1. as long as you didnt use israeli taxes to fund this movie
ronen ,   israel   (03.07.10)
2. for the entity who gave your movie
ghostq   (03.07.10)
funding deserve no respect, he do aware that entity can take that funding, cause she actually payed for the movie whice wouldn't make it's way to holiwood, talking about shooting your own foot. oh well for stupidity you pay literaly let see how he will manage with out gov fund, he think he can afford the movie by himself, I doubt he is that rich.
3. Scandar Copti 100% correct
Avi ,   Israel   (03.07.10)
He is right for in Israel he is a second class citizen. Naturally Livant and co are worried as we cant have anything which dosent match the national state propoganda campaign. Well done to the makers of this film in presenting to the world what is really going on here and not the usaul lies the state wishes to promote.
4. Supporting those that hate us !
Yisrael ,   Jerusalem, ISRAEL   (03.07.10)
I already know what's wrong with the Arabs, but what's wrong with us ? Why do we support and kiss the tuchus of those that despise us ? When will this Galut mentality die ?
5. #4 Your right i also fund the charideem
Avi ,   Israel   (03.07.10)
Talking of funding those who hate us i presume you also include the charideem and the extreme right wing settlers ? If its not the charideem dont work, dont pay taxes and dont serve in the army well why would they when they have my tax money to pay for their lifestyle yet at the same time they hate us , go figure buddy !
6. to #3 I am waiting... you forgot to blame
ghostq   (03.07.10)
the religious. :) baaaa that movie deals with drug dealers in Jaffa, so your right drug dealers should get the first class citizen award. :) and if you think his situation is bad, than you never in your life visit parts of Brazil, where you can go to some areas only in military troopers. makes me wonder is there something in the ME who make the people so whiny.
7. What an idiot!!!
Anat   (03.07.10)
8. co-directors outburst
ralph Samson ,   Ramat Efal   (03.07.10)
if this is not your country then do not come home
9. He's right
Proud Israeli Jew ,   Israel   (03.07.10)
He's not Jewish, and Israel is a Jewish state, so he does not represent her. Therefore he should move to Iran or Iraq.
10. I'm praying for the movie to fail
!sraeli   (03.07.10)
Ajami shajami, Look around the arab world - there are plenty of ajamis. What's so special about this one?! It's just a political bla bla bla...usual hate fest against Israel.
11. They made an epitaph for our grave
Ilan ,   Ariel   (03.07.10)
Now let's give them a round of applause.
12. get a grip
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.07.10)
Unlike most Israeli-funded films which are rabidly anti-Israeli, false and third-rate, Ajami is an excellent film about human desperation. Copti knows that even if Ajami is the best foreign film, extreme-Left Hollywood won't award it because it is Israeli. Cleverly, Copti makes a "provocative" statement that will give him some press and maybe allow the judges to overcome their anti-Israeli hatred.
13. get in line with all the others...
oferdesade ,   israel   (03.07.10)
... who the government doesn't represent: right-wing settlers, left wing peaceniks, middle wing strokers (i challenge anyone to figure that one out and not smile at my brilliance), people who did the entire 3 years and pay their taxes regularly, people who didnt do the army and cheat on their taxes... i'm afraid the only ones bibi actually represents are tragic comic heroes, screwed in their personal lives, hated in their public lives, no sense of direction and a realization that any sense of direction is fraudulent at best... (hang on, that's all of us). me-ata emor (Mr Copti who if he was in egypt would probably have been killed by islamists by now): gam ani ba-drek
14. TO # 10 I do not pray,Although I share you same hope:)
Salma ,   Palestine   (03.07.10)
TO Scandar Copti: It is important that you are proud of yourself, no matter what others are saying We have got the message
15. Bravo Copti
Nour ,   Palestine   (03.07.10)
Israel leaves little alternative to its "Israeli Arab" population but to identify themselves as proud Palestinians. Israel is an aparttheid entity which turns its back against the Palestinian Arab sector, denying them vital services, utilities, and equality. No Palestinian ministers serve (or have ever served) Israeli governments except a druze.
16. representation
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (03.07.10)
A state task is to provide services to its citizens. If the director believes he doesn't get what he is entitlled to, he can make a movie about this, and sue the state. Both are possible in Israel.
17. Nour#15
Mickey ,   Sydney Australia   (03.07.10)
Nour, as usual you are wrong. Labor MK Majadele is Minister of Science in the Israeli government. He is an Israeli Arab and not Druse
18. Should the taxpayer fund films at all?
Logic ,   Israel   (03.07.10)
Irrespective of this controversy, a more interesting question is if the taxpayer should fund art house films at all. Plenty of American indie films get made every single year without a dime of taxpayer money. Films these days can be bootstrapped with lots of creativity and personal credit card debit. Free platforms such as YouTube and other social media sites could be used to attract attention and funding, and every year European partners come to Israel to seek out joint ventures. Therefore, I don't see why I or anyone else should fund the next Israeli film.
19. Fund pro-Israel movies with PA taxes
Logic ,   Israel   (03.07.10)
20. Pallywood
Ken ,   SA   (03.07.10)
Maybe he should compete in the Pallywood awards.
21. to #15 copti is an chritian Egyptian name :)
ghostq   (03.07.10)
22. to #14 ammm you do knew what this movie
ghostq   (03.07.10)
all about, wait until you will see it you will change your mind, anyway the money for this movie comes from tax money of all Israelis, it's easy to give advice when it's not your money. :)
23. Hope they loose
Proud Israeli   (03.07.10)
Also boycott the movie. Crappy movie anyway...
24. #17 I stand corrected, however...
Nour ,   Palestine   (03.07.10)
MK Majdaleh was the first Arab cabinet member in Israel's history. Israel, which claims to be a "western democracy", was served by hundreds of ministers since its illegal inception. What does that tell us? Indeed, Israel is an apartheid club.
25. COPTI didnt refuse 2,000,000 $ from my tax money
arabs4everungrateful   (03.07.10)
26. adjami
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.07.10)
Simple: don't waste one sheqel on a ticket , second- don't serve Mr.Copti at any restaurant. Judging by the pure idiocy surfacing in this country it must be something in the water....
27. to #24 so how many jews r in the Mukata?
ghostq   (03.07.10)
I can hear crickets. :)
28. i hear turkey, egypt, saudi arabia are great places to move
ralph   (03.07.10)
to, now get out.
29. It
MIka ,   Philadelphia   (03.07.10)
30. It's a shame
Mika ,   Philadelphia   (03.07.10)
A crying shame that Israeli taxes funded that movie, and then Mr. Copti chooses to identify as a Palestinian rather than as an Israeli Arab. Technically speaking, he caries a blue ID, not an orange one, so he is an Israeli and not a Palestinian. He is more than welcome to exchange his Israeli ID for a Palestinian one, if this is the way he feels.... And BTW, maybe next time he should ask the Palestinian Authority to fund his movies, eh?
