2. heritage sites
allan ,   canada   (02.23.10)
It sounds as if the UN special coordinator is very biased. When did Israel give up sovereignty of Hevron and Bethlehem? And why is it so bad to try and protect these sites for all religions? The Israelis have done a much better job of protecting all religious sites than thosae who managed them before Israel had them.
3. Heritage
Yosi   (02.23.10)
Well Muslims declared the heritages of christianity and judaism as its own heritage, and decided to build mosques on and around them..Why do they get mad when the same thing is done by the other party?
4. More Pal attempts at cultural genocide
JPS ,   Efrat   (02.23.10)
You should listen to the Pals talk about how there never was a Jewish temple in Jerusalem. The Palestinian goal is not just the eradication of the Jews from the country, but the re-writing of history to wipe out any factual evidence of a Jewish presence at all over the past 3000 years. Serry shows that the UN is indeed racist, otherwise they would never oppose declaring a site a national heritage site. Heritage sites exist all over the world in just about every country. Yet, if there is a Jewish heritage site the politically incorrect Israel-haters will make an issue out of it. Sorry, dudes, but the Cave of the Patriarchs is indeed a site worthy of being declared a heritage site. No, this does not mean that Muslims will be banned from the site. It does show, however, what racist hatred is out there with our "partners" the Palestinians, who show us again and again that they do not want to live in peace.
5. Actions Speak Louder Than Words
emanon ,   USA   (02.23.10)
Look at the actions of the people living there and the real owners of this land becomes obvious. On the one side, you have the Jews. They have built up the land they have owned and lived in for almost forever. On the other side, you have a group of . . . I don;t know what to call them . . . throwing stones and setting fires. Do you burn your own house down? No! You build it and repair it because you have pride of ownership. It is obvious who the real owners of the land are.
6. How about Palestinians naming Palestinian Heritage sites
Observer ,   U.S.A.   (02.23.10)
Inside Israel.
7. #6 they already do
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (02.23.10)
There are many heritage sites to the native peoples of Israel, such as the Jews, Druze, Christians and Bedouins. As for the "Palestinians", the problem is that there is no such thing as Palestinian Heritage. Most of the Arabs who call themselves Palestinians are recent immigrants who were imported to Israel by the British colonial occupier in the 1920s, '30s and '40s. That said, the Arabs already call Jewish villages they illegally occupy "Palestinian", for example they call Shiloah "Silwan", Beitar "Batir", Bet Horon "Ur a Tachta" and for Shchem they use the Roman name "Nablus". Surprising as it may seem, they even claim the Temple Mount to be Palestinian.
8. Heritage List, another blow at the 2-State Fallacy
Nour ,   Palestine   (02.23.10)
This move (the attack on the Palestinian State) by declaring locations deep in the West Bank as Israeli Heritage Site is clearly meant as a political provocation and an appeasement to the settlers. With every passing day Israel demonstrates it is itching for an imposed one-state solution, while Israeli jews (mainly seculars) sleep on without realizing the fait-accompli the settlers have imposed on the so-called Jewish State in Palestine. Settlers, it was wonderful doing business with you. One step closer towards achieving the Right of Return and declaration of Arab Heritage Sites in Acre, Nazareth, Haifa, Ramle, etc.
9. #7 is consummed by jealousy!
Nour ,   Palestine   (02.23.10)
You cannot come to accept the reality that we've been here for centuries and millenia, with Canaanite, Phoenecian, Israelite, Arab, and Crusader geneology proving our eternal and sustained link to the land, while you're a squatter who immigrated to the area after 1936 and has the nerve to call us invaders? You're just funny, too funny! Go and convince Nazareth or Haifa dwellers that they came from Syria! You're a comical idiot consumed by jealousy.
10. To Nour
PW ,   Virginia USA   (02.23.10)
Nour...your fact based illiteracy can be corrected...check out official census records for the period and you will see in black and white that the population growth of Arabs to the Mandate was from immigration...read further from eye witness accounts for the 40 years previous and you will see that the land was unpopulated except for a few filthy villages and a Jewish majority in Jerusalem...Making up history will only appeal to the leftists and the ignorant...
11. Serry should refer to past precedents on PA protection
William ,   Israel   (02.23.10)
of holy sites. There is a very real danger to Jews should the PA get a hold of the Cave in Hebron. They have already announced that Jews should be removed from the city, despite the illegal ethnic cleansing from 1920-1948 which absolutely should be reversed. The PA destroyed Joseph's Tomb and would bar Jews from the Cave in Hebron, just as the Turks did when they forced Jews behind a barrier far away, in order to show Jews as subservient to the supremacy of Islam. This must never happen again, and Israel is fully in its right to make the claim on behalf of the entire Jewish nation. Nevermind that this land is "disputed" not "occupied". Don't make up facts, UN.
12. #9 - So Turkish and British records are...wrong?
William ,   Israel   (02.23.10)
Turkish records show an extensive jewish population in the region for centuries, and every day, another archeological find proves it. Turkish records also show limited private land ownership, and British records not only cite illegal Arab migration during the 1930s but a census showed 20 different languages spoken by Arabs, including Bosnian. You don't get that by being a native in a land for centuries. NIce try. But DNA tests performed back in the 1980s by academics show today's "pals" are no more related to Pheonician and Crusaders than they are to Mexicans and Chinese. You're Arabs, plain and simple. No special heritage, no special language, no special skills (except new terrorist tactics, which you are proud of).
13. #12 u're a fake people, in a fake state
(02.24.10)
sooner or later the arab/muslim/christian rule will be restored in palestine, and squatting immigrants like you will be evicted. Nice try.
