Jerusalem has been unified since 1967. Jerusalem is the capital city of Israel. That means that Israel gets to make all the regulations and decisions with respect to Jerusalem. A)-Commit suicide by succumbing to the pressures exerted on it by the UN, US and EU so "they" can appease the arabs for their own interest or B)- Worry about the national security and take "whatever" steps it needs to safeguard it's capital and security. Should Israel chose plan B and be rebuked for it, it may suffer in the short term from all kinds of negative reactions from those powers but logic says that in the longer term they will come round. The question remains: "how long can Israel withstand those pressures?" My guess is that plan A will weaken Israel "mortally" and therefore not worth considering.
