Gaza is infact not occupied. Per the Oslo Accord, Israel retains the right of land, sea, and air over Gaza until Statehood. It rescinded land at the hope of Gaza showing how "Pals" would be State builders. And Israel stated publicly, if it went positively, Israel would relinquish control and give it autonomy toward Statehood, then do the same in WB. What was Hamas' response? They vowed to destroy all of Israel and ethnically cleanse the region of Jews. Not my words, that came from Mashaal! If Hamas spent just 40% of the money and 20% of the time on infrastructure, the outcome today would be vastly different. By building settlements in an area, that the whole world does not recognize as being part of Israel (for the simple reason, that it isn't), unfortunately the citizens of Israel are doing their very best, to become hated. They cannot blame it on the government, because they choose one right wing government after the other (with a very pleasant exception). Have you read the charter of the Hamas of 1988? I don't think so. The Palestinians don't want to kill the Israelis because they build appartments. They want to kill the Israelis because they are Jews. It's as simple as that. The Hamas puts a claim on the complete(!) territory of Israel ("from the river to the sea") and they want to kill every single Jew. There will never be peace because Hamas can't live in peace.
