1. We need Liebermanns - not Barneas !
Jaacov Baumann   (03.04.10)
In a time like this you need men - not whining intellectuals, sitting in their ivory-tower !
2. may be it's time for the author to go away
Eugene Thomas ,   Reno, NV   (03.04.10)
You defended Olmert but now attacking Lieberman?? Did you also advise Olmert to go back to Ukraine? Why?
3. I'm not ashamed of Lieberman or of Israel
soludo   (03.04.10)
If a patriotic Israeli FM is such as Lieberman is an embarrassment to you, Barnea, you should go. Those who care for Israel thank God that we finally have another Abba Eban to represent us to the world.
4. Lieberman should stay : Nahum Barnea should go
(03.04.10)
It must really hurt but Lieberman is just better than you. To many people outside of Israel he is the ONLY public figure that has shown any GUTS amongst the defeatist and wimpy....and typically..you want to get rid of him... Yes of course you want to talk about the opinion of your pinky friends around the world - I tell you the majority of non-muslims still dont agree with the Palestinian version. If we did - decisive action to "liberate Palestine" would have happened years ago. You sir, are a traitor to your own countrymen. A disgrace. If people like you ran the country - there simply would be NO ISRAEL. And after all that... Lieberman is still innocent until proven guilty.
5. Lieberman
Michael Pielet ,   Israel   (03.04.10)
It is time for Barnea to go.
6. The author of this article, Nahum Barnea,
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (03.04.10)
has lost total credibility with his false dialogue against Avigdor Lieberman. Here's a for instance: He never said "Screw the Arabs" as Barnea suggested he did. What Lieberman maintained, and still maintains, is "no national insurance without national service." This principle goes as well for the Chassidim who do not serve in the IDF as well as the children of the Tel Aviv elite. Lieberman simply asks that all people serve their country in order to obtain the consequent benefits. Is that "Screw the Arabs"? And he shows, by example, how Jews can stand up for themselves. And this embarrasses the writer. That is, Lieberman not only "talks the talk" but "walks the walk". Our leftist and appeasement oriented friends are ashamed. And nary a word from this poor journalist about the injustice of Lieberman having to put up with a thirteen year investigation and still no Court date. Barnea isn't even worth reading!
7. Why do I support Avigdor Lieberman?
Jake ,   USA   (03.04.10)
Because the elitists despise him.
8. Why dont you go away...
moishe ,   usa   (03.04.10)
It is just like liberals to classify anyone that doesn't agree with them as stupid, embarrassing or unsuitable. But really, they are the ones that drink the koolaid of their socialism even if it brings their own demise. It is a suicidal outlook. You put your life in their hands, even on a car trip, because they put everything else as more important. Whether it is animals, the air, other peoples. Truth is their enemy which is why they turn to violence if you dont see their way. This author is advocating violence. He has the voting booth to make his selection known but that is not enough. He must bring the whole world against israel just to get his way. He shouldn't even be printed. He should be shunned.
9. Iieberman
sad ,   israel   (03.04.10)
LEAVE, the sooner the better for ALL!
10. He should stay
Ed   (03.04.10)
Lieberman is doing the rest of the world a great favor by providing all the reasons to distantiate themselves from Israel.
11. What a trash article. He is condemning a person before ....
ARI ,   ISRAEL   (03.04.10)
proven guilty..The police on the other hand leaked things to the press. I wonder is that the role of the police? The left has not stoped to accuse Lieberman since day one. I wonder why the police has dragged this problem for 12 years. If he was guilty, is very suspicious things have been dragged to much. In 12 years they could not prove him guilty and know between the left and some one in the police they want to blow things out of proportion. I imagine maybe this will not be published by Ynet. , because Ynet is also siding many times with the left. This is not fair journalism
12. You must be talking about Olmert or
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (03.04.10)
Sharon, or Rabin, or Ben Gurion, or maybe Golda?
13. Liberman is a national embarassment
Avi ,   israel   (03.04.10)
This former night club bouncer and child beating thug has finally dragged Israel in to the thirld world. Most european leaders wont even speak to him he has brought shame and embarassment to our country. He runs the foreign ministry like the mafia appointing his friends to diplomatc positions to which they are not qualified, he is currently under criminal investigation and cannot devote his time to fullfilling his public duties. He should be removed from his post immediatly.
14. Barnea and corruption
Ilan ,   Ariel   (03.04.10)
The corruption of Rabin, Olmert and Herzog doesn't seem to bother Barnea. Perhaps because he is a mercenary.
15. Brilliant artice
Moshe ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.04.10)
Perfectly written. Every word is the truth. Lieberman is a disgrace to Israel, to Judaism. I hope he is found guilty of crimes. he is already guilty of DISGRACE and CONTEMPT! As Mr. Barnea so articulately points out.
16. to go
colin   (03.04.10)
Time to go !! Nahum Barnes is 100% correct except he has chosen the wrong person to go --NAHUM BARNEA HAS TO GO The quicker the better. One less lieing journalist. Am sure nobody will miiss this twisted leftest.
17. TIME TO GO LEFTIST BARNEA !
(03.04.10)
18. lieberman
sas ,   israel   (03.04.10)
he should never have been appointed a member of the government. the quicker he departs the better off we will all be.
19. Proud of Lieberman, Barnea should go
Roman ,   Rehovot, Israel   (03.04.10)
Accusing a man based on speculations, what a shameful article !
20. Never Before? Really?, here's a coupl of others
Daniel Rivkin   (03.04.10)
How about Prime Minister Ehud Olmert who accepted bribe money. Not shameful enough? He also spent three years completely incapable of stopping rocket fire into Israel, now that's embarassing. What about foreign minister Tzipi Livni in '06 spending a month asking Western powers to support Israel during the Second Lebanon War while knowing it would end in a stalemate? (since the ground forces were forbidden form advancing and the air-force was bombing blindly). Now that's shameful. And what about Defense Minister Amir Peretz who was in charge of that debacle and who didn't know you have to take the caps off your binoculars before observing a military Eeercise? Now that's embarrassing. As for Prime Minister Ehud Barak who abandoned Israel's allies in South Lebanon to their deaths and let the security situation in the West Bank degrade to such an extent he unleashed a three-year blood-bath. shame is far too mild a stigma to attach to that. Oh wait, now I got it, Mr. Barnea was just trying to say there was never a minister with whom he disagreed so much politically! Silly me, never mind.
21. Lieberman
Michael ,   Haifa   (03.04.10)
he should go and take with him some 90% of the racist talkbackers here
22. I think voters had different opinion
Benny Sudakov ,   USA, Los Angeles   (03.04.10)
I want only to say that luckily for the state of Israel it is not up to Barnea to decide if Liberman should go home. It is a job of voters, like in any other democratic state. And I think opinion of the voters was crystal clear!
23. 100% CORRECT.
OsakA ,   Scandinavia   (03.04.10)
100% correct. Your vote will show how big support he has within your country.
24. What would we do without you Michael
Ilan   (03.04.10)
Ah such wit, and acerbic tongue. These TB would be a too gentle place without your burning hatred and xenophobia. Well you are in luck. Unless a regime devoid of civil rights as you would champion against us is established things are not going to change.
25. Barnea the people will decide not the few lefties.
Norman   (03.04.10)
Barnea isn't your column contrdictory to democracy. The left ideology has failed us and the people are tired of the surrender nonesense. Liebermans party scored much more than labor Left. Please have some decency and respect the public will.
26. What does it matter that Lieberman was a bouncer?
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (03.04.10)
Our President was a community organizer (some say he still is) - an arguably even less productive occupation. Barnea just latches onto that reference to suggest Lieberman is too crude for his tastes. Well, different strokes for different folks. Some appreciate that Israel has an FM who pulls no punches, who calls out the enemy. And the fact is Lieberman is reaching out to those regions long ignored by his predecessors - Latin America, Africa and Asia - and calls out envoys acting contrary to ministry policy. As to those "investigations", Barnea well knows how politicized the justice system is in Israel, how it "wraps like an etrog" those whose policies the elite favor, but targets the rest in never ending investigations and the inevitable "leaks".
27. From the TB Obviously Lieberman wins over Barnea hands down
Nachman   (03.04.10)
This was a usefull article to show the Elite where the public stands. Hopefully the Judicial branch will change to reflect the peoples choice when it comes to security.
28. #24 Ilan
Michael ,   Haifa   (03.04.10)
I'm sure you'll manage very well without me. Clearly, we destest each other.
29. Lieberman must go!!!!!
Dan ,   Auckland,Aotearoa   (03.04.10)
Israel need another foreign minister - the one who is not obsessed with this ridiculous concept of truth, knows how to kowtow to anti-semites, and has a more flexible spine. Seriously, Nahum, not everyone is nearly as spineless as you are. Lieberman is doing a splendid job - you, on the other hand...
30. Liberman is the best MK we have
Potash Katiftof ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (03.04.10)
He is the only one that has any clue what is going on in the international forum. All the other guys have their cousins and uncles get them their job, he actually had to earn it. Lieberman for PM!
