3. ONLY HILLARY DOES THE TALKING
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (02.17.10)
By stating and talking on behalf of the countries she visited. Not a single Arab leader's statement can be read in the above article. This may be her last trip to the Middle East as substantial military equipment orders have been negotiated with the Arabs.Business as usual nothing else.Or is there?
4. Saudi FM al-Faisal doubts Iran sanctions plans
Norway   (02.18.10)
Imposing more sanctions on Iran over its nuclear programme would not be a quick enough solution, Saudi Arabia's FM has said. Prince Saud al-Faisal said the threat posed by Iran demanded a "more immediate solution " than sanctions. "Sanctions are a long-term solution. They may work, we can't judge. "But we see the issue in the shorter term maybe because we are closer to the threat... So we need an immediate resolution rather than a gradual resolution. " China, a top importer of Saudi oil, is against imposing more sanctions, because Beijing fears a major loss of revenue from investments in Iran, and disruption of oil supplies from a country providing it with 400,000 barrels a day, The Saudi FM added that efforts to rid the Middle East of nuclear weapons must also apply to Israel. (BBC, 16 Feb. 2010). What about Pakistan, India, Turkey and the nuclear ambitions of others? Israel must not fall into the trap that the Saudis and Americans are setting for it. Let the Saudis themselves do the dirty job! Read this: Iran to Surge to a Hegemonic Position in the Middle East Without a Major War http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2420267/posts And watch this very good comment Israel, under the article, and I quote: "Iran has been too much of a pain in the rear for the Arab leaders and too much of a threat to control of regional oil routes, plus the age-old Sunni-Shi’ite/Arab-Persian rivalry. Of course, the Arabs hate Israel just as much as they hate Iran. Which is why they want Israel to strike Iran’s nuke facilities—that way Israel gets all the retaliation from Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syria and Iran loses its key to regional hegemony. It’s a win-win for the Arabs. That’s why FM Saud al-Faisal has been lobbying behind the scenes in DC to get the US to support an Israeli strike on Iran. That’s why the Saudis gave permission to Israel to use their airspace." Watch out! This is a crucial moment in Israel's history. Her enemies gather like ravening wolves circling their prey, driven by an insatiable appetite for oil, wealth and political power in the Mid East.
5. Russia warns US against attacking Iran...
Norway   (02.18.10)
The chief of Russia's General Staff, Nikolai Makarov, has warned the US against striking Iran over the country's nuclear program. "The consequences, I believe, would be dreadful for Iran, as well as Russia, the entire Asia-Pacific community," Makarov said on Wednesday. The Russian military chief further suggested that the United States might turn its military attention on the Islamic Republic once its operations in Iraq and Afghanistan have been completed. (PressTV, Wed, 17 Feb 2010). Russia Helps Iran Get Nukes—Billions of Dollars to Gain No serious observer doubts that Iran is frantically working to obtain nuclear weapons to use against Israel. The question has been why the world has not responded to this grave threat to peace, not just in the Middle East but for the entire globe. Crippling economic sanctions could have been put in place that would have forced Iran to stop its evil work. Though Iran is an oil producing state, it does not have enough capacity to meet internal needs. It actually has to import refined gasoline and other petroleum products. But these simple steps have not been taken. The Chinese and especially the Russians have rejected any serious sanctions. They are keeping Iran's economy afloat and helping its nuclear program because they see dollar ($_$) signs. Russia wants Iran to finish its nuclear program because it believes it will trigger a massive arms race. This represents billions of dollars for the struggling Russian economy. It is one of the few nations willing to export nuclear technology, and Russia knows the Arab states in the Gulf will have to match Iran's program for self-defense. Russia certainly does not care what happens to Israel. (Dr. Mike Evans). The world community is either turning a blind eye to the threat or actively helping Iran acquire WMD, since all their nuclear progress and technological advance during all these years, has taken place under the supervision of the IAEA and the UN watchdog.
6. "Time to clarify intentions"???
Joe ,   Canada   (02.18.10)
Iran has clarified repeatedly its intentions for the last 5 years in words & in deeds. The State Department must send its staff to a refresher course in semantics & geopolitics if it still needs clarifications.
7. To Norway
AR ,   USA   (02.18.10)
While i agree that the russians would be happy to see a regional arms race, they have to be very careful with respect to iran because of their own border with iran and many former soviet states and current russian provinces that have iranian ties. they wouldnt want to see the technology they are sending to iran end up in the hands of georgians etc etc. anyways i dont think iran will use their nuke if they ever build one against israel. I dont think any serious person believes that either. the israeli public is being influenced by arms dealers and neo cons and oil tycoons to believe their is a threat from iran that has to be dealt with. All evidence shows that Iran wants nuclear technology for fuel (like they did when the US supported the shah's nuclear power dreams) and now as protection (weapons) from hostile nuclear powers such as Israel, US, Pakistan (funded by saudi's) Dont forget that russia and china are both nuclear powers in the region and that the british and french both nuclear powers are in the region. After the revolution the whole world sided with a madman named saddam hussein against iran so i can see why they would want a nuke to assure the world dosnt try to destroy them again. (yes most of irans problems come as a result of their own crappy leaders) You dont really understand that under the IAEA Iran is allowed to build a nuclear program. "It is one of the few nations willing to export nuclear technology" yeah According to the NPT members who have nuclear technology are supposed to share it so other nations wont be enticed to build their own nuclear programs. DUH
8. Hillary should return home
Brod ,   USA   (02.18.10)
Hillary should stay home instead of traveling to Islamist-Jihadist countries and listening to their Taqiyya (deceit). She seems so naive about Islamist-Jihadism. Why should she be spending time in the Wahhabhist kingdom, whose thugs attacked America and murdered 3000 Americans in cold blood on 9/11, and is the Chief Sponsor of Islamist-Jihadism/Terrorism around the world? It is time for America to stay out of the Islamist-Jihadist countries and be energy independent. It is time for America to stop importing oil from the Islamist-Jihadist states in the Middle East.
9. White House links Iran nukes to Palestinian state
Norway   (02.18.10)
President Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, warned Israel that their “moment of truth” had arrived. Israel must accept Emanuel’s Two State Solution demand with Palestine or forfeit U.S. help in dismantling Iran’s nuclear program. Ynet quoted Emanuel as insisting that the ability to confront Iran and reach a diplomatic solution over its defiant nuclear program was solely dependent on progress toward the birth of “Palestine. Emanuel said, Israel now faces a moment of truth – it can either acquiesce to international demands and in return have its most serious threats dealt with, or maintain the status quo and have those threats persist. http://www.israeltoday.co.il/default.aspx?tabid=178&nid=18709 Report: Obama leverages Iran to extract Israeli concessions US President Barack Obama has more or less officially offered Israel firm pressure on Iran to halt its nuclear program if Israel agrees to stop building homes for Jews in areas claimed by the Palestinian Arabs. Obama would put heavy diplomatic pressure on Iran and possibly even impose new sanctions if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu halted most current construction projects and refused to approve any new ones in Judea, Samaria and the eastern half of Jerusalem. Obama appears to not see Iran's nuclear program as a threat to US security, and so feels free to use it as a bargaining chip to obtain concessions from Israel. http://www.israeltoday.co.il/default.aspx?tabid=178&nid=19453 Jordan's king Abdullah said that the US administration seems to be focusing more of its attention on Iran and less on resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, saying time was running out to make peace. (Jerusalem Post, Oct 19, 2009). Aboul Gheit, the Egyptian Minister, alluding to Israeli suggestions that the Iranian nuclear program is the region's major problem, said he and Clinton discussed Iran but that the Palestinian question is the core issue and that continued inaction on it would pose dangers beyond the Middle East. "In the absence of such negotiations, and success of the negotiations and seeing the emergence of Palestinian state living side-by-side with Israel, then I think situation will worsen in this part of the world and we will be, all of us, not only people in the region but countries in the region but also the United States and the Western world as well as the world at large-we will be all witnessing a very difficult situation, " he said. http://jerusalem.usconsulate.gov/remarks052709.html Reports says that if Israel attack Iran - Iran's response will be directed against US. Hezbollah and Hamas suicide bombers will strike inside civilian targets—schools, shopping malls, hospitals—inside the borders of the United States. Intelligence experts believe that dozens if not hundreds of these "sleeper agents" are already in place. When they attack, they will blame it on America's so-called "support" of Israel. It may be that the nations are furious with Israel (as we see today in practically every international forum), but God promises that in the end, "all those who were incensed with you shall be ashamed and confounded" (Isaiah 41:11).
10. In January of 2009, Saudi officials warned that...
Norway   (02.18.10)
the U.S. would need to “drastically revise” its Middle East policy, particularly towards Israel, if it wanted to maintain influence in the region. "If the U.S. wants to continue playing a leadership role in the Middle East and keep its strategic alliances intact – especially its 'special relationship' with Saudi Arabia – - it will have to drastically revise its policies vis-a-vis Israel and Palestine,” former Saudi ambassador Prince Turki al-Faisal said at the time. Turki referred to the Middle East policy of former U.S. President George Bush as “sickening,” and accused America of “contributing to the slaughter of innocents” by supporting Israel. Obama Bows to Saudi King, Supports Saudi Initiative http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/130746 Robert Gates: Building diplomacy with Iran "will not be at the expense of our long-term relationships with Saudi Arabia and the other Gulf states that have been our partners and friends for decades," (AP, 04/0509). Ahmadinejad: Zionist regime will be uprooted The Iranian president called for a referendum in 'Palestine' and said that if Israel "doesn't accept this humane solution, the might of nations will bury them underground and bring about justice." He also affirmed his intent to continue the nuclear program, saying that "Iran will stay unified until it achieves all the rights it deserves." http://www.ynet.co.il/english/articles/0,7340,L-3710005,00.html Ahmadinejad said: "One day they said we cannot enrich uranium, but with the resistance of our leader, nation... and with the help of God, the Iranian nation has become nuclear, " "They (Americans) want to dominate our region but the Iranian people will never let them do that,.. " (Ahmadinejad's 'nuclear' Iran set for new sanctions, by Hiedeh Farmani).
11. Israeli Concessions Will Not Soften Iran,
Norway   (02.18.10)
They Will Have the Opposite Effect - There are people who believe that the way to deal with Iran is by solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The widespread conception is that the way to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is by Israeli withdrawals. I believe that this whole idea is wrong at its core. If you solve the Israel-Palestinian conflict, it will not stop or even soften the Islamic jihadists. The Islamic revolution did not erupt because of us. Al-Qaeda was not created because of us and even Hizbullah did not rise up because of us. The Muslim Brotherhood was also established without connection to us. It was established in 1928 when there wasn't a State of Israel. It was not even a response to Zionism. Therefore, this whole connection is completely superficial. In addition, the attempt over the last 16 years to solve the conflict with territorial concessions has been proven wrong, since the conflict is not just territorial and over the definition of the borders and size of Israel but rather is about our right to exist. After Israel left Lebanon, Hizbullah grew stronger. The same happened following the Gaza withdrawal, when we were told that we would achieve quiet since we would neutralize the Palestinians' raison d'etre. Instead, we got a stronger Hamas and a Hamastan in Gaza. When you withdraw and surrender to the Islamic jihadists, you are essentially providing them with a victory. Therefore, anyone who thinks that Israeli concessions and withdrawals will solve the conflict and will soften the Iranians' position is wrong. It will have the opposite effect. (Interview with Minister for Strategic Affairs Lt.-Gen. (ret.) Moshe Yaalon (Jerusalem Post, May, 2009).
12. No to Iran’s nuclear program.
Ron B. ,   Lod   (02.18.10)
In order to put an end to Iran’s nuclear program, the U.S.A. has to close the door to investment in the Iran oil sector, loans to the government from the World Bank and from corporations around the world. Only then, it will be possible to negotiate with strength. There is a rumor that the United States is already doing all it can [on Iran] – it is not true. The United States does’nt put sufficient economic pressure on Iran. In the economic area they have been very unwilling to take the steps that have to be taken. Iran is still collecting the physical material needed for nuclear weapons. Iran is using the development of civilian energy infrastructure to assist its nuclear program. If Iran will have the bomb, it will not hesitate to use its nuclear power against the West. In order to have an idea about the possibilities of Iran, lets have a look at Damietta : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2009/11/shipped-in-plain-sight.html
13. focus on 'trying' to change Iranian behaviour?
tiki ,   belgium   (02.18.10)
Trying to change a wolf into a sheep is the same stupid remark. How 'blessed is the West with this useless US foreign minister?
