abomanation, this phenomena also existed in the USA, for example the famous Poet and writer Edgar Ellan Poe did married his cousin. mmm and he wasn't religious. so put things in the right perspective. there is one mystery scientists doesn't know how to explain(r you ready? here it is) y jews have most pair of twins in the world, even in the bible Israel had unidentical twin, and it's true, they got alot pairs of twins by natural birth.
4. I find it so ironic that this technological

issue is accepted while electricity on shabath isn't, y some technologies r ok and this one isn't, just curious about this issue, today electrical appliences prevent people from over working hard, and by not using them you work twice as hard like going by foot or driving a car, it really puzzle me.
5. #4 I agree with you on that one ....

judaism has to get with the modern times ....

The world contains many possible viewpoints. A child's view point of how lights produce light does not suddenly change the laws of nature. Why do you expect anything different from religious law? If you wanted to open a Torah you would learn many common technologies which have been around for thousands of years are prohibited and many others are permitted and encourage. Try studying about it . Knowledge has only harmed few people but for most people it has granted them life.

"Knowledge has only harmed few people but for most people it has granted them life. " Ahahahah! Tell that to Adam and Eve. the wrong kind of inromation can really mess you up. Ask a crazy Kabbalist. The curses are very clear on what types of information you should avoid. Devarim 4:2 Devarim 13 Devarim 18

Throughout our history, intermarriage opponents DID get their way. Intermarriage was almost unheard of until the 20th century. This article fails to mention that there is a much bigger reason why "jewish" diseases like Tay-Sachs are disappearing. Today, Jews tend to live in large diverse communities. The days when two Jews getting married were likely to trace their ancestors back to the same village in Poland are over. Today, a Jewish marriage between a Moroccan and a Ukranian is far more common. This couple is far less likely to be carriers of the same disease.
9. to #6 jewish religious rules should be updated
ghostq   (02.22.10)
electricity exist in the human body and work 24/7 something that determined your heart rate without it you will be dead. it is foolish to asume that electricity doesn't work on shabath. cause it does in every living form on earth. that is how god's likes it. and not using electricity on shabath is foolish.
10. 8 - hello??
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.22.10)
have you ever seen the moroccan or ukranian jewish communities? they are so completely different, physically (not to mention also those ethipoian, yemini, and indian jews). there was some massive intermarriage along the way in those communities. to claim that this is mostly recent is incredible.

It's not the electricity. It has to do with changing the status of something -- think of perpetual motion machines. That's why "Shabbat Elevators" are kosher -- they are in constant motion.
12. to #8 you r optimistic but now both sides can carrie
ghostq   (02.22.10)
both genetic diseases. now since both europ and spared jews r marring each other you can see people from yemen who suffer from Ashkenazi genetic problem, and visa versa. which is weird condidering people will have to report their family origin just to prevent those things. but on the bright side the chanses for that to happened r getting smaller, with genetic is like winning the lottery you can never know which one is which. and when bad geane start to be active when.
13. To BOTH #8 and #1/#10
jesszahav ,   Toronto, Canada   (02.23.10)
Just to settle your misunderstanding: #1 is talking about intermarriage between Jews and non-Jews, regardless of 'racial' identity. #8 is talking about Jews of two different ethnic backgrounds (e.g., Yemeni and Moroccan) marrying eachother. #1 uses 'intermarriage' in the sense of two different religion, #8 in the sense of same religion, different races.
14. #13 - well, don't forget

Every hetrosexual marriage is an intermarriage!
