1. They were all exterminated ......there are no more jews
rachel ,   usa   (03.13.10)
So what are they talking about 'JEWS OUT'
2. #1
Jane   (03.13.10)
You can take the Jews out of Poland, but you can't take Jew-hating out of the Poles. Remember what Itzhak Shamir said: they take Jew-hating in with their mothers' milk.
3. stop the hatred
erin ,   arizona   (03.13.10)
It's sad to read news like this
4. No need to go to Poland
Thomas ,   Dixieland   (03.13.10)
Pay a visit to Haaretz, Israel where the antisemitic bestiality dwarf anything that the Poles can conjure up.
5. #2 ...you leave no wonder why we get hated.
Josh   (03.13.10)
What a racist thing to say and even more racist to believe. "they take Jew-hating in with their mothers' milk" The only way that would happen is if G-d cursed us. Does evil cling to us or does G-d protect us? Who are "they"? supremist racist fools? ...or is that us when we reduce ourselves to this type of thinking? Such words are racist and foolish and don't contain righteousness but false judgements of others. Now you fuel the converstion of those that don't hate us into ones who do? Is this to help serve the cult of closing out the world so Hebrews are mentally imprisoned to false religios teachings that violate Torah? Don't falsely accuse people of crimes. Torah states to do such makes the false accuser the recipient of the the condemnation you sling falsely at them.
6. Josh
Jane   (03.13.10)
Perhaps if you would read the history you would find that this is a statement of fact manifested in action, rather than a false accusation. There is no supremacy stated or implied. Simply a confrontation with historic fact predicated on the teachings of the Polish Catholic Church which teachings still prevail, as well as the murder of the Jewish remnant who attempted to return to their homes in Poland. I fuel nothing other than clear confrontation with the truth.
7. Josh @ 5, Jane and Shamir are absolutely right.
leo ,   usa   (03.13.10)
"What a racist thing to say". No, it is not racist, it is simple acknowledgment of the fact and you do not need to kill the messenger. Go to Poland or to Russia or to any other Slav country and try finding a Slav who is not anti-Semite. There are very few decent people the rest are either liars or do not even bother to hide it. Or better yet, no need to ask, just wait for them get drunk and start talking.
8. Why Is Anyone Surprised
Dan ,   USA   (03.13.10)
I am surprised it took the Poles this long to show their true feelings. Jews suffered in Poland as much, if not more, than any place in europe during WWII. Obviously the hatred continues to exist even though most of the Jews were killed. Then again when one compares today's Israel with today's Poland, Israel shines.
9. Jane and Leo
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (03.14.10)
This despicable act doesn't speak for all Poles and it's unfair to condemn the whole nation for it. Things have come a long way since Shamir made 'Aliya'. The situation is not as bad here as you would have others who live elsewhere believe. Rabbi Michael Schudrich, Chief Rabbi of Poland, sees it like this......to you guys he would say 'it's not as bad as you think' and to Poles he would say 'it's worse than what you think'
10. #8
Gary ,   USA   (03.14.10)
There was no Poland during WWII. Maybe it will be a surprise to you, but the Germans were killing Jews, not Poles. I am ashamed that our people do not know history of our nation...
11. #2 - Not true
P ,   Philadelphia   (03.14.10)
This is a cultural problem - it is possible to rework the customs and beliefs of any people, it's just very hard. We should dream of and work for a world where people stop hating others over race. Hint: When you suggest there's something inherently rotten about Poles, you're not helping. Instead of just sighing and say "they'll always hate us", we should look at the causes, and see what we can do to address them. Social conservativism, a lack of feeling that they have a future, poor education, excessive nationalism, and a need for someone to blame - these are usually the causes of racial hatred. Undo those, and these stupid attitudes will fall out of society during the gap between two generations.
12. Mark @ 9, I cannot speak about Poland and
leo ,   usa   (03.14.10)
if you are right I do apologize. However, since I made my "aliya' not much has changed in former SU. Nor there is reason to think it will. Is Poland any different? Well, then I am wrong and Pols are better than Russians, Belorussians, Ukrainians, etc. Just one little detail. Do you remember "Passion of the Christ" the movie.?I did not watch it, but I remember the time when it was in the theaters. At that time in Chicago area number of anti-Semitic attacks by kids against kids had occurred. Guess who attackers were. Polish kids. Still wonna argue about mother's milk?
13. Mark
Jane   (03.14.10)
The day that Poland owns up fully to what was done to the Jews on Polish land and in Poland's name, perhaps I might think differently about the present. You yourself may be respectful of others, but anti-Semitism amongst prominent members of the Catholic clergy feeds the old disease that permeates a significant segment of Polish society. It is there and it is being fed still.
14. #11
Jane   (03.14.10)
Other than the fact that you omitted the venal Jew-hating of the Polish Catholic church as being at the root of the problem, you have made a point.
15. I beg your pardon Mark?
Ovadia ,   Warsaw, Poland   (03.14.10)
Indeed not every single Pole is an anti-Semite but you have to admit that this racial hatred toward us is not a marginal phenomenon... http://polish-jewish-heritage.org/Pol/08-07_Pamiatkowe_zdjecie_z_piescia_przed_nosem_Zyda.html
16. leo, jane - when such things arrive in North America
Justine   (03.14.10)
...and they do (I mean anti-Semitic graffiti), do you argue Americans drink anti-Semitism with their mother's milk? Does it really seem reasonable to you to make generalizations about some 40 millions people based on an incident that could be perpetrated by a few or even one individual?
17. to Jane
Justine   (03.14.10)
I guess it's pointless to argue since you do not seem to make a difference between a fact and a generalization/interpretation/theory , but let me just mention that Gross - the author of the book about post-war killings in Poland never argued it was a consequence of some deep cultural hatred - rather he viewed it as a consequence of opportunistic crimes that the war allowed. So even a scholar quite versed in the subject would not agree with you on the "drinking with their mothers' milk". Going back to the subject, the authorities will make sure that this is cleaned up and the Memorial March will take place as usual - and this means many Poles will come to pay respect to the victims.

tomek ,   lublin, poland   (03.14.10)
Jane, sorry to dissapoint you but I was bottle-fed. Unless Shamir said something about Polish cows too...
19. # 8 No Poland During WWII ???
A.C.Guard ,   USA   (03.14.10)
Are you an idiot? Germany invaded Poland in 1939 and occupied Poland throughout WWII. Of course there was a Poand during that time. Some of the worst camps were in Poland and who do you think worked in the camps? The grandfathers of today's anti semitic Poles. And they certainly weren't trying to save the Jews.
20. #11 please I am not going to psychoanalyze nazies
rachel ,   usa   (03.14.10)
give me a break ...
21. #19
tomek ,   poland   (03.14.10)
So who worked in those camps? Please, enlighten us. I hope that by 'working' you do not mean the job done by Sonderkommandos. You obviously sucked something with your mother's milk but it was not wisdom, that's for sure.
22. I think someone made it as if was lokal work
ghostq   (03.14.10)
but it's not, other wise they wouldn't use international work orr slogangs you could find in history text book. it's not in polisch, which bring the espact of tourist work.
23. to #21 it's not polisch people made.
ghostq   (03.14.10)
cause that is tourist area, I have strong feeling it is more of forign one. and from the hand writing it looks like someone who just learn latin based language cause the hand writing r all in capital letters.
24. Justine @ 16, you need to follow argument closer.
leo ,   usa   (03.14.10)
25. @ 19, I am all for good anti-Semitic trashing,
leo ,   usa   (03.14.10)
but to be fair most of the people working in concentration camps were doing it under duress, Jew and Pol alike. And another important point, Nazis had extermination program for Slavs and Gipsys and bunch of others too. For example Belarus lost 25% of its population during the war (including Stalin's write-offs).
26. Jastine, just to add. My generalization are not baseless.
leo ,   usa   (03.14.10)
In fact if I were to say "most of the Pols are not anti-Semites" that would've been unfair generalization.
27. @19
Josh ,   Israel   (03.14.10)
With such idiotic opinions, I wouldn't blame poles for hating us...
28. To all of you
Lisa ,   Tel Aviv   (03.14.10)
Here is something worth reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Holocaust_in_Poland http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rescue_of_Jews_by_Poles_during_the_Holocaust http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Jews_in_Poland http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henryk_S%C5%82awik
29. #19
Paul ,   Poland   (03.14.10)
If you write such foolish opinion, why don't you add some info about thousands of Poles killed after WWII by Jewish militians of communist secret service? @ All - why don't you write about thousands of Poles outraged by this act, about TV stations telling about this all the time, about Polish police looking for the scums who did it?
30. voice from Krakow
Ka ,   Karkow, Poland   (03.14.10)
Trust me that Poles ARE NOT anti-semites. You shouldn't judge whole nation because of this act of vandalism. I'm very sorry that someone wrote those signs and I'm ashamed for this kind of people.
