1. Interesting article
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (02.25.10)
2. They all look Ashkenazi.
Semsem ,   New York, USA   (02.25.10)
What I find amusing is that they all look Ashkenazi.
3. called woman of Israel; the third gender after gay, Lesbian
observer   (02.25.10)
4. As I've previously noted, the woman, or
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.25.10)
women, were an essential part of the assassination squad, the "femmes fatales" of death, so to speak. It's taken the media a while to advance to an understanding which I already possessed and posted. Here's how it worked: The target travelled to Dubai on his own without a bodyguard to engage in some hanky-panky with one or more of Dubai's many European guest call girls. After his period of "rest and relaxation", (Yes, terrorists have human needs too.) he expected to continue travelling on business on one of his many false passports. Unfortunately (for him), he chose to entertain one of the several entrancing "professional" women whom the assassination squad had waiting for him. By this means, the target, once identified, could be easily followed and trapped. As Inspector Clouseau has constantly recognized, "Cherchez la femme." So you see, dear Readers, identifying the structure and plot of a professional assassination is not so difficult as long as one possesses the necessary (perhaps simplistic)background in human psychology. I have led you to the point of discovery. I am still holding out for an offer by the Dubai secret police to consult on solving their uneasy dilemma. As to what that "dilemma" is, I refuse, at this stage, to make it public. Good-day!
5. The whole thing is a clever smokescreen!
redbourn ,   Tel Aviv   (02.25.10)
Right now there are 26 people listed as suspects; passports from half a dozen countries; and tales of trips all over the world. It only took one person to kill Mahmoud al-Mabhouh and he or she isn't any of the people in this article and isn't listed anywhere else. All these people will be cleared as all they did was stay in a hotel or fly in and out of Dubai. Meanwhile the assassin went in did the job and came out, and nobody is looking for him or her.
6. It's possible that my nemesis,
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.25.10)
"redbourne of Tel Aviv" is correct and that all of this fuss by the Dubai police is just a smokescreen because the real assassin completed the job on his own and consequently left Dubai. I call "redbourne" my "nemesis" because he and I often compete for the same undercover consulting jobs. I know that he is also after the Dubai contract as well. The plausibility of his perspective is questionable, however, when one recalls that there are many people, including Israeli citizens, who maintain that their identifications were stolen and used in the formation of false passports. Ergo, this was not a one-man job. Besides, my scenario is so much more colourful than his and could be the basis of the screenplay entitled "Assassination in Dubai".
7. Remember 1973 ?
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem - ISRAEL   (02.25.10)
What about the late Sylvia Raphael who took part in tracing the " Red Prince " of the PLO , the late " Abu Hassan Ali Salameh " but got involved in mistaken identity when she and the assassination team shot dead , by mistake , a Moroccan waiter (Mohamed Boushiki) in Lillehamer city , Norway, in 1973 ? Ironically the PLO's " Red Prince " who planned deadly attacks against Israelis was simulataneously a CIA agent ... !!! He was at last blown apart in Beirut,Lebanon, in 1979. Real nationalism ? Fake nationalism ? Or what kind of deadly game is that ?
8. Bravo Israel Well done!
Esteban ,   Argentina   (02.25.10)
Let the world bite the dust. These women are heroes, as well as all the Mossad team. Well done!
9. What kind of deadly game?
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (02.25.10)
Abdel karim Salim brings up an unexpected scenario: The possibly of double agents being involved as had occurred once before (as he referenced) with unexpected results. In other words, things may have gotten completely out of hand. I accept his account as both worthy and plausible and publicly invite him to become consulting editor on my screenplay.
10. #2 they also look typical Irish. I guess we will never know
Jay Berger ,   Tel Aviv/Dublin   (02.25.10)
11. fantasies?
tom ,   toronto, canada   (02.25.10)
it turns out that a cast of hundreds all visited dubai on false passports, and left. perhaps they were having some kind of "hit squad convention"? or maybe dubai's security chief, who seems to be cranking out this "information" faster than a one-hour episode of csi, should explain the obvious lack of proper security that allowed several dozen bogus passports, including that which mabhouh himself was using, in and out of the country undetected? or is it dubai's policy not to check travel documents too closely, for fear of losing their reputation as a "discrete" meeting ground for terrorists and their arms suppliers? the next phase of revelations should involve obscure chemistry and maybe an overlooked forensic clue... pure primetime tv-land fantasy!
12. #2, Not really. 2 out of 3 look totally Irish.
Jake   (02.25.10)
Ana and Gail look to me Irish, not 'Ashkenazi'. Only Ivy Brinton looks (to me) like someone from Israel.
13. enough crap !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(02.25.10)
14. It's all speculation
Justin   (02.26.10)
It's a very strange case. I read that the Dubai police originally thought he died of natural causes, but told the press he was tortured. I also read that some of the assassins fled to Iran after the hit. If it was Israel, why would they use the names belonging to real Israeli citizens? Right now it's all speculation, although it makes for a very interesting mystery.
15. ESPIONAGE RULE 1: Follow the money!
Umm El Kul Naqba   (02.26.10)
Al-Mabhough was a HAMAS Terrorist leader who was the liason with Iran for acquisition of weapons and desperately needed money to pay HAMAS operatives' salaries. Iran had provided the money but last month's newpapers covered the fact that there was no money to pay operatives in Gaza. Fatah was able to pay their employees. Iran had found out that al-Mabhouh was stealing vast amounts of money and decided to eliminate him. But the problems Iran was facing were the constant pressure against their nuclear enrichment and the major efforts lead by USA and Israel for punishing measures against Iran. They needed to divert attention away from their enrichment program and the efforts of Barak, Clinton, etc. They have been accumulating information about Israelis and paid a very high price to either acquire stolen passports or get the information needed to forge them. Having done so they sent numerous operatives to Dubai to eliminate al-Mabhouh and plant an abundant trail of evidence to try to implicate the Mossad. They gave all the people exactly what they wanted to find and sure enough they sprung the trap and everyone fell for it thinking that it must have been the Mossad. After all al-Mabhouh was dealing with weapons and money, was a leader in HAMAS, was from Gaza, he had killed two soldiers and was responsible for other terror attacks, was on the list of people wanted by Israel, and the Mossad has a long history of eliminating such terrorists. Most people's minds were made up before the assassination even took place so nothing would really change. Everyone would get what they wanted and Iran would have their diversion and eventually milk it for all they could for as long as they could. Remember that this is not the first time that vast sums of money were stolen from the PALs. Arafat did the same thing and diverted the money to his wife Suha in Paris.
16. so why are they suspects?
lola ,   erewhon   (02.26.10)
all the dubai have managed to say is that 26 people entered dubai on false passports. it is hardly likely that all of them or possibly even ANY of them killed al- mabhouh. all it means is that there is a thriving market in fake passports based on israeli citizens of dual nationality - nothing else
17. #5 Mossad would not need 26 smokescreens
Jake   (02.26.10)
Mossad is a frugal, austere, and probably cash-strapped organization that makes do with what limited resources it has to get the job done with as few people as possible, and leaving the least amount of litter behind. An operation like this, which involved a large cast of extras, colorful costumes, and expensive plane tickets to exotic locations, is clearly the domain of a country with too many extra billions of petrodollars lying around....like Dubai, for instance.
18. Started as an investigation, uncovered many criminals
William ,   Israel   (02.26.10)
Perhaps the real story is this. While looking for the killer of Mabhouh they accidentally uncovered a whole host of other criminal gangs who were in Dubai on fake passports doing illegal things. None were related to the Mabhouh killing but all were involved in some other form of criminal activity in that area - plotting assassinations of other world figures, prostitution and gambling rings, arms running, etc. Perhaps Dubai even became surprised at how much illicit activity is going on in their own backyard and need the Mossad to take the fall so Dubai can save face.
19. His wife did it
Rafi Husseini ,   Ramallah, Palestine   (02.26.10)
Mabhouh was having some un-Islamic pleasures in Dubai. His wife got sick of it and did something about it. What happens in Dubai stays in Dubai
20. SHE? maybe it is a HE?
moshe ,   ny usa   (02.26.10)
21. What pretty women are you talking about?
Sammy from Jordan ,   Amman, Jordan   (02.26.10)
Those three lady assasins are not pretty. I'm sure they were not hired in the Mossad because of their look.
22. not to forget, the women who were seduced by male spys
eporue ,   europe   (02.26.10)
or mata hara... she was beheaded by the french for that (?) i thought, the women from surveillance team 3 (which stayed in the hotel lobby during the murder) was gabriella barney (who might have staged as the "daughter" of lawrence barney ?) re the passports: all spys signed them only with their initial for the first name (e.g. "G. Folliard", "K. Daveron"). exception is "gabriella B.").
23. TALKBACK NUMBER 10.
Arn. ,   SWEDEN.   (02.26.10)
YES - ANNA AND GAIL CERTAINLY DOES. AN IRA JOB DONE FOR WHOM ???. Arn.
24. Initials only
Ben ,   Englewood, USA   (02.26.10)
Good point about the intials only signatures. Highly unusual and no doubt an aid in tracing. Plus now other countries agencies know that is how Mossad forgers sign passports. They can go out and find more leads. This is really a major Mossad cock-up. Total amateurism.
25. heart attack thats all ......
israeli   (02.26.10)
as usual its the Israelis, do you think we need to send 25 people to do away with one person!!!!! how come there is not one photo of somebody going in or going out of his room in the hotel. the man had a heart attack - thats all!
26. #17 - Mossad makes do with limited resources ?
redbourn ,   Tel Aviv   (02.26.10)
Very few people know what resources Mossad has or doesn't have, so sorry you're simply speculating. Compared to the cost of a rocket fired into an empty field, the cost of this operation was peanuts. I have no idea if Israel was involved or not, but what's for sure is that a whole lot of people are chasing their tails right now. The whole issue will be out of the newspapers within a few days and the world will move on. Mike
27. young pretty women
old ugly woman ,   jerusalem   (02.26.10)
yes i can not work as beuty model or fashion vieor .. or bed mat but sure i can do the job to kill ... please i aske to be member in the second crime in katar or abou day or in beirut .. ...hahaha ... i can not kill a fly or share in killing an ant .. /yes iam old but not ugly // and these women are young but not pretty
28. #25 - anyone entering his room ?
eporue ,   europe   (02.26.10)
no pics exists, because there is no cctv. cams are around staircases, elevator areas. M's room was quite at the end of the floor, where there is a staircase. the room next door to his was covered by cctv... to not look as the fools of the century, it seems rather important, they could prove murder - at least... but... hm...
29. Congratulations!
Ciaran ,   Dublin, Ireland   (02.26.10)
Well done Israel, thanks for endangering Irish citizens all over the world. Real act of a 'friendly' nation. The arrogance of your country is truly astounding.
30. Precisely Ashkenazi
Ginger ,   Memphis USA   (02.27.10)
Which means that have no connection to the Mediterranean and don't belong in Palestine.
