31. it's aim is saving the taxpayer a headache
JO   (03.17.10)
money and grants given to those who do not care for the State they live in is taxpayer money. This is logical and most countries do the same. Not dangerous at all. Arab Mks are always using democracy ( as does Hamas) as a by word. Democracy has to be safeguarded and protected. Hitler came to power in a democracy, and it is not just the ballot box, it is a whole process. Public discourse will always be there, that is free. Funding is not and is not obligated. Arab Mks do nothing to help Arab Israelis at all but at every turn denounce the country they "serve" and have not the guts to resign. We Israelis hear the Arabic and the slander. Hypocritical. Give me an Arab Israeli who truly represents Arab Israelis and Israelis speaking straight, and I'll vote for him.
32. Pathetic
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (03.17.10)
When a government uses the threat of government power to quell dissent. And, not only dissent, but truth itself. Only government -approved speech will now be tolerated. And if the dissenters do not receive this 'kosher' seal of approval, their speech will be threatened. There is a disease rampant in Israel. It is the refusal to examine the facts presented by both sides with the aim of finding the truth and making policy for all citizens. Instead the Israeli way is: 'If you don't like the message, shoot the messenger'.
33. Why?
Avi   (03.17.10)
Why should Israel fund programs and groups that go against it? That's nonsense. It's only the right thing for Israel to give funding to those who want to promote and protect it. I don't see anything in the bill that curtails freedom of expression: If the barfbags still want to do that, they can. We just don't want to pay for that.
34. Propaganda minister next?
Baz ,   Morgantown, USA   (03.18.10)
The rabid nationalist forces have long sought to brainwash the Israeli public and have done so lying to them about the real reasons for various wars, as has the US, and as Germany did when it claimed Poland attacked it. Now, Israel wants no funding for groups that don't have the government line. Essentially, it is going into the direction of not being able to protest the government. Also, the government is trying to shut Jewish Leftists down ever since reports of war crimes came from Jewish sources, possibly soldiers and observers. The Israeli Government is interested in propaganda, right wing nationalism, and removing proper debate from society. Good job!
