4. Condolences - I feel bad for G-d.
Josh   (02.26.10)
He tells us to celebrate His holidays and rejoice and party and the best our people can do is celeabrate another added holdiay based on a book that never mentions him once. Dev 4:2 A holiday that is alien and not from our true inner source of power and strength. Torah loyalty? What illness grips this people? Look in the mirror. Would you back a person such as yourself if you were in Heaven and in charge of enforcing Torah? Chet and you know it. Devarim 4:2 ..and you shall love your G-d with all your heart and soul. Love? What is that? ...and maybe when your done partying, you can stop by and pray to G-d to explain why His holidays take a back seat and are celebrated contrary to the instructions He gave us. Look deep in the mirror. The vanity of the whole story.

6. Beware, WWIII could start on Purim. It is the 15th day of
Rivkah   (02.26.10)
the 12th month on the Moses Calendar that is mentioned in Ezekiel chapter 32 and 2010 is the final year of a tetrad of solar and lunar eclipses on Jewish Holy days that herald war for Israel. If Ezekiel used the Babylonian calendar, the war may begin on Elul 1 or 15th, the days mentioned in Ezekiel chapter 32. No one knows the year for certain and there is another tetrad of lunar and solar eclipses on Jewish Holy days in 2014 to 2015. A third of the people in the world will die in World War III. Stay right with Y'hovah and eat what is clean foods to have a hope of being protected in the war to come. The most damage will be on the countries that attack Israel which are called burdens in the Bible: Burden of Damascus, burden of Egypt, burden of Tyre and Zidon, burden of Elam (Persia, Iran), etc. 2.2 billion people are going to die. Some Bible scholars believe that the number of babies aborted in countries in recent decades will result in an equal number of deaths from the blood of those innocents crying out from the ground for revenge. That would be 50 million people who will die in America, perhaps a billion in China and many in the Middle East and other nations. People must make a lot of money on wars for there to be so many of them. Or maybe the devil just hates mankind. Celebrate, but pray for peace in Jerusalem so that there will be peace in the world.
7. 4 Josh: It is true Y'hovah is not mentioned in the book of
Rivkah   (02.26.10)
Esther, but His presence and providence and protection are a central feature of the book.

This is what civilized people from truly ancient civilizations do. We go out every year in a group to celebrate the Chinese New Year and it includes a Taiwanese couple that guides us through the customs. A couple of weeks ago we went to a Chinese Restaurant to welcome The Year of The Tiger. Somehow I cannot bring myself to celebrate anything Christian, partly because it derives from Judaism and therefore it is newer and unworthy and partly because so many atrocities were committed in its name against Jews, too many sad collective memories. With Chinese culture with all the many differences there has never been any conflict and I can appreciate its great contribution to human progress. Normally Purim is open to anyone and is celebrated on the street but if it is inside a synagogue in Singapore it still should be open to anyone as long as a man puts the head cover on and a woman dresses modestly i.e. a long dress and long sleeves on the arms. BTW the same is true during regular religious services, I am not observant but when I am invited to an event in a synagogue I follow the rules out of respect of observant people. Inquire at any Jewish community center or Synagogue and they will be happy to inform you of the exact time and location. This year it begins in the evening of Feb. 27 (today) and runs thru Feb. 28 (Sunday) which is the main day. Good luck with this and Congratulations for the Year of The Tiger!

Looks like my post yesterday did not get thru. Anyway, my intent to observe Purim wasn't to be. But thank you, GF, for the suggestions and kind reminders as they will come in handy next time :-) So glad that you have the opportunity to welcome the Year of the Tiger! Hope you all had a great time. I like to wish you and your loved ones happiness, good health and prosperity for the rest of the year! Officially, today is the last day of celebration but there's always next year :-)
