1. A little late for this.
Josh S ,   USA   (03.10.10)
They kicked out all their Jews 60 years ago. These restored shuls will be nothing but empty shells for tourists to look at. The money would be better spent compensating the former congregants of these houses of worship whom Egypt stripped of their possessions and turned into refugees.
2. why not?
observer   (03.10.10)
Egypt restores grand Pharaonic temples, although Pharaohs do not exist and do not claim land
3. So what?
Bob ,   Mechburg USA   (03.10.10)
Simply the Egyptian way of insuring them of an easy target- all in one place. A private ceremony? A way of not letting their own countrypeople know they are doing this, but letting ther world know about it. Simple minded asses. And this is supposed to make anyone feel better about the incentment they cause with their "educational" system that teached hate, murder and destruction of anything not Al or Mo.
4. The holiest Jewish site in Egypt
EgyptianJew ,   Geneva, Switzerland   (03.11.10)
For Egyptian Jews the Rab Mosche synagogue is where Maimonides taught. Jews, Moslems and Copts slept here praying for miracles.
5. payment
(03.11.10)
i don't want them to pay for any synagogue restoration but rather for the nearly 100,000 jews they kicked out of their land whose assets they stole, whose homes they stole and whose bank accounts and businesses they stole...after murdering scores and hanging many of these jews in retaliation for israel's birth...jews that had nothing to do with zionism or never set foot in palestine. 100,000 jews were made refugees, penniless and homeless because of this egyptian genocide and expulsion of its jews. and this is only from egypt. the other 900,000 jews were expelled from all arab countries. double the palestinian "refugees". hameed aboughaze, iranian

Good one: "They kicked out all their jews 60 years ago" I wonder what else was happening 60 years ago. I wonder if you would support compensation of displaced Palestinians also?
8. #7 Reza
Hal ,   Usa   (03.17.10)
If I were you as you seem interested in compensation for Arabs that were convinced to leave Israel during the 1948 war, direct your inqueries to the five confrontation states Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. It was they that promised Palestinian Arabs, if they got out of the way of their armies, they would push the Jews into the sea. These poor souls fled from their homes and villages.Too bad it didn't work out so well for the five Arab armies, they lost their war effort. I guess you could say that they are bitter about this, but no less responsible Reza! Maybe oil rich Saudi Arabia can spend their money on making it right for their Arab brothers after all these years.
