32. goldstone
sas ,   israel   (02.25.10)
A GREAT QUESTION THAT NO ONE WILL ASK/ANSWER. GOLDTOSNE HATES ISRAEL. HE IS A 2 FACED JEW THAT SHOULD HAVE KEPT QUIET. THE DAMAGE THAT HE HAS CAUSED US IS UNREAL. I HOPE HE AND HIS FAMILY HERE SUFFERS FOR THE REST OF THIER LIVES. THE MAN IS CORRUPT. DISHONEST AND ONE SIDED. HOW HE BECAME A JUDGE IS NOT VERY CLEAR. PEOPLE LIKE HIM CAUSE US MORE DANGER.
33. Where is Goldstone now ???
Flori Cohen ,   Modiin, Israel   (02.25.10)
I concur with Eitan Haber. He has voiced my thoughts and feelings explicitly -- it is indeed so very sad that innocent people, women and a child were killed in Afghanistan --- what is even more sad is that there is no outcry from the world - the world is indeed hypocrytical? Goldstone where are you now?
34. good artikle and true, a family of 12
ghostq   (02.25.10)
was killed by accidents by Nato, none cares and none make nois. show the real face of Goldstone, and the Arab world, I think Israel seriously consider him as personanongrata and bann him from her community.
35. matty you mean none payed him to do any reaport.
ghostq   (02.25.10)
the key word is payed :) see how simple fact show he is just corrupt judge, and he did most of his career on the back of africans and put them in jail. I believe in karma it looks like soon he will be the one to be on the defendent stand soon. :)
36. to #30 who started the war, I will give you hint
ghostq   (02.25.10)
10 years of rockets, before 2007 there was no blockad what was the excuss than, I remember when I srael decided to withdraw by her initiative it took palis only one week to start the Fatah hamas clashes, do you find any excuss to that? or you conviniently ignor the violnt that palis use very often even on themselves.
37. Because Goldstone Rpt was never about helping Gazans
Zvi   (02.25.10)
It was a political attack on Israel, pure and simple. Israel is not fighting in Afghanistan, or the Congo, or Sri Lanka, or Yemen, or Swat Valley (Pakistan), or Sudan, so the UN, the OIC, the Arab League and the rest of the world could not care less how many Muslims get butchered or accidentally killed in these places.
38. You typed the best sentence of the month, #24
Cameron ,   USA   (02.25.10)
"Monaco is more densely populated, and they have no urge to blow themselves up." That struck me as such a funk statement, that it can stand all by itself alone.
39. I have a suggestion for the author!
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.25.10)
If the situation is so bad in Israel, Mr. Haber Can the author come to Gaza to live here one hour only one hour and I guarantee him that there thousands of Palestinians who accept to return to Sderot and the Negev under fire Qassam rockets you accept?!!! NOTE: mistake + mistake = TWO mistakes
40. Where is Goldstone now?
Rob ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (02.25.10)
There is absolutely no question that some of the world media (and public) particularly in the UK are obsessed with Israel. Israel is duty-bound to employ PROFESSIONAL locally-based public relations firms in the the major Western countries. Israeli government initiatives have totally failed and the momentum building up against Israel must be reversed NOW before the ramifications become irreversible.

Is this Matty Groves, the self-proclaimed Jew-Hater?!! Since your addmission, Why would anyone consider that your posts might be fair and balanced?
42. to #39 hahaha even Fatah isn't in gaza
ghostq   (02.25.10)
y do you think Israeli will go there, besides you kidnapped one Israeli you want another one? hahahaha so much for logic.
43. There is a difference
Swaminathan ,   Kerala, India   (02.25.10)
US and NATO went to a war that was justified in the eyes of many level headed persons. Israel attacked a people whose lands were taken away from them. The Palestinians are fighting a legitimate fight to win back their land.
44. Censorship and impostors made my wife and I double our...
BBSNews ,   Charlotte, NC   (02.25.10)
...efforts to contact legislators, major American newspapers, and every other organization interested in peace to ensure that Israel's rogue state status is well and completely known. And it ALWAYS pays off, keep those cards and letters coming folks! Israel and its "supporters" are digging themselves a massive hole that will be very hard to get out from. Ynet letting impostors through and censoring real posts by people who actually care about peace is counter-productive. That's okay though. Americans are fed up with little Israel moving the world towards WWIII. A tipping point is very close to being reached. And we will write ten letters instead of five each day along with thousands of others until the military funding and aid to Israel is completely removed from your little censorious rogue country. For years reasonableness has not sunk in to Israel. Why do you inspire such vile people as the impostors and the ethnic cleansers and Arab-haters? Gather them to your breast. It's all you've got left.

46. Matty #14
Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte, USA   (02.25.10)
“Remember the public outrage [about Fallujah]? Remember the wall to wall coverage the media gave this story? Remember the condemnation about the US using white phosphorus and the approx 800 civilians that were killed in the attack?” Well, Matty, what I do not seem to remember is a formal U.N. inquiry into the matter. I also do not remember warrants issued for U.S. officials (as compared with such warrants that were issued for Israeli officials in the UK.} Perhaps you can refresh my memory? Did these events transpire? Day after day, moral and intellectual lightweights like Matty and BBSNEWS attempt (in a pathetic and obsessive-compulsive manner) to pound away at Israel. Meanwhile, Israel has neighbors that often force women to undergo circumcisions. Another one of Israel’s neighbors does allow women to drive. This same neighbor does not even have a pretense of freedom of religion. Do we hear Matty and BBSNEWS complain about this? No, they reserve their criticisms (at least those that I have seen) for Israel, which they think is Satan. Day after day, Matty and BBSNEWS speak of Israel’s horrific violations of international law (as if the current interpretations and enforcement of international law were even remotely related to moral law.) Always missing from their ‘analysis’ is any kind of a comparative study. Meanwhile, China sits on the U.N. Security Council as that nation continues to rape Tibet. But we do not hear Matty and BBSNEWS raise their voice about this, do we? We also do not hear them raise concerns that many, many of the U.N.’s members are led by brutal dictatorships that make Israel look like the Garden of Eden. Also, the Goldstone Report is the gospel for Matty and BBSNEWS. They never even consider the fact that Palestinian witnesses have not exactly proved to be reliable. (Remember the Jenin ‘massacre’ of 2002 that completely proved to be a fabrication?) I am confident that the Goldstone Report will go down in history as thoroughly biased and incorrect. Comparisons with France’s Dreyfus affair come to mind. Also, the U.N. is not only unfortunately fundamentally flawed (as was its predecessor the League of Nations), it is largely sinister, as it reflects the values of the many dictatorships that comprise it. It will also enter the dustbin of history, hopefully to be replaced by a federation of democracies. People like Matty and BBSNEWS will not stop the voices of those who support true morality and freedom. Believe it or not, the Jewish People will out-survive them and their evil values.
47. Where is Goldstone Now?
Marty Mensch ,   Ocean, NJ USA   (02.25.10)
Alan Dershowitz tells a story that a Jewish student at Harvard University was expelled from school because he was caught cheating, by the President of the University. Dershowitz defends the student by telling the President but, Gentile students cheat and they do not get expelled. The President replies we are not talking about Gentile students.
48. where is goldstone
debbie ,   israel   (02.25.10)
TO MATTY GROVES Thanks so much for your, as usual, ignorant, non-sensical, bitter, hateful talkback. Stop whining and crying about Israel already, and go check out what's going on in Congo, Darfur, Sudan, Somalia, Sri Lanka,Sierra Lione, and many many other places where whole villages are being maimed, raped, massacred and taken into slavery. We're all sick and tired of you constantly singling out Israel, bashing the IDF, and not giving a rat's _ _ _ ass how many thousands of people are murdered elsewhere. As long as you can bash Israel. Everyone talkbacker recognizes you as the spiteful, ugly Jew-hater that you are. Give it a rest already.
49. For Jason with his "Ph.D"
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (02.25.10)
I continually wonder what Ph.D stands for in your writing? A doctorate in Hasbara? Falluhjah was first described in the US media as a 'glorious victory'. The media glorified the 'battle'. They spoke about creating a new verse to the Marine hymn commemorating the victory and even trotted out Harrison Ford talking about making a movie, sort of a 'Sands of Iwo Jima' set in in the sands of Iraq. Later, of course, the Americans learned that there was no glory, only death and destruction of mainly civilians and the 'glorious victory' soon lost its luster. Your problem, Jason, lies in not recognizing that most 'battles' fought by militaries quickly devolve into the messy, deadly, war against civilians endemic to the idea of 'war' in the 21st century. Yet, Israel takes the idea of 'war' against civilians further than most countries. It explicitly claims the right to use military force against civilians as a primary tactic. Gaza was, and is, a prime example. Fourteen hundred Gazans were killed in a two week military operation which had the explicit tactical idea of terrorizing the civilian population so that they would somehow rein in Hamas. Israel did the same thing in Lebanon, bombing bridges, power stations, even ambulances with one object in mind: Terrorizing the civilian population so they would somehow rein in Hezbollah. This is not warfare, it is explicit state terrorism. Goldstone wrote a report showing the disproportionate use of force, by the IDF, against the civilian population of Gaza. Even he did not claim his report to be evidence in a court of law, instead he wrote what would be in fact a 'grand jury' report. Sufficient for an indictment but not necessarily a conviction in and of itself. And then he, and the UN, invited real, reputable investigations to determine whether or not sufficient evidence existed and what punishment sanctions should ensue if such investigations warranted. Israel, does not want such an investigation because it rightly fears what would be uncovered. So, instead of examining the report carefully and appointing a reputable investigatory body to determine the reality of such an indictment, it instead attacks the preliminary investigator as somehow: 1) a self-hating Jew, 2) anisemitic in his very nature or 3) guilty of a 'shoddy' investigation. The message and facts behind the indictment are somehow unworthy of belief. Why? Because the messenger is somehow unworthy. And if you ask why Israel does not mount an credible investigation, you are labeled as an antisemitic critic of Israel's very existence. Most of the zionist apologists use the same tactic, deride the messenger in the hope the message itself, the facts themselves, will somehow not be believed. This is pure intellectual and moral dishonesty. Unfortunately, Jason, this is a charge of which you seem acknowlege your guilt. And if your doctorate is for some other field of study except willful propaganda and distortion, I suggest you give it back.
50. Mr. Haber, don't you read the news?
berlonski ,   berlin   (02.25.10)
Mr. Haber's assumption that the (western) world goes blind regarding the killing of Aghan civilians is simply not true. The Dutch government crashed last week because of a political fight about the military engagement in Afghanistan. The German defense minister and the Chief General of Staff had to step down lately because of an attack that killed civilians. Obviously there are Goldstones who feel responsible for Afghanistan, pressuring NATO governments. And obviously there are NATO politicians who are able to take consequences. Ignoring this, Mr. Haber's article is just hot air.
51. berlonski #50
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (02.25.10)
There are huge differences. First off the number of civilians to combatants killed is about 10 to 1. Whereas even if you took the most extreme claims in Gaza of 3 to 1 when reality it was about 1 to 3 which is the LOWEST civilian to combatant ratio in the history of modern warfare. Second where are the cries of war-crimes? Any at all? All the demands that your political leader be held for trial? No - why not? Goldstone was a perversion of international law. He created non-existent laws, misstated existing ones and totally ignored minor issues like facts.
52. observer where are you talkback ?
hans ,   stuttgart germany   (02.25.10)
53. Dear Mikesailor: I invite you and all other
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.25.10)
posters who believe that Richard Goldstone and his committee were fairminded judges to consider the following: 1) Richard Goldstone originally accepted, as his mandate, to investigate Israel for its war crimes. Only later was the issue of Hamas and its possible war crimes raised. I think any reputable administrator of justice would have refused such a commission on the basis of being obstructed from coming to just and unbiased conclusions. In this instance, Goldstone appears to be prominent in setting up a kangaroo court. 2) A second member of the commission, Christine Chinken, a professor from Ireland, had already shown bias by signing a petition condemning Israel before she ever accepted a place on the judicial commission. Would you have accepted such a judge were you to be put on trial? This situation would not have occurred in the present-day USA where you reside, I promise you that. 3) Colonel Travers, a third member of the commission, denied that Israel had attacked in self-defense in spite of the approximately 9,500 rockets and missiles launched against Israel between 2000-2008 and in spite of the fact that thirty-seven Israelis were killed (Shin Bet statistics) by rockets and mortars. The Colonel also denied that Hamas had broken the six-month ceasefire although there were a significant number of rocket and mortar launches into Israel during this period. I, myself, was a member of the civilian population in Ashdod when this occurred and, what's more, the attacks came on a frequent basis. The Colonel went on to state that only several rockets/mortars were launched and dismissed these attacks by excusing Hamas and saying that organizations other than Hamas were responsible. Do you think he was a credible member of the inquiry committee or would you agree that his lack of objectivity should have made him ineligible to sit on such a judicial panel? 4) The fourth, and remaining member of the commission, Hini Jilani, had already condemned Israel before accepting this posting. In the USA, in Canada, and in most European countries, this would have meant that she should have recused herself and, if she refused to do that, she should have been dropped from the committee. This did not occur. Now Mike, I'm willing to give you one of my references for what I've posted here: Go to the website of Alan Dershowitz. An article about the Colonel Travers and the committee make-up can be found. In addition, this information is readily available elsewhere. So Mike, if you really mean to be objective in terms of your multiple condemnations of the state of Israel and its activities, I'd expect you to actually research the material which I've presented and report back to Ynet. Please do not be selective in your findings. By that I mean, don't just utilize the information which supports your current perspective but do a thorough job. In that way, we may confirm that you are an honest poster whose mandate is to get at the truth of the matter and not to simply act as an anti-Israeli propagandizer. I realize you are an intelligent man so I believe you are quite capable, of researching the above question in an objective manner.

Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte, USA   (02.26.10)
Mike, Thank you for your concern about my Ph.D. It is in Operations Research and Decision Sciences. Now you and I know that this has nothing to do with the issues addressed here in YNET, so why raise it? Was it sort of an attempted cheap shot? Also, please pay close attention to what #53 has to say. There are pearls of wisdom there.

I absolutely agree - the world's hyprocricy towards Israel is unbelievable! If Goldstone has any integrity, he would say something now, but somehow, I doubt it....
