1. You can thank Obama
Morris ,   USA   (03.02.10)
Obama's policy of returning a US ambassador to Syria and other diplomatic niceties has removed the fear element that Bush instilled in Syria. Now they fear nothing and are on the war path again. Thanks Obama!
2. As if you hadn't enough toys yourself...
Horst ,   Vienna, Austria   (03.02.10)
So what? On the other hand, the US and its western allies keep supplying Israel with whatever it asks for and everybody knows that these weapon systems are much more efficient than Iranian/Syrian/Soviet stuff. Just look at the devastation and misery they caused in Gaza. Mere supply of weapons is not a legitimate reason for war, not even for Israel. Maybe a well-armed Hisbollah can make Bibi come to his senses and refrain from annihilating Lebanon once again.
3. AMONGST PEOPLE YOU HAVE DISSAPOINTED
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (03.02.10)
Mr.Netanyahu, are two vehemently opposed to the present Iranian regime. They are Sarah and Cynthia who may curse you for predicting contrary to their wishes. Why would Iran have to create impression to make it look that Israel is seeking confrontation with Syria.Your past actions and present attitude has demonstrated it openly, hasn't it?Your attempting to coax Syria had nothing to do with the Syrians as such.It was a move planned to draw Syria away from Iran, wasn't it?Now that you could not achieve it,comes the obvious accusation against Iran.
4. SYRIA IS CRUISING FOR A BRUISING
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (03.02.10)
Just a matter of time before there will be a war ,unfortunately ,and Damascus will be reduced to a "ruinous heap " as prophesized in the Torah.
5. Oh no! Israel can't invade as it pleases anymore!
Alas ,   Toronto canada   (03.02.10)
Grow up. The idf gave birth to Hezbollah. That's what happens when you send in a murdering ad unethical army to kill women ad children. Don't complain, by Lebanese an ultimately international law Hezbollah has every right to counter an Israeli adventure. Perhaps Israel should withdraw to 1967 and finally allow peace to be achieved.
6. Torch of fire
Luis ,   Madrid. Spain   (03.02.10)
Israel will be a torch of fire and his enemies will be like piles of straw. The Bible say. The Allmighty bless the Holy Nation. From Spain, with love.
7. Syria and Hezbollah
Paul ,   Rhinebeck USA   (03.02.10)
Where are the United Nations " Peacekeepers" ? Aren't they supposed to monitor this activity ? How come this intelligence is known, but not a word from the UN ?
8. Iran will not colapse neither will Syria RIGHT ???
M. S. ,   mpls america   (03.02.10)
I doubt if either Iran and or Syria would colapse if there was a Israel Syria war it may even strengthen their own regimes reaspecytively which is why I believe war with Israel is the right thing at this time RIGHT ??? Thank You... M. S.
9. Syria more stupid than ever. Old dogs, old tricks.
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (03.02.10)
Time for the whacko talkbackers to praise Hezbollah and Assad as those peace-loving Islamic bastions of goodness who are trying to make the world a better place. Right? Oh yea, Assad ain't a muslim... And somebody said that Hezbollah is a legitimate occupation force in Lebanon, right? Sure! Just like Hariri committed suicide on his own car bomb. Syria is a dictatorship. Dictatorships are on their way out of the world, although the Arabs still seem to love them. Iran isn't a dictatorship, but it's more like a Soviet style theocracy propped up by oil dollars. Well, we all know that oil will eventually run out. But before then, Iran will most likely implode simply by the fact that it suppresses its own people. Israel will have almost nothing to do with it. Or maybe we'll have everything to do with it - since the ayatollahs are so obsessed with murdering 6 million "zionists" (aka Jews) that they're investing all their petro-dollars in nuclear weapons. And Assad loves that, and I guess he thinks the mullahs will emerge victorious from the radioactive waste...
10. IN YOUR DREAMS

11. @Horst

A pity you werent born in a country ruled by military dictatorship like Syria and Iran. This is what you deserve.
12. I FEEL SORRY FOR
SETTHERECORDSTRAIGHT   (03.02.10)
ANYONE WHO WILL TRY TO FIGHT ISRAEL, FOR THEY WILL LOSE.
13. To #5
Viktor Kanevsky ,   NY US   (03.02.10)
It is stupid to argue with so called “Liberal”, but you forget to mentioned in your pos that Hezbollah, Hamas and Iran does not recognize Israel in any borders. And withdrawal from Gaza shows, that when you surrender territory to terrorists you increase terrorists ability to atack innocent civilian.
14. @alas toronto
Allen ,   Tel Aviv   (03.02.10)
that's right alas, the jews are to blame for giving birth to hizbollah. going with same logic, the jews are to blame for the crusades, the spanish inquisition, the holocaust etc., because back then, the jews were also allegedly klling innocent children... to fresh up your memory, the withdrawals of 93, 01 and 05 only gave rise to arab violence!
15. 6 Days to Create, 3 Weeks to Destroy
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (03.02.10)
Bottom line: According to US general report to Congress, these are the facts: 30m and 15m dead Iranians/Syrians, if war breaks out with Israel. If Iran uses WMD, about 1m Israeli casualties. This is in first 3wks. Israel has neutron bombs..over 400 high fusion nukes, 700 warplanes, and thousands of it's own missiles (bc warheads). It's army is 1m mobilitzed. To Israel: on the way, take out Hez/Hamas strongholds..( forget Goldstone). Make Assad, Ahmad, Hez/Hamas leaders history. If reverse.(see article) they would do it to you. 3 wks...guys, that's all it will take.

I did not say Jews I said the idf. Israel does that represent all Jews, that's an insult to judiasm. And yes it is true, Hezbollah formed in response to israeli invasions and crimes. Read their charter and various political science articles. Why must you play the fake sympathy card? I was not insulting judiasm nor was it ever mentioned. Do not act like a baby when in fact Israel is a wolf.
17. #15, please stop yaking, and start acting
Jean ,   Canada   (03.03.10)
every one is sick of threats. be men and start the war,or forever shut up. one will prevail, and we want to know who! I personally, see Hizzy's raise voice, and idf puts the tail between the legs (after being so loud just prior). if you are sure of what you say and truly beleive in it, what the heck are you waiting for? we want a resolution one way or another......
18. Obama is a weak president
richard   (03.03.10)
Change of strategy by Obama from confrontational to olive branch will have no effect. Terrorist groups and country supporting terror have only one aim & that is the destruction of USA & Israel. Unfortunately USA is now economically weak and can no longer sustain a 2nd or 3rd war front. They never learn from Nth Korea experience. Despite sanctions - they have the nuclear bomb. USA world dominance is now over.
19. #3 Mahmood
Hal ,   Usa   (03.03.10)
Mahmood, you deny that Iran is the stick that stirs the drink in this region? Of course you do, you would say that if Israel would disappear all of these bastions of plurality and harmony would get along just fine and prosper as well. Your mind works in mysterious ways. Maybe Dianetics will help!
20. to # 19 Richard
Chrisian ,   stockholm, sweden   (03.03.10)
Yeah, and thank god fot that. No more illegal invasions that has claimed millions of innocent lifes.
21. ABSOLUTELY OUT OF POINT................#19
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (03.03.10)
Rather than posing a question to me,you should have made attempt to ponder on what I have written. In fact, you should be the one who needs little bit of treatment to understand the realities rather than trying to deny what many many now believe to be the true position in the Middle East. You can rest assured that my mind does not work in mysterious way.:)
22. #21 Mahmood
Hal ,   Usa   (03.03.10)
On the contrary Mahmood, you post on this site for a purpose and then procede to make commentary and statements that compartmentalize the subject and avoid either historical fact or reality on the ground. You also ingage in snarky rejoinders that you object to when aimed at your rather flimsy argument. For instance, your post #2 where you say that Netanyahu has dissapointed Sarah and Cynthia who are against the Iran regime, will curse him(Bibi) for predicting contrary to their (Sarah&Cynthia) wishes. What point are you making? Then you go on to say,"Why would Iran have to create an impression to make it look like Israel is seeking a confrontation with Syria". I don't want to be glib here Mahmood but even the Guardian reports the news. Headlines are screaming by Iran, Syria and Hezbollah that Israel is seeking war with either or all of them! What part of the news don't you get or understand? Then you say that in essence, Israel's past actions demonstrate openly it's (not quoting) hostile intentions. Really, how old are you Mahmood? Do you even read history books? 1929,1936,1948,1967,1973,1982 and on and on the attacks on Israel whether in war or guerilla actions, rocket fire or terrorist actions either from these countries terratory or supported by them. Mahmood, Israel's past actions are responses in direct proportion to the acts commited against it. Your willfull disregard or ignorance of these facts shoots holes through your ambiguous illogical premise as you state it. It is in Israel's and Syria's interest to have a constructive peace for all the obvious reaons. Then you infer that Israel is trying to lure Syria away from Iran as if that was an end in and of itself just to use it as a platform to accuse Iran of what ? Trying to wipe Israel off the map?. Lying to the world about their Atom Bomb project?. Again Mahmood you draw conclusions based on flawed logic and skewed or non-existent facts, wrapped in enigmatic melody. Maybe mysterious should read convoluted. Dianetics my boy! Take the leap!
