1. "Torture in Palestinian Jails"? No, it couldn't be. There
Eitan ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (03.05.10)
people are the prices of the "progressives" of the world, the ones who can't find anything wrong with those whose goal is Israel's annihilation. How could such people actually torture others, being the most ethical and most legalistic people...??
2. funny how pro "Palestinian..."
Golan ,   modiin   (03.05.10)
funny how pro palestinian activists only complain about the temperature of the shakshuka served in Israeli jail claiming that it is at the same time both too hot and too cold and therefore a human right violation... yet when stories like these come out what do they blame? "occupation." hummmm
3. :: Eitan - #1
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (03.05.10)
Firstly all the HR Orgs have condemned the use of torture by the Palestinians. Secondly it should be noted that the same HR Orgs have *also* condemned Israel for its use of torture. In 1987 Israel legalize torture against ‘political’ prisoners. Also it was reported recently that according to the Public Committee against Torture none of the complaints of abuse/torture filed by prisoners over a 9 year period were investigated. As Israel was a country to have ‘state sponsored torture’ how does this fit with the notion that Israelis are “the most ethical and most legalistic people”. Clearly Eitan is trying to ignore the fact that Israel, like the PA/Hamas, tortures people including children. Eitan why do you ignore the indisputable fact that Israel tortures prisoners yet condemn the likes of Hamas/PA for the same crimes? Eitan why do you hold Hamas/PA to moral standards that you do not hold Israel too?
4. People must understand
Matityahu ,   Slovenia   (03.05.10)
That's just their vision of unity government :)
5. Torture in all its forms is wrong
Apa ,   NYC   (03.05.10)
No doubt about it. It should be condemned, and the corrupt PA preferably removed. However, at least the PA leaders had the decency to condemn it. It is not like Israel, which actually allowed torture under law until just recently. One of very few countries to formally write torture into law as a legitimate tool.
6. torture in Palestinian jails
Pheppsie ,   Netanya   (03.05.10)
So the great goal of all the progressives and U.S. and UN and EU officials, and Israeli leftists, has been achieved. Just think, if the "Palestinian state" arises this will go on at even greater force and frequency, nonstop, just as in every single other Arab state and the large majority, if not all, Muslim states. Ah, the evil Israeli occupation will have been removed and "the Palestinians" will emerge in their full glory. And none of the Palestinianism buffs will give a damn--they already don't.
7. What a surprise !!!
walt k ,   sherbrooke, Canada   (03.05.10)

know this... israel stopped this method years ago and the un knows it as well as all human rights organizations. the red cross, the palestinian families and all ngo are always welcome into israseli prisons where family visits as qwell as the red cross. NOT ONCE WAS THERE A COMPLAINT BY A PALESTINIAN PRISONER OF BEING TORTURED IN ANY ISRAELI JAIL. NOT ONCE. SHOW PROOF! israel ended torture under investigation years ago and the world recognized this. HAMEED ABOUGHAZE, IRANIAN
9. #5 - Condemning is one thing, stopping it is another
William ,   Israel   (03.05.10)
"Pals" are hypocrites anyway. So what if they condemn it - if they do nothing to block the culture of hate and torture, then they have done nothing. 300 police arrested for "breaking the law" in the West Bank over torture. Not 3 or 30...but 300. This isn't a few insubordinate people, this is an indication of accepted culture. The PA also condemned terrorist acts against civilians at the same time they were funding them.
10. #8 - Re#3 - Yeah, I'd like proof of torture of kids
William ,   Israel   (03.05.10)
I've never heard the accusation (except by Leftists) and have seen no proof offered. A 17-year old who smuggles a pipe bomb is no longer considered a "kid" since they committed a very adult crime. And neither are people civilians because they wear jeans and a t-shirt but still carry a weapon.
11. #3..GROVES..YOU HAVE SUNK EVEN LOWER THAN EVER..
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (03.06.10)
YOU ARE VERY HASTY TO CONDEMN ISRAEL AND CONSTANTLY OF ALL ALLEGED WRONGS OR CRIMES, COMMITED IN THE PAST, IN THE PRESENT AND IN FUTURE AND " CRIMES " YET TO BE COMMITED. THIS LOW LEVEL OF TOLERANCE YOU HAVE TO EQUATE PLO/HAMAS TERRORISTS WITH THE STATE OF ISRAEL DISPLAYS YOUR TRUE COLORS AGAIN. YOU ARE A SIMPLE RACIST, WHETHER YOU ARE LEFTIST OR RIGHT WING DOES NOT MATTER........YOUR RACISM IS ABHORRENT IN ANY CASE. YOU HAVE NO MEANINGFUL COMMENTS OR ATTRIBUTES TO BRING TO THIS DISCUSSION, SINCE YOUR COMMENTS ALWAYS BOIL DOWN TO THE SAM COMMON FACTOR.............. YOU BLAME ISRAEL ALWAYS, SO ANYTHING YOU WILL SAY OR DO IS ALREADY KNOWN IN ADVANCE , A FOREGONE CONCLUSION, NO SECRET OF YOUR POSITION. YOU MAY AS WELL JUST WRITE ....DITTO ON EVERYTHING.
12. SYRIA, EGYPT, ARABIA ARE CHOICE SPOTS...
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (03.06.10)
THESE COUNTRIES ACCEPT PRISONERS FROM DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE WORLD TO " WORK ON ", TO TORTURE. IT IS WIDELY KNOWN THAT THESE COUNTRIES KNOW HOW TO " INTERROGATE " AND REALLY TORTURE PEOPLE. THESE COUNTRIES ARE THE DESTINATION OF CHOICE WHERE PRISONERS ARE SENT TO BE INTERROGATED. THE COUNTRIES SENDING THEM HERE TO SYRIA, EGYPT, ARABIA, WOULD NEVER ALLOW THIS TORTURE ON THEIR OWN SOIL. DID, MR. GROVES EXPRESS HIS DISPLEASURE TO THE SYRIAN, EGYPTIAN, ARABIAN GOVERNMENTS REGARDING TORTURE ? ..................WE ALL KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS.
